Shreveport Police Officer Shot

Shreveport police are seeking a gunman after an officer was shot today in the Valley View neighborhood in the south-central part of the city.The shooting happened just after noon in the 7100 block of Suntan Street, between Dollarway and Gaywood drives a block south of West 70th Street. Officers were responding to a prowler/suspicious persons call.The unidentified officer was taken to LSU Hospital with unspecified injuries.

UPDATE:
Shreveport police are seeking a gunman after an officer was shot today in the Valley View neighborhood in the south-central part of the city.The shooting happened around noon in the 7100 block of Suntan Street, between Dollarway and Gaywood drives a block south of West 70th Street. Officers were responding to a prowler/suspicious persons call.The unidentified officer was found in the street by another officer and was apparently alone at the time he was shot, police said. The officer was taken to LSU Hospital with unspecified injuries.Police spokeswoman Kacee Hargrave said the officer was being examined and may pull through "with a little prayer and the help of the people at the hospital."

UPDATE:
Shreveport Mayor Cedric Glover and Chief of Police Henry Whitehorn say a Shreveport police officer shot today in the Valley View neighborhood in the south-central part of the city should make a "full recovery" after being shot in the face.The unidentified officer is at LSU Hospital in serious but stable condition. Police have two people in custody but still are seeking the gunman.
