Clearing up the rumors

A lot of let's say, less than truthful things have circulated both on this blog and in the public in the race for District Judge. This should clear up at least one of them.

  2. Whit Graves has requested that his supporters not engage in negative attacks on Mr. Nerren, so I will remove any comments that are deemed such.

    ReplyDelete
  3. "in good standing continuously" key words from this document-thanks for sharing Jim.

Has Mike Nerren also requested no negative attacks Jim?

    ReplyDelete
  4. No, but if he does I will honor it.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Has Mike Nerren lied to you personally....or are you going from rumor? I can say that I personally KNOW Mike Nerren has integrity. I have dealt with him professionally and count him as a friend.......and I am not afraid to put my name on this post.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Mike Nerren put out a mailer today stating things about Whit Graves that were untrue. This letter sure goes a long way to prove that.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I haven't seen the mailer. I will say, everything is really a matter of perception isn't it? I still stand firm behind and am PROUD to support Mike Nerren. I know and have dealt with he and Whit both on a professional level. There is no one in this world that I trust more than Mike Nerren.

    ReplyDelete
  8. A lot of us fall victim and can be fooled by someone we think we know and trust, sometimes people we love. After seeing the mailer today from Mike Nerren about Whit Graves, and seeing the documentation above, it certainly calls to question the allegations made by Mike Nerren. I am assuming Nerren approved the mailer, or maybe he is just getting bad advice from someone in his campaign.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Jim, Thank you for printing this document. It clears up a lot.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Well....I have a tendency to only trust those who are HONEST enough to put their name behind what they say and not hide behind anonymous.

    ReplyDelete
  11. You people should read the Supreme Court Case. Whit was clearly supended for lying, all you have to do is take time to read the opinion. He worked a deal where the suspension was deferred which kept him in good standing so to speak and he was placed on 2 years probation which allowed him to work. Whit hiding behind technicalities. Never seen anyone proud of being place on probation. I bet Mike Nerren wishes he had a supporter like Jim !!!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Whatever, this is getting really old. I have not endorsed either candidate, and as I said, if I wanted to I would. I have only been trying to present both sides to the readers of My Bossier.
    You're welcome.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Obviously homework was not done prior to publishing and mailing mail outs. That is like going to court and not researching the law, scary.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Anon 1:51...obviously Whit does not have to hide behind anything. Pretty black and white. The Supreme Court letter states in "good standing", are you calling the Supreme Court a liar?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Shelly,
I am not "in bed" or a good ole boy with the DA and his gang. I do not want to be on the receiving end of the repercussion from simply stating my opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Well why don't you print the other documents from the Supreme Court ?? The suspension one.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Shelly be careful because they love to attack the ones that tell the truth.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I posted the link twice. And no one is going to attack Shelley.

    ReplyDelete
  19. All the documents have not been posted on here to show the truth about the case and that he did in fact LIE!!!! and as far as this blog if you want to lie and make up stuff My Bossier is your blog, but if you want to stand up and defend all the attacks made from the other side and talk truth you may want to start your own blog!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Once again, for about the fourthtime, what lies are you referring to that have been put on THIS BLOG?
I'm still waiting for an answer.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Darlene,
It’s obvious you have a personal vendetta against Mr. Graves. You have blasted him from the very beginning. Why continue to beat a dead horse, this letter shows he was NOT SUSPENDED…Geez
MY VOTE IS FOR WHIT GRAVES...and for Camp Nerren to publish and mail flyers into the homes of Bossier and Webster Parish knowing full well he was NOT SUSPENDED is fighting below the belt. Is that really what you want on the bench? I will republish this on everything I can get my hands on to discredit Nerren for taking such a cheap shot. TE

    ReplyDelete
  22. It is my understanding that one lawyer to another lawyer communication has guidelines enforced by the Bossier Bar as well as the Louisiana Bar. One can state facts without a problem. When one lawyer calls another a lier that is a problem. Mr Nerren may find himself in hot water.

    ReplyDelete
  23. It is actually illegal to distribute campaign materials to the public knowingly stating an untruth. Look it up for yourself rs 18:1463(c)1

    ReplyDelete
  24. First blood was drawn today when a mailer sent by the Nerren campaign accused Whit Graves of being a lier. I wonder what will be next. More piling on bt Nerren or a response by Graves. Hmmmm, integrity just went away today.

    ReplyDelete
  25. the letter does not say he was never suspended, or did you notice. Might want to read the case.

    ReplyDelete
  26. An article in the Forum said Mike Nerren has DUI arrests on his record. Is there any truth to the story?

    ReplyDelete
  27. The letter and the suspention have noting to do with each other. The letter is correct that he is in good standing and the case is correct he was in fact suspended. Some people want to know the facts and some don't but whoever you vote for you should make an informed decision with all the facts.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Anon 3:34, are you blind or just ignoring the wording?

If he had been suspended, how do you figure he would have been continuously eligible and active?

Whoever wrote Nerren's mailer must've also posted that. Someone should be fired.

    ReplyDelete
  29. CONTINUOUSLY ACTIVE AND IN GOOD STANDING! YOU ALL ARE FREAKING DENSE.

    ReplyDelete
  30. There is an old adage in politics. Never go negative if the election is in hand. Either the Nerren camp violated this rule or they feel they are losing and time is short. Either way Nerren chose to go negative in order to be Judge.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Folks, Graves was suspended for 9 months - deferred - and placed on 2 years probation. While on probation, he could still practice law so he remained in good standing. This is not rocket science. Vote for the guy who has been suspended and put on probation or for the guy who has not. Your choice.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Anon at 3:28. You are correct. 18:1463c(1)controls here. And if Whit Graves types, mails or anywhere says he was not suspended and placed on probation, he should be arrested for lying.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Actually the case in question that caused the problem I believe was a first degree murder conviction garnered by Whit Graves. A conviction of any stature is getting rare around here. BTW, in the three years Nerren has been an ADA has he collected a first degree murder scalp? Seems all we get around here is plea bargains.

    ReplyDelete
  34. do we want a judge who has only criminal law experience, has lied to the supreme court, has failed to follow explicit instructions from the supreme court, and who blames others for their mistakes? accountablility and integrity are important characteristics for a judge

    ReplyDelete
  35. A5:05. I think we just saw integrity today with one candidate going totally negative and slandering the other candidate. A negative campaign in a Judges race? Yeah, right, Mr integrity!

    ReplyDelete
  36. If Nerren ever got a DUI...I am pretty sure it would have been dropped. Benefit of being buddies with Marvin or does no one on here read that wonderful tabloid that publishes every DUI and criminal acts in our city.
Pretty sure that is what has been all over it...DA office being investigated.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I would bet my last dollar there is dirt some where on Nerren. Problem with being associated with corrupt men of power, they hide it and very well I might add. Whatever happened with Whit Graves, he apparently went through the appropiate channels and took his punishment by being on probation. End of story...this is OLD news anyway. How many years now? Is that all you got on the guy? Move on. I would be more concerned with the ties with Nerren and Marvin. Nerren relying on power of other politicians to get him where he wants to be. What is going to be the cost of his favor? That is my concern and the concern of many of the citizens in Webster Parish as well as Bossier Parish.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Jim, I don't know what "less than truthful things" you are referring to because the truth is - Whit was suspended and was on 2 years probation. His letter you flash in his defense doesn't address this question -

Q: WAS WHIT SUSPENDED AND PLACED ON 2 YEARS PROBATION?

    ANSWER - YES.

Where does your letter address this?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Whit Graves endorsed by the republican party of Louisiana!!!

    ReplyDelete
  40. 5:49 - You would have to address that question to the State Supreme Court, they wrote the letter.

    ReplyDelete
  41. 5:52 I heard the reason the Republican party is endorsing Graves is because Nerren was caught paying a minority canvassing company to turn out minorities on election day and adding his name below Obama. It has been confirmed that a sample minority ballot was distributed in Webster that endorsed Obama, Nerren and Lord (libertarian ran against Flemming). Small sample of future integrity to come?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Is this true about the sample ballot? does anyone have proof?

    ReplyDelete
  43. True. I have seen sample ballot of Obama/Graves and Obama/Nerren and Obama/Slattery. One had the amendments on it, one had Randall Lord and the Obama/Slattery just had their names on it. Weird.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I saw one that had Obama/Nerren and 3 amendments. At the bottom was UID. That is a black turn out the vote company owned and operated by Julian Darby and his brothers. I looked it up at Sec of State. BTW on Nerren finance report there is a large payment to "UID". Payments for turning out black votes and feeding off Obama is not in good standing with republicans.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Looks like Nerren political mistakes gonna get him beaten.

    ReplyDelete
  46. So did Nerren have two tickets? One for Romney/Nerren in bossier and one for Obama/Nerren
    in webster?

This is like someone running for office and putting their name next to charles manson just to make sure you get the manson vote too-geez

    ReplyDelete
  47. Nerren had at least two sample ballots tagged to Obama. The Bossier ballot was Obama/Nerren along with three amendments. The Webster sample ballot had Obama/Nerren/Lord. I heard John Fleming may voice his disapproval.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Now that the Mike Nerren campaign has attacked Mr Graves I sure hope Mr Graves attacks back with these tickets or ballots or whatever they are. Maybe the fine Romney losers will still be mad and take it out on Mr Nerren. Second thought maybe he deserves it for paying Obama people.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I would bet Fleming is not a happy camper, I know he is not an Obama fan, nor are most of us

    ReplyDelete
  50. Just cruising thru and it seems the Nerren support has abandon the ship. The garbage of the Skylar way of getting folks elected has showed big time this day.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Annon 650 Its not very wise to muddy Judge Slatterys name in order to cover up the sins of your candidate.Judge John Slattery ran a good clean race. The comment that suggested that Slattery used Obama's names to get votes is a TOTAL LIE!! Judge Slattery worked on Ronald Regans Presidential campaign as a young man and he would never sell out his political values in order to get votes. We all suspect which polical machine put an X by Obama's name. I look forward to viewing the evidence!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Go to this link and read it for yourself. http://caselaw.findlaw.nco/la-supreme-court/1066093.html. Graves got off by consenting to discipline.

    ReplyDelete
  53. 9:17 that link goes a matter over a decade old. 8:55 statement is a week old. Which is more relevant? Selling your sole in spite of your claims and being dishonest to all that would support you. How many Nerren supporters gonna be sick to their stomach when the evidence and full story is exposed.

    ReplyDelete
  54. WOW looks like Nerren ethics are going down the tube. A Judge that talks out of both sides of his mouth...supports Obama...payment to UID...back by DA that is being investigated...knowingly sending out false information about Mr. Graves...Lots of integrity in the Nerren Camp. Oh but let’s still talk about the suspension...the two letters of importance are the one from the Supreme Court and the one from the Republican Party endorsing Whit Graves. That is huge; I bet camp Nerren is running around like a bunch of rats trying to figure out what BS they can come up with next. A person’s true character will always come out. Nerren political wounds might prove to be a bleed out. VOTE WHIT GRAVES

    ReplyDelete
  55. I agree with the older post regarding slattery, he ran a good clean race and he is a good man indeed.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Trying to link Nerren to Obama is pure desperation. I guess when you have nothing else I guess that's what you go with. Congratulations Graves supporters. Mike Nerren's name on some sample ballots with Obama simply trying to get the minorities out to vote. That's your dirt? Wow

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. No..paying to get the vote out. Did you miss is financial statement with payment to UID? Trying to link Nerren....he did that himself, don't tell me you missed that flyer. Being backed by DA that's under investigation. Paying for, publishing false statement about his opponent which the Supreme Court letter cleared up. Nerren fights dirty and is surrounded by dirty...you think that makes a clean, fair, intelligent Judge? Wow

      Delete
  57. Nerren will make a good judge. This site definately comes out against candidates. Against Austin, Whittington, Craig, Thompson, and now Nerren just to name a few.

Also, I find all the good old boy comments against Nerren funny seeing that Collier and Adley and their forces are backing his opponent. Aren't they the original good ole boys? Most support Nerren because they will always support the opponent of the original good old boys.
Most of us are more worried about the former "good old boys" getting any power back than adding to the number of the current good leaders we have.
So if you are fundamentally against good ole boys, shouldn't you vote for Nerren? Didn't Nerren run against Marvin for DA about 9 years ago?

So, if you are against "the good ole boys" then vote for Nerren.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Interesting. I was not 'against' Thompson, I was for Lowrie. Not against Craig, I was for Burchett. Ditto Austin.
As for Whittington, I endorsed him so I have no idea what hat you pulled that one out of.

    ReplyDelete
  59. exactly, you have a favorite in every race- we all do.

But setting the record straight cannot be done from a biased stand point.
How can the republican party condemn nerren for getting support from democrats (which he needs to win), when our republican leaders have campaigned for democrats?

    ReplyDelete
  60. I don't know, I'm not the Republican Party. I'm not even a Republican.

    ReplyDelete
  61. As a republican I would be madder about a local republican leader supporting a democrat than a Republican candidate trying to get Democrat votes.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I supported Nerren and will continue to support Nerren!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  63. sorry for whittington, I meant edminston.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Strikeout again, I also endorsed Bobby.

    ReplyDelete
  65. But you did make a legitimate point - we all have preferences. I'm not being argumentative today, just a little ornery.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Looks like you are are leaning Graves

    ReplyDelete
  67. I'm publishing whatever press releases I get from the campaigns. Since apparently I'm not on Nerren's mailing list, it might appear that way.

    ReplyDelete
  68. the supreme court letter clears up nothing. whit has always been allowed to practice law.he was on probation with a deferred suspension. there is nothing in the mailer that is not true. he lied, and he was on dererred suspension. that is not negative, nor is it slanderous. slander is saying something untrue. if whit would come out and acknowledge is wrongdoing instead of blaming illness, incompetent staff, people may respect him more. why doesn't he publish his letters of apology to the clerk of court and a member of the court?

    ReplyDelete
  69. 10:32 Nerren mailer has stamped in red letters over a picture of Graves the word LIED. This may be a violation of ethics of his oath and membership in the Bar. A complaint may have been filed and a ruling to come forthwith. His paying a canvassing company to turn out the democrat vote and his saddling up to Obama may be legal but may cost him the election. I think Nerren has bigger problems than worrying about Graves action of a dozen years ago.

    ReplyDelete
  70. 11:09 the supreme court opinion clearly said"graves misled this court" "showed lack of respect" his actions revealed a"disturbing disregard for his professional obligations" and "caused injury to the integrity of the legal system." by the court saying he misled the court, is their nice and polite way of saying he lied

    ReplyDelete
  71. And one other thinng before I go eat turkey. We have just witnessed the nastiest campaign in history. I think Bossier/Webster republicans are a bit sick of mud slinging. For Nerren to launch a negative campaign on Graves that hit a day before Thanksgiving is a little over-the-top. His supporters have been diligent in promoting his integrity and ethics. I wonder if they now have pause? The coming Obama/Nerren rebuttal may finish off Nerren.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I personally have no dog in this race but supporting Obama to get votes is about as bad as lying to the Supreme Court!..maybe worse with a lot of older voters. Nerren is suppose to be a "Republican"? I think both candidates are not worth the vote....Is this the best we can do?? Bossier should have voted with Webster for Judge Slattery.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Nerren did not support OBAMA!!!! Who went in to the voting booth with Nerren????? I do not see how a sample Ballot with Nerren's name on it to get the minorities out to vote states Nerren Supported Obama Not that who someone voted for is really any one business anyway!!!! Sure Graves has one floating around as well!!!! It is so funny how Graves and his suporters act as if THEY have just been so honest and not started all this mess to start with. Graves and yes his supporters have been working on just what they can come up with next to LIE or give False information on Nerren. This is not Graves first RODEO!!!! I have got some mail outs from Graves that has stated things so far from the truth and yes I threw it in the TRASHHHH!!!! I also know that Graves and his supportes like to talk about what they are going to do next and tend to talk to people that they do not realize have been supporters of Nerren!!!! I seen the mail out from Nerren yes it may be old news to Graves and his supporters and they may have posted the letter up at the top of my bossier but seem to have left out a few documents and the fact of the matter is he Lied has started a NEGITIVE CAMPAIGN FROM THE DAY THIS RACE STARTED!!!! The mail out from Nerren is facts and public record not just down right Lie after Lie and you want to talk about dirty politics Whit wrote the book on it he has used Nerrens children and wife and family in his sick games and now he has been working on this Obama thing for a while!!!! NERREN 2012!!!!! IT is funny how its all ok for Graves and his supporters so say and drag family and children into his Lies but let someone tell the truth and they feel they are the ones being attacked!!! Nerren and his family and supporters have been dealing with all the Negitive mess from Graves himself and his supporters for a while now!!!! IT is getting really old how thr Graves camp started all this and now they are the Victums!!!!! Nerren 2012

    ReplyDelete
  74. @Anon November 22, 2012 1:23 P.M.
Meh... Nerren paid the United Independent Democrats (UID) to produce and distribute those sample ballots to get votes. Which since the UID backed Obama and most likely helped with campaigning and donating, it can be linked that Nerren supports Obama. He made a bad decision, and it just so happens that he ended up pissing off the Republican Party of Louisiana in the process.
Also, if you have evidence of the sample ballot from the Graves' camp, I would like to be able to see this. Side note: It doesn't exist.
Lastly, by saying that Graves has had a "NEGITIVE CAMPAIGN FROM THE DAY THIS RACE STARTED!!!", how does this make Nerren or supporters of Nerren look any better. Instead of yelling and screaming, why not try and relax and just campaign like the rest of everyone else is doing.

I'll leave you with a quote from Dan Le Sac (motivational musician):
"In this life you can be oh-so-smart or oh-so-pleasant,
For years I was smart; I recommend pleasant,
Being smart can make you rich and bring respect and reverence,
But the rewards of being pleasant are far more incandescent."

    ReplyDelete
  75. We only have republicans in this race. All three reached out to democrats. You cannot win without the democrat vote. If Nerren or graves are on a sample ballot that's not proof they support Obama. It's proof democrats support them.

Are graves supporters stating that they don't want democrat support? Nerren has donations and support from all areas of the district. Would whit denounce any democrat support? Of course not!

So graves supporters say" Nerren has support of powerful republicans and powerful democrats.". Sounds like A balanced man who can preside over the entire district.

    ReplyDelete
  76. The fact that Nerren supporters have been stating that no one went in the booth with Nerren, and the sample ballots are the only evidence. That's all that is needed. He paid for those sample ballots to be produced, and if he only did it for votes and did not vote for Obama then that makes him a hypocrite and a bit of a sham using trickery to convince people to vote. It's the fact that he is getting caught up in what's either a lie or a mistake. If he lied, he may lose the Democratic vote. If he didn't lie, well he lost the people in the Republican Party of Louisiana already.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Nerren was smart in the fact of mailing it the flyer out on the day before Thanksgiving. Everyone is home and more apt to read it. Where his mistake lies is the content of the flyer. It is my preception and all that has read it that he was trying to send the message that Whit was suspended, lied etc. Nerren plants the seeds of doubt well, yet when he planted the seed that he was an Obama supporter, being on the same sample ballot, its a lie? Which is it? How can one mailer be factual and the other not? One is a negative to him, that is why. Nerren knew what he was doing in both cases. To me, it shows he will stoop to any level to get what he wants. Using whatever angel it takes, yet he is a man of integrity? What is this world coming to!

    ReplyDelete
  78. Where is the falsity or untruth in the mailing? Graves was suspended!!! Even though the suspension was deferred he was still suspended. The Supreme Court said so. Don't be fooled. We have NEVER elected a judge in this district that has a history of disciplinary sanctions. A vote for graves makes us look like a bunch of fools

    ReplyDelete
  79. A kid got detention in high school, but they decided that that wasn't right so he didn't have to go. A guy almost got the courage to ask a girl out, but at the last minute he changed his mind. The college football team went for 2, but they missed it. Graves got suspended, but it was defered. What do all of these stories have in common? The kid went on to be valedictorian, the guy found something better, the football team went on to win a national championship, and Graves moved on and hasn't got in trouble since. Everyone has their mistakes, but that doesn't mean the person(s) can't be great. All of this dwelling on the past needs to stop.

"If you can't forgive and forget how's this? Forget forgiving and just accept it, then that's it. That's how it's gotta be. So you can move on with your life and be free"

    ReplyDelete
  80. None of those stories have anything in common. Im sure everyone has accepted that whit Graves made a mistake and he was punished for that mistake. But I for one am not going to forget it now that he is asking for my vote to be of all things a judge. Sorry.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Sugar, I think you have a negative brainwashing.

    ReplyDelete
  82. I think it's almost shameful. If you know that you have that kind of skeleton in your closet and you still get in a political race then you get what you deserve

    ReplyDelete
  83. Those skeletons will get you every time. Vote Obama and Nerren.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I could not believe the republican party endorsed Graves. I checked it out and it is true. Just because Mike paid to cause blacks to vote? Why? We always pay blacks to vote around here.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The logic behind that comment is why the Republicans backed Graves!!

  85. Well, well, well, Mr. Integrity and Mr ethics? Guess we better vote Graves. First to start a smear campaign in an ethical Judges race? Not my kind of Judge, sorry.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Judge Slattery was right after all about the under current from rumors planted by Nerren camp.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Obviously, mr graves knew this was going to be a big deal. Being suspended even if it was deferred and still allowed to practice, is a big deal. I hope this puts it to bed because, as you can see, it is all everyone is talking about

    ReplyDelete
  88. Whit Graves knew Nerren was going to bring it on. Whit knew Judge Slattery would never do it but he knew Nerren would. Nerren said suspended on flyer without saying deferred. Wish Judge Slattery had made run off so we wouldn't be embarrassing ourselves again like what happened in Judge race in 2008.

    ReplyDelete
  89. This district has never elected a judge that has been sanctioned by the Supreme Court. A vote for graves embarrasses all of us. Nerren seems like an honest and fair person.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Anon @ 4:30
You are why I feel sorry for that dead horse.

    -Z

    ReplyDelete
  91. 4:30 Ah, I think that may be incorrect. I am not sure of "sanctions" but we elected a judge that had IRS liens levied against him. He had to clear those liens before he could be seated.

    ReplyDelete
  92. IRS liens? Who was that? Cox, Self, who?

    ReplyDelete
  93. I just know from my attorney friends about our judges that have served here. If we elect someone with a sullied reputation with sanctions against him it will be a black mark on our district. Not to mention the fact that mr graves is a DWI lawyer I mean , why don't we just elect the guy in the hat? If we have a good reputation already, why jeopardize it?

    ReplyDelete
