This Week in Bossier

Just as Bossier was reeling from the brutal murder of James Harber last week, another tragedy has struck close to home.
The Bond Disappearance
Ann Bond was reported missing when she didn't show up for work. Deputies went to her home on Wemple Road, where they found her car in the garage but no one home. Bossier Detectives saw enough suspicious evidence to get a search warrant for the house.
They contacted her estranged husband Robbie Bond by phone and he promised to come immediately to aid them in the search. He didn't show.
From the evidence at the scene, the Bossier Sheriff obtained a warrant for 2nd degree murder. Bond's truck was spotted at a rest stop in Southern Mississippi Friday morning and when Mississippi law officers knocked on the windows to awaken him, he shot himself.
He was taken into custody and transported to a hospital where he is said to be in fairly stable condition, Bossier Parish Detectives are in Mississippi to question him and try to ascertain the whereabouts of Mrs. Bond.
The Parkway/Nichole Bourgeois saga continues.
School Board President Eddy Ray Presley has apologized for calling some of his constituents 'morons', but barely. It was one of those "I'm sorry but...." type of apologies.
Meanwhile, the Parkway Education Coalition has engaged local attorney John E. Settle, Jr. to represent them in their dealings with the Bossier Parish School Board.
Superintendent D.C. Machen has said, however, that he will give no weight to public opinion on the lawsuits and problems that seem to plague Parkway and Principal Bourgeois.
Attorney Settle has made several public information requests to the Board.
You can read about his efforts on Forward Now.
In the meantime, though hope is waning, let's all pray that Ann Bond is safe.

  1. What a week. I hate to say it but I see more of these murder-suicides happening in this city in the future. I see all these neighborhoods popping up with these large houses which I feel people can't afford and people getting themselves into financial trouble. I bet when you get down to the real issue of the Bonds' I bet money is going to be right there at the top. My thoughts and prayers go out to Annie's family.

  2. How do you know what other people can afford? What a stupid comment!

  3. It's happened 3 times in Bossier over he past year or so. Husband kills his wife then turns the gun on himself. There has got to be more to it than just a pending divorce. It's just an observation. Bossier is a different place today than with different morals. All I see is everyone trying to out do everyone.

  5. The PD and FD have gotten %10 in annual increases while the other employees have received nothing except the %2 last January and was wiped off due to the federal rise in taxes.

I am am wrong someone please correct this post.

This does not compute when there is a hiring and wage freeze because the city is broke. Eliminate one position hire two and promote three.

No raises for utilities, streets, parks and other department workers that help provide the revenue to PD and FD with a water plant that is over sized and and sewer plants that are over sized. Boon doggles galore.

    Some one please investigate.

    But it's for the future,ppphhhhttt.

  8. The PD and FD have not gotten a 10% raise or any increase for that matter. The PD and FD received the same 2% raise that everyone got.

  9. Uhm, over the last five years I believe that PD and FD did get %10 raises cumulative because of state law when other departments did not. Plus that raise FD got through shrewd political savvy, when the election was held on a Tuesday. Low turn out was a shoe in for the FD. Family and friends were enough to get that passed. Much respect for PD and FD but come on council.

Every one else HAS NOT had a raise in the last five years except for the %2 that was nulled by Fed tax raises hence smaller bring home pay with a two percnt raise.

The only folks getting raises are promotions and the Utilities Director. My guess through a contract.

All in the minutes of the City Council and some citizens are reading this. Be aware and acknowledge.

    Take care of your people.

  10. Very informed folks that know what and how the inner workings are quitting and bettering themselves because of young inexperienced so called leaders.

Mileage and experience/hands on folks that are in the know,,, is not a bad thing. Please respect that City Council.

Look what Barak Obama has done. This city should not have to back peddle to achieve the cyclical changes of a system that is proven to work.

    Trust proven technologies and methods.

  11. I glad they built water and sewer plants for the future. Who would build one for today? That would be stupid and cost more in the long run.

  12. Nice to note that as soon as they were re-elected our great city council decides we need a 41% increase in sewer rates. Not one of these people brought this up during the election and now $15/mo. increase. They need to revise the use of these one time funds that they have used for Cyber, Parking Garage, Centry-Link, etc. and never asked the people how they want their monies spent. We have never been told about that Cyber deal - whos in their and how much money have we made off this $12.5million expenditure, all those big jobs coming into Bossier. They could increase these fees a little at a time instead of all or nothing attitude this bunch has. I am sure that the extra fees will not bother these guys as most came from money and have business that they can just pass the cost on to their customers. I hope the people of Bossier City will start calling their councilman and voice their opinion one way or the other. We are becoming just like the state and DC with wanting more and more money from the taxpayers each year and spending like fools. All this one time money needs to be re-visted as to its use.

  13. They did this during the last election. We keep electing them though.

    ReplyDelete
  14. There was no reason to bring it up during the election, as only one of them had an opponent. As long as no one runs against them and they are re-elected, it sort of sends a message of 'you're doing a good job'.

  15. Thanks for the laugh, November 21, 2013 at 9:33 AM. I made the earlier comments and you put me in my deserved place. I still believe bigger is not better and this town will not grow as fast as the city leaders think. Quit wasting the money on boat anchors.

Be subtle and treat your employees well. Moral is a good thing to have instead of the screw you attitude that is prevalent amongst the city employees.

  21. AnonymousNovember 23, 2013 at 4:30 PM,,,,,,,, Can't you come up with something a little more original.

The above commentator, I keep hearing how good Chief McWilliams is and how much good and better he is doing compared to the last Chief.

As a citizen, I am bewildered how that resolution is worded. It just seems to make no sense.

    2. Yep, McWilliams is probably the best chief BCPD has had since... He's the type that just doesn't come along all the time. His ideas on running the department is the envy of police chiefs everywhere.
Those are the lines they want people to hear, so I'm complying.
Now I need to go take off the hip waders because the party line b.s. I just spewed is getting too deep.

    4. @ November 29 @ 7;21, If you can't figure it oit then you're part of the problem with Bossier. Here, let me explain. Bossier (the parish, school board, city) is being run by good old boys taking care of their family (that's called nepotism), political favors, or a certain "civic organization" called the Masons and the Shriners.
The public is told, and employees are told to tell the public" nothing could be better, although it's pure b.s., and when the b.s. is pointed put the person is called a "disgruntled employee" or the person is told "if you don't like it move to Shreveport". Or if there is no defense as to what's going on the response to the public is, "Well, at least we're no Shreveport!"
Things aren't that good in Bossier. Trhe public is getting ripped off. Elliott Stonchipher has written several artiicles which lists and explains the corruption, but he's labled a nutcase by the poweres that be, but instead of sitting back and analyzing what Mr. Stonecipher wrote, the public cones to the conclusionn, "Well, if the boys at city hall says he's a nut, then he's a nut."
Like I said, if you can't figure it out, then you're part of the problem.

  25. So this past week in south Bossier did not start well with the Wednesday trash pick up on Thursday followed by a city truck picking up the leave bags. I thought this was contracted, hence the higher fees.
