Monica Hudson Fundraiser

I attended Monica Hudson's fundraiser at Silver Star tonight, she had a pretty good turnout. It was from 5 to 8, when I got there at 6:30 there were a number of people coming and going. She was answering questions, discussing her plans for the office and sharing anecdotes about working for Wilna Mabry.

Midway through coming and going

Monica with Paul Carmouche and volunteers ready to serve food

Chow time

The inevitable mingling

If you are a candidate for office and would like to address the voters with your platform for office, please send a few paragraphs to mybossier@gmail.com and we will publish it.  Attach a picture if you like and we’ll include it.

  1. I attended both fundraisers so I could see how both candidates interacted with the persons at the events. I believe the way a person carries themselves and interacts with others tells a great deal about their character. I have read many things about both the candidates and in order for me to make my decision it was imperative that I see both ladies in person. I noticed both candidates are strong figures. unfortunately strength is not the most important skill in this race. I noticed at Mrs. Sessions event that she was not comfortable in her own skin. It seemed to me she was over compensating for something and it wasn't sure until she spoke I realized what she was compensating for. In my opinion I feel Mrs. Sessions lacks the education necessary to lead this office. However, she does have one thing on her side and that is experience in the office. Another thing I noticed was her lack of communication with the persons at the event . Mrs.Sessions stayed glued to her small circle as if she were not interested in mingling with the people who (excuse the expression) are footing her bill. I was not impressed but I still kept an open mind. Moving on. At Ms.Hudson's Event she met me at the door with a big smile and a warm greeting. she personally walked me into the event and showed me around. I immediately noticed the large group of supporters already in the venue at it was only 5:30( unlike the previous event). I was very Impressed with Ms. Hudson's elegance and even thou she didn't get up and speak her educated and witty way was very noticeable and attractive. I am proud to say I have made my decision. I will be backing Ms. Monica Hudson for the next Bossier Parish Clerk of Court. We need new blood and bold ideas. I believe Monica Hudson will make this happen!

  2. Education?! What a joke! If the roles were reversed and Sessions was the Bossier good old boys' chosen we would be hearing how education isn't important. It's funny how "education" is all of a sudden become so important in Bossier when in the past people who can barely tie their shoes were the best candidate for the job. All one has to do is look at some departments in the city and parish to see that. Start with the police department and you will see education wasn't on anyone's mind when adminstrators were chosen.

    1. You have a very good point. This is why it is so important that we as voters start making better decisions about electing people to represent us! YES education is very important it is the ONLY way Bossier Parish will ever move forward! My Father told me "if you always do what you always did then you will always get what you always got". Come on Bossier Parish let's embrace change for the better. Monica Hudson you have my vote!

    2. For one who has several degrees, I think I am qualified to speak about the so called "more educated". I can testify that experience is education. One does not need a degree to equal that. I had rather have a candidate who knows the ins and outs of this particular job. I will not be asking the Clerk's office to perform any surgical procedures nor represent me in court. I am appalled that politics has to stoop to such low levels.

  4. Anon @ 8:19, I will call B.S. on your comment. Sessions is the good old boys' choice when Hudson works in the D.A.'s Office for Schyler Marvin?! How hard was it to not crack a smile when you wrote that?

  6. Sessions has no education and can not make an appearance without her co-workers which are missing work. My question is are they taking vacation time or is that part of the good old boy system?

  7. Maybe we should get the inquisitor to see if those girls in the Clerks office are taking vacation time to campaign for sessions and if not why are the taxpayers paying them to campaign???????

And as for as education Jill Sessions is the most qualified for The clerks office. And for Hudson when will she have the time to run the clerks office with her in DA'S office and her realtor business. And as for as the people trash Jill anonymously just stop being cowards and show who you are unless it's her cowardly the lion blonde and the brown headed big mouth doing all the mudslinging. JS

  15. Very impressive how Jim was able to get pictures of all 20 people who attended Hudson's fundraiser. The problem is that for every 10 donors that give $50 to Hudson there is one donor who gives $500 to Sessions. Money talks and BS walks. Same as Marvin-Graves race. Marvin had lots of big donors while Graves had lots of lunch money donors. At the end of the day we live in a capitalistic society so Benjamin Franklin donors outlast lunch money donors.

  16. Yet all of that money couldn't win him Bossier Parish, Webster carried him back to office. This is a totally different scenario. As to the crowd, as I stated above, it was a pretty good crowd, considerably more than 20 people, but good snarky remark.
As I've said before, I don't have a dog in this hunt. The election is still 6 months away. I will say that from my experience, Monica is reaching out and Jill is doing the opposite. Monica invited me to her event by a phone call and with an invitation in the mail. I had no idea Jill was having one, seems she actually had a meet and greet and a fundraiser. I wasn't invited.
Of course, if she hadn't unfriended me on Facebook I might have had knowledge of it.
Having said that, I'm still withholding judgment, someone else might announce. If not, at some point, I may endorse someone - or I may not.
As far as the comment at 6:29 PM, I did post pictures of Monica's 'affair'. I was invited to attend and I did.

  24. An insider is a member of any group of people of limited number and generally restricted access. The term is used in the context of secret, privileged, hidden or otherwise esoteric information or knowledge: an insider is a "member of the gang" hence knows things outsiders don't, including insider jargon.

In our complicated and information-rich world, the concept of insider knowledge is popular and pervasive, as a source of direct and useful guidance. In a given situation, an insider is contrasted with an outside expert: the expert can provide an in-depth theoretical analysis that should lead to a practical opinion, while an insider has firsthand, material knowledge. Insider information may be thought of as more accurate and valuable than expert opinion.

  25. Members of the "Ole Skool Bossier Gang" are both gang members and ambassadors of Civic promotion. In this context "gang member" confers no negative connotation and should not be construed as such. Nevertheless considering your educational level one would expect to have to continuously spoon feed countless definitions to you as you obviously lack mental fortitude to comprehend the most basic statements.

  26. Just got through doing my weekly joyride around Bossier Parish and saw Jill Sessions' signs everywhere but no Monica Hudson signs. Could this be a sign of the huge difference in fundraising dollars? Considering that both these candidates started with little to no name recognition it is clear Jill Sessions has taken over this race. I look for a 65-35 result at a minimum. Hudson's close confidants need to break the news that the race is over and the best thing to do at this point is withdraw from the race and save some money. The election is only five months away !!!

I'm out due to the fact that the Ms Sessions has been accusing the other side of mudsling when she is the one mudsling. every time someone says something she has to be defensive like everything is about her. This is not the case. The best campaign strategy is to observe and not act childish and show your youth . Her inability to be an adult and to control her people is a turn off. I don't even know Hudson but will most likely vote for her . Have no idea why she has to be trashed so bad on this site.

I also think you are on a different blog because most everything I have read has been negative towards Session and mudslinging coming from Hudson supporters..... Now that being said I also have known Jill for over 30 years and non of what is being posted is true.... I know for a fact Hudson and her supporters have made many untrue statements to supporters of sessions that they did not realize were supporters of sessions.... Hudson needs to run on her own Merits and stop focusing on trying to make sessions look like someone she clearly is not!!!!!! It is not just this blog Hudson and her supporters use to mudsling! I truly feel anyone who knows Sessions or worked with her and really knows her will see through the lies and mudslinging and continue to support her. I am not sure why Hudson and her supporters feel this is how you get elected because its not.

This is not a detective show its an election . Want you be talking to the other side trying to get there supporters to vote for you.. And if they are talking about her lack of education is that not true. Does she only have a 12th grade education with no college or managerial experience? Then how can that be spreading lies ? This is other peoples opinion and how they see things. Maybe you should blog some lies that the other side has said against Ms. Sessions and let public opinion decide . 4. So even though I followed the rules . . . no personal attacks . . . my comment gets removed without explanation. And the attacks on Jill for her alleged photo op at the Council on Aging, campaigning on duty, lack of education, etc., etc., etc., doesn't get removed. It's your blog . . . I guess it make sense to you.

    5. Your comment reintroduced a subject that I wouldn't allow. Whether you agree or not, questioning the motive of the Council on Aging check doesn't reach that level. I didn't see any accusation of campaigning on duty. As for education, that goes to qualifications, it is not a personal attack,. Enough of this, discuss the issues, what direction do you think the clerk's office should head, how do you think your candidate would do a better job than the other candidate.
      No more of this.

  75. Jill, I apologize. I haven't looked at the comments for a couple of days and no idea all of that was on here. Commenters, stop the personal attacks, tell us why you think your candidate is the best. Reat Rule #1:

  76. Why is my candidate the best?
My Candidate is the best because she does not lie.
My candidate is the best because she asked my permission personal before her campaing stuck a sign in my yard
My candidate is the best because she has an outstanding job and education back ground under her belt.
My candidate is the best because she wants to bring change.

  80. If tthe former comments are any indication of folks who would even recognize a person with an education, I would be very surprised. I think there are some desperate voters trying to get a losing candidate a handful of votes. Am surprised at the extent they will go. Ms. Sessions is by far the most qualified and best candidate possible. God bless you with your misguided attempts to confuse and distort the facts. Enough is enough.

If yall keep saying that then tell us just saying it means nothing. You have got to back that up with something.

  86. How bout someone research the crooks involved in the development of River Bluff? How many millions of tax payer dollars will be paid via federally funded flood insurance due the arrogance and stupidity of someone to build on the wrong side of the levee then come crying to taxpayer's for reimbursement. What Bossier officials issued building permits, development certificate, etc? How much money was wasted on crossing arms for a subdivision that is all but extinct? Who would ever build or buy a home in River Bluff now?

    1. Those same people that developed River Bluff are Jill Sessions backers. Saw them putting up sessions signs. You know the "good ole boys".

  88. Jim, can you please tell me why Mrs. Sessions says the Clerk of Courts office is not funded by the tax payers? If that is the case then why is it an elected position? I am just wondering.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. That is a good question. Taxes directly pay for the office space that the clerk is provided on 2 floors of the courthouse. Everyday expenses are covered by the fees that the clerk charges the taxpayers to file documents or petitions. The courts have ruled, however, that any part of a fee that doesn't cover the actual cost of the transaction is indeed a tax. In other words, it is the government making you do something and paying them money for it, call it a tax or not it is your money into the coffers of a government agency.

    2. Jim,
Do you know who can be contacted about Mrs. Sessions putting up 2 x 4 signs in subdivisions where there are restricted covenants? Mrs. sessions subdivision where she resides does not allow yard signs so she is cluttering up other neighborhoods with her oversized signs that also have restricted covenants. Thank you

  89. That question and other questions have been asked and no answer has been provided. They will have to answer these questions sooner or later.

  90. In all instances Jill Sessions obtains written approval from the land owner to place signs on their property. That right is guaranteed by the Bill of Rights of the U.S. Constitution. In addition, Jill Sessions doesn't place signs in subdivision with covenants against political signs. The homeowner has placed the sign in their yard and it is the duty and responsibility of the homeowner's association to rectify the situation not Jill Sessions. Please speak with some intelligence and not with some jargon straight from the trailer park.

    1. I don't mean to be ugly but I live in a very well know high class neighborhood in North Bossier. I was jogging not to long ago and I saw Mrs. Sessions her self along with a hand full of other people putting very big sings in yards. Our neighborhood does have a sign size ordinance. My neighbor just recently took hers down because of the issue. I think the above statement is inaccurate. Again I don't mean to be rude I just wanted my voice herd on the issue.

    2. There was a big Jill Sessions sign in my yard when I came back from vacation. I was not asked to be put in my yard because no one was there. I then put the sign in my trash can that sits up right next to my house behind a little fence. The next day the big sign was taken out of my trash can which again is on my property behind my fence! I saw this and was furious! and that's not all! They had the audacity to put a small sign in its place. How dare they intrude on my private property! That is against the law!! maybe the Sessions campaign needs to read a law book!

  93. speaking of sings... Mr. Jim I was wondering if it is considered a taboo for people running for a political position to back other people that are also running for a political position? I ask because Mr.Ryan Gatti has thrown his hat in the ring to run for state senate. I think that is great but because he clearly supports one of the candidates for clerk of court will that affect his chances? like what I mean is what if voters are for him but they see that huge sign that is in front of his office supporting a candidate for clerk of court and then they change their mind about voting for him because they don't agree with the candidate he is backing.

    sincerely,
    A recently confused voter

    2. Sounds like Sessions is worried bout there campaign. If your so far ahead why are you trying to raise money again? When is Sessions going to give us her resume . Lack of education will be the deciding factor is this little race. Just because a sign is in a yard does not mean that person will vote for you.

    3. "Based on their yard sings" lol what does that even mean!? sounds to me the sessions campaign is trying to take the heat off of them from all the very public lies they have all be caught in! Just because your sign is in their yard doesn't mean they will vote at all or for you! Grow up!

  97. Mr. Jim,
I don't care about sings! I want to know more about the education of each candidate! My vote will fall with education since I am an educator with a Masters degree. could you do some kind of comparison between the two candidates? specifically the education of each candidate?

    1. An educator with a master's degree who can't spell or use proper grammar.

That is EXACTLY why education does not matter. I work in a government agency alongside workers who have no college hours who are more capable than some with master's degrees.
