Gatti vs Burns

The race for State Senate in District 36 is heating up, as Attorney Ryan Gatti is taking on State Representative Henry Burns for the seat that Robert Adley is vacating because of term limits.
This one will be very interesting to watch. Both Burns and Gatti are campaigning as conservative Republicans.
Burns has a solid following from his days in the House, but Gatti seems to be generating a lot of support.
At this point, I'm not sure that Burns' tenure in the State House will be a blessing or a curse for him; the legislature is not in great favor right now. My hunch (and it's only that), is that Burns may do well in the more rural areas of the district, while Gatti will do better in the city.
We'll see.

  1. Since Burns voted for many tax increases it may be time to send someone that will represent the people. We need "problem solvers" in Baton Rouge not "can kickers".

  2. The only part of Bossier City that is in this District is the Stockwell box.

  3. And you think that Gatti will be a "problem solver"? Hardly!!! Burns went back to Baton Rouge this year with Bobby having made a mess of everything. We avoided big tax increases to try and balance the budget. Burns has done a much better than average job and I think will be a fine replacement for Adley.

  4. What did Burns propose as far as any cost cutting measures? As far as Burns going back and Bobby having made a mess of everything, Burns has been there as long as Bobby so he would have to also be part of the problem. I agree, Jindal made a mess and sent all the funds available but the Legislature had to agree. And I would consider a $50.00 increase for vehicle licenses to be a pretty big tax increase. Replacing Adley with Burns equals status quo. Next session will be ame song second verse.

  5. I think Mr. Lynn Austin should run for the office. Former Bossier City Police Chief, Former Head of Bossier Parish School Security, Former Bossier City Marshal.

  8. We need to put more Christians in office like Ryan Gatti . We need to get away from the old politics like Burns who has gotten our cities, state and country in the shape that it is in. We need someone that will stand up for the people and not for a certain few.

  9. Ryan Gatti is a man of his word, someone who lives out his faith, and someone who will do what he says. We need more people like him, cause we will know exactly what he is going to do down there in Baton Rouge.

    1. You know he isn't who you see at church. He is a an attorney and not who you think.

    2. If this were actually true then you would give undisputable evidence for these allegations. As you have only vaguely referenced something that you believe to be true, then I can and will not believe these accusations you have brought against him.

    3. Gatti is not running for saint- he's running for senator. By the way church is a hospital FOR sinners.

  10. Ryan served a one year term on the Board of Regents. He understands higher education. He is a product of public school and graduated valedictorian (1 of 2) from his class. He graduated from LSU Baton Rouge and LSU Law School. His wife is a product of public schools and she received her undergraduate, masters, and PhD from LSU Baton Rouge in Psychology. He understands education issues. Call him or text him at 560-6587 if you have any questions.

  11. It's time for fresh blood in Baton Rouge. If we want problems fixed or new creative ideas we have to elect people intelligent enough to come up with them. No offense to Mr Burns but he just isn't very smart. He is a nice guy but has no clue how to fix any of the problems we face. The whole switching sides to go around term limits just rubs me wrong and I think it is exactly the kind of entitled political climate people are tired of. Mr Gatti is probably way over qualified for this position but with the extreme problems this state faces I'm putting my vote behind a guy that has what it takes to get us back on track i think Gatti is that guy. Not a guy that will wait to see what everyone else is doing. I'm really concerned Mr Burns will be completely lost with Jindal gone he will have no clue how to vote without the Jindal machine to guide him.

  12. Ryan is a terrific person who has always listened and treated people fairly. The legislative process requires independence. Every year there are a large number of bills introduced to further erode your consumer rights. Ryan is a staunch supporter and advocate for consumer protection and will not allow special interests to continue to pass unreasonable legislation without a fight. Best wishes to Ryan in his endeavors. David Szwak, Bodenheimer, Jones & Szwak, LLC, Chairman, Consumer Protection Section, Louisiana State Bar Assn., and President, Bossier Little League.

  13. It is time to get rid of the incumbents and put some fresh blood in there. Burns is nothing but a Adley clone and will do whatever it takes to get along with the status quo. A Ryan needs to do in this race is to start putting out his voting record and believe me, this last sessions votes by Burns will speak for themselves. Put the record out there and let people see what bills Burns got approved that really helped the economy (guns in churches, no cell phones or texting in a school zone, etc. all the big matters) How did he vote on all these tax increases that they passed down there this session. Burns pretty much went along to get along .

  14. Ryan Gatti is intelligent, honest, and trustworthy. If he supports an issue, he will not back down just to follow the status quo. If he believes an issue is detrimental to his constituents, he will vote against it every time. Ryan truly lives to honor and serve God, his family, and his friends. My vote is with Ryan Gatti, not because he is "fresh blood" for Baton Rouge but because he will always keep his promises to North Louisiana!

    2. I would also request that my supporters only post positive comments and nothing negative about any opponent in this race.

Do not feel the need "to defend me" As most of you know my morning starts with giving my eight year old child medicine through her feeding tube - so please know that a hurtful post, someone reminding me that escrow was not set up to pay property taxes on a few parcels of property I own, or someone taking pictures of grass on an empty lot instead of just calling me to let me know the lawn service needed to come more frequently--or a reminder my small business had months were we struggled in the last 15 years-- well those anonymous words aren't the worst thing I had to face today- and I'd rather you pray for the anonymous soul that posted them instead of defending me. Thanks! Ryan Gatti

    3. Your description of "fulltime" is exactly part of the problem with our Legislators. This is supposed to be parttime, but they have made it to be as beneficial as a fulltime job. What has the Legislature done in the past 8 years that we can say the State is better than before. IMO we need new faces who will address the problems.

    4. Ryan Gatti, where do you stand on school vouchers? Are you for school choice? What about homeschooling? Also, how do you view Common Core?

  16. Is Ryan Gatti still going to practice law after the election?

    1. Yes. I will still practice law. Mike Johnson and Alan Seabaugh are two examples of legislators that maintain a law practice while serving the public. - Ryan

  17. Ryan is a man with integrity. He will be a strong, conservative voice and a leader you can count on. Ryan is the Vice President of the Republican Party of Bossier Parish and a lifelong conservative. He will make tough, but right decisions for our families and our state. We have our brightest days ahead and #imwithryan .

  34. I proudly support Ryan Gatti!! He is a man of Faith and integrity, which is rare to find in politicians today!! In addition, he has core Christian values that the majority of the politicians will never have! Louisiana needs a change and Ryan has a vested interest in our state.... One main reason... because he's raising a family here! He sincerely cares about what happens to Louisiana!! If you haven't met him and you don't know anything about him, I strongly recommend taking time out of your busy schedule and meet him!! You are missing out if you haven't met him and are voting against him!!

    2. "FAITH AND INTEGRITY" Mr. GATTI professes to be and Paula states such as reasons to support him. He supports John Bel Edwards who in this past session was the primary oponent to Mike Johnsons freedom of religion bill. He was clearly doing the bidding of the gays, liberals, et al. Log into the video and see for yourself.

    3. Mr. Gatti taught my kids in chapel for over four years- every weekday morning some of those years. Are you calling him a liberal?

    4. Just because Mike Johnson's bill had 'religion' in the title, doesn't mean that it was a good bill or would have made a good law.

      Delete
    5. If the bill wasnt a valid bill then why are the churches preparing for the onslaught. Mr. Gatti must agree i saw him at Mike Johnsons meeting at First Bossier the other night.

    6. Probably because it's not necessary, Louisiana doesn't have a law that forbids discrimination against gays.

  45. Luckily Jill Sessions convinced Gatti to run. At his point they are a force to be reckoned with. Sessions now endorses Gatti and vice versa. Nice quid quo pro. The train is gaining a lot of speed and you are about to lose the chance to jump on before it's going too fast.
