Louisiana Republican Party endorses Jeff Cox for Court of Appeal

Baton Rouge, LA – The Republican Party of Louisiana announced today that it is endorsing Judge Jeff Cox in the race for 2nd Circuit Court of Appeal.

"Judge Jeff Cox is a lifelong Republican and in his 12 years on the bench, he has shown integrity and fairness to everyone who has come before his court.  He will work diligently with law enforcement to protect communities throughout North Louisiana and will impartially apply the law, without legislating from the bench.  He is an honest and reputable public servant and we are confident he will be a tremendous addition to the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeal,” said Anne Price, Deputy Director of the Republican Party of Louisiana.

Judge Jeff Cox currently serves the 26th Judicial District Judge and has run a campaign based on five core principals:
  • Faith, family and service
  • Fair, honest and respectful treatment for everyone
  • Protect the U.S. Constitution and our 2nd Amendment right
  • Strictly interpret the law instead of legislating from the bench
  • No special treatment for any special interest
Judge Cox has been re-elected twice, without opposition, as the District Judge for Bossier and Webster Parishes in Division C. These two parishes comprise a majority of the votes in the Second Circuit. The other seven parishes include: Bienville, Caldwell, Claiborne, Jackson, Lincoln, Union and Winn.  He and wife, Susan, are the parents of two children, live in Bossier and attend First Baptist of Bossier

  2. Judge Cox is by far the best candidate and should win easily. The fact that Carraway has begun mudslinging so early shows how desperate his campaign and supporters truly are. Early polling shows 60/40 Cox so follow the winning candidate. Look for some last minute knockout counter blows that will more than clinch the win for Judge Cox. --Dr. Scoop

  3. Might want to take a new poll, Jeff. Judge Caraway is leading and rightfully so. Why would people promote one of the worst judges North Louisiana has ever had?

    ReplyDelete
  4. Mudslinging? All I've seen are facts from Caraway. Of Jeff Cox's cases appealed to the court of appeals, 53% of them have been reversed. That's a fact jack.

  5. This is starting to heat up! Unfortunately for Jeff I think he has more skeletons in his closet than Carraway if this escalates.

  6. It's actually around 58-42, Cox over Caraway.

  7. You can stick a fork in Caraway. He's done.

  8. A great indicator of a quality leader is the ability to accept himself according to our great Creator. Carraway's dyed hair is offensive to voters who choose not to fight the natural aging process. Judge Cox will be a great asset to the Second Circuit.

  11. Judge Cox has broad based support from law enforcement, LABI, local business people, elected officials and the Republican Party. Caraway is supported by a bunch of Shreveport attorneys.

    4. Actually. When the election is over we will find out who controls the content and the accuracy thereof.

    5. Does he have to take that website down now? It is still up and functioning?

  12. Judge Cox's reputation with criminals has helped make the streets of Bossier Parish safer. No criminal wants to be in Judge Cox's court because they will go to jail. It will be very difficult if not impossible to find someone to fill Judge Cox's district court shoes.

  13. It is a shame that a two term appellate judge has to resort to a smear campaign against a distinguished trial court judge, all in an attempt to hang on to his seat at all cost. Judge Cox didn't have to challenge Caraway. He did so at the urging of law enforcement and business and community leaders who realize Caraway is out of touch with the electorate who put him in the seat he occupies twenty years ago. And he has run a positive campaign commensurate with the high office he seeks. Caraway can continue to run a negative campaign to the end. Judge Cox will continue to stand on his record and the support he enjoys from law enforcement and business and community leaders. Not to mention the state Republican Party.

  18. "A suspected murderer was arrested for rape after being pursued by law enforcement for years..A district judge set his bond at half a million dollars...Judge Caraway agreed to reverse the district court bond decision, allowing him to go free...The Supreme Court reversed Judge Caraway...The suspected murderer was arrested, again, before he could flee and he confessed to having his wife murdered..." Follow the money, follow common sense, follow the leader...it doesn't matter who you follow because in the end Justice Prevails and Judge Cox will be elected to the Second Circuit.

  19. Speaking of endorsements, I find it interesting that 5 days after writing a $33,500 check to the Webster United Minority Voters League, Jeff Cox was able to also secure their endorsement. I don't recall reading about this endorsement on his push card. WUMVL wrote a glowing review of Jeff Cox's candidacy on their facebook page, its a shame he refused to acknowledge their efforts publicly.

  20. Geaux Judge Jeff. Thank you Judge Cox for running an issue focused, positive campaign. In fact, word on the street is "who is running against Judge Cox." Like, Judge Cox is the incumbent. Then we have to explain, no, Judge Cox is not the incumbent. Law enforcement, asked him to run and he took up the cause. And now, his opponent, who they have never heard of, is going negative - blah blah blah.

Anyway, its all positive up here in Springhill. The very people working against you in Springhill are actually getting you votes.

    1. Law enforcement also supports Judge Caraway and he has done a great job over the past twenty years. Jeff Cox is running for one thing only: himself.

  21. Judge Cox's opponent unfortunately continues to resort to negative attacks against an honorable trial court judge who enjoys countless endorsements from Sheriffs, Mayors, District Attorneys, Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser, and the State Republican Party. Judge Caraway's actions are not worthy of the high office he holds and which he seeks reelection to. Apparently, his desperate attempts to hold on to "his seat" on the Court of Appeal know no bounds. I am proud to support Judge Cox who has run a positive, issue oriented campaign from the moment he announced he was running for the office. It is a shame his opponent won't do the same.

    2. Desperate candidates (and their surrogates) resort to desperate means. Judge Cox, on the other hand, runs on his outstanding record, and the backing of law enforcement. Unlike his opponent, who claims to be backed by law enforcement, Judge Cox has the endorsements to prove it. District Attorneys Schuyler Marvin and Chris Nevils. Sheriffs Steve Prator, Gary Sexton and Cranford Jordan. He's also been endorsed by the State Republican Party, the Bossier and Webster Parish Republican Parish Executive Committees, and the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry, and countless other mayors and other elected officials. These people know Judge Cox and know he is the right man for the job he is seeking.

    3. Mr. Truedat. Interesting you write "[t]hese people know Judge Cox"

That is what we are hearing out here too- they know Judge Cox. They always ask who his opponent his - who, who, who you say that is running against Judge Cox?

A lot of Hoot Owls up here in Springhill.

PS - where is Dr. Scoop?

  22. Caraway has also filed multiple complaints with the Judiciary Commission in an attempt to stop his own campaign's hemorrhaging. Sadly, these desperate attacks on the credibility of Judge Cox will backfire with the voters. Cox is ahead by double digits in Webster and Bossier Parish and has pulled ahead in Lincoln Parish. Caraway is backed by the aristocrats while Cox's commoner support will power the "good guys" to victory. Latest polling numbers show Caraway's negative onslaught has had little to no effect on the voters. --- Dr. Scoop

  24. So the Republican Party endorses a guy that gives $33,500 of his campaign money to an organization that is actively trying to generate as many votes as possible for Hillary Clinton. That makes a lot of sense. WAKE UP PEOPLE!! This is exactly the type of dirty politics that kills the Republican Party nation wide in a national election and makes us all look STUPID! I don't care about Jeff Cox and his "Win at any cost" strategy, I care about the Republican Party which has become a laughing stock because of nonsense just like this. I will not for Jeff Cox or any other so called republican that gets caught selling out on the party to further their own selfish political aspirations. Its embarrassing that the Republican Party condones this type of behavior. RIDICULOUS!!!!!

    2. You think those minority voters in Webster Parish are going to sway Louisiana to Clinton? Does this mean that Jay Caraway doesn't want the votes of anyone who supports Hillary Clinton? That's a specious argument.

      Delete
    3. Jim, you are absolutely right. Anyone with a lick of sense knows full well Hillary Clinton isn't going to win Louisiana. She couldn't win this state if Pope Francis campaigned for her throughout the state. Frankly, I would have thought Judge Caraway would have had more class than to stoop that low.

  25. So just because you support a minority group you all of a sudden become some vile human being. It's such racist views and rationales of you morons that has caused to Republican party to crumble nationwide. Your backwoods views and stances are quite repulsive.

  28. Caraway's mudslinging is finally starting to gain traction. Cox lead has dipped to single digits. Unfortunately for Caraway there is only six days until the election and not enough time to erase the deficit to Cox. Caraway's unprecedented mudslinging takes Bossier/Webster politics to new lows. The end result will be much closer than previously anticipated but Cox pulls out the victory 52-48. -Dr. Scoop

    ReplyDelete
  29. Caraway's mudslinging will not affect Cox's percentage spread. Cox's overwhelming support from law enforcement as well as the business community will propel Cox into this seat by a wide margin. Caraway's mudslinging is losing more votes than it is gaining. It is also galvanizing support for Cox in the minority community as well as among evangelicals. Pastor Andy Harris, one of the most powerful and influential pastors in North Loisiana has taken to Facebook to defend Judge Cox and firmly denounce Caraway's negative attacks. Many other Pastors are defending Cox against these negative, slimy attacks by Caraway. Look for a massive push by the Cox Campaign in the next six days, including an endorsement postcard by LABI and the State Republican Party as Cox solidifies a broad base of support across the nine parish district.

  33. I know the elections are over and Judge Jeff Cox won the election; but after reading all the comments, I feel compelled to share my thoughts. I personally know and know of Judge Jeff Cox and his family, and I KNOW He DOES Have Honorable integrity. He not only lives by Faith, he lives by his convictions of always doing what is right, just and fair for all. Just the fact that some here have spoken against him, attacking his good character and actions of defending/protecting innocent victims AND putting dangerous lawbreaking predators behind bars where they belong, shows the corruption and ill intentions of those attacking Honorable Judge Jeff Cox. It shows that he is being attacked because He DOES Do What is Right and Fair. I believe that although contrary to 'popular belief' of fabricating and deceptive predators speaking out lies against a just/fair/honest/honorable man of true integrity, that Good ALWAYS Wins over evil and bad ill-intentioned predators. Congrats to winning the election, Honorable Judge Jeff Cox. I am most thankful to GOD that you won the election. I have no doubt that you will always do the right thing, as a vessel of the LORD, help keep all safe, regardless of their faith preference or ethnicity. You are truly a Blessing. May the LORD always bless & keep you, your family, your staff and all who work with you within the judicial & law enforcement labor of love field work within our society, nation and world, helping make a positive impacting difference in live. Love Respect and Prayers Always, A Sister In The LORD
