He was one of few adults that was fun to be around for a young kid. Always laughing and kidding around. I miss him. Him and my dad were close friends, and I spent a lot of time with him.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7191599071198288307.post-56530446943210521812012-04-19T19:14:41.437-05:002012-04-19T19:14:41.437-05:00Anon at 7:00 pm. Jeepers...my beloved wife grew up just around the corner from Sammy's, and when she had a few pieces of change, her Mom would let her go down there and get some penny candy.

Of course, he had all them bad girlie magazines behind the counter...and I guess most of us remember how Sammy expired...

Regardless, he was always kind to the children.Andyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10945901944078164054noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7191599071198288307.post-27437727140965799192012-04-19T19:00:41.203-05:002012-04-19T19:00:41.203-05:00I remember as a little boy going in Sammy's gr...I remember as a little boy going in Sammy's grocery on E. Texas St. across from First Baptist Church. Sammy had a few of those. Seems like one was of a nude girl, and he had the hillbilly too. Me and brother loved opening the door and getting "peed" on as my dad and other grown ups looked on and laughed.

What an uptight society we have become.

That restaurant sounds like fun. I think I'll add it to my list of restaurants to go to.

As far as the ridiculous, uptight dad, my goodness, I wish my biggest problem was as small as his.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7191599071198288307.post-212411844065083082012-04-19T16:32:56.678-05:002012-04-19T16:32:56.678-05:00HA! My beloved Granddaddy took a trip back up to his hometown in North Carolina when I was probably 6 or 7 years old.

En route back home, he stopped somewhere and picked up this tourist item. It was an outhouse that was probably about 8 inches high. It had a door on it, and when you opened the door, a hillbilly with his overalls around his ankles swung around, and squirted water out of his private part.

All us kids laughed like crazy, and kept begging him to fill it back up again. I swear...we must have stayed awake all weekend giggling, and squirting (my Big Sis figured out how to fill it up, so we could keep playing with it while Granddaddy was asleep).

And, the hillbilly had a real "thing" sticking out, too!

Honestly, I don't think I've ever seen anyone as bad at faking outrage than this guy. I know that big time news coverage like KTBS can make somebody nervous, but he comes off as faking outrage, and like he's hoping for some gas money.

BTW...What 7 year old picks a Jap Hibachi Restaurant for her birthday celebration? I'm not saying the little girl didn't. But, when my kids were that age, it was McDonalds, or Chuck-E-Cheese. Doesn't pass the sniff test...Andyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10945901944078164054noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7191599071198288307.post-5698129356376439212012-04-19T11:56:02.247-05:002012-04-19T11:56:02.247-05:00They should charge the Dad.
