Throughout my lifetime, and I am an old man, the Springhill City Attorney has always been Ward Two Attorney, as well as 26th Judicial District ADA who prosecutes crimes from North Webster when they come up for trial in Minden. I don't think their association with the DA's office necessarily means that either Jacobs or Slattery is in Marvin's hip pocket. But both Marvin and Webster Sheriff Sexton have been concentrating their power, and there seems to be all sorts of dirty dealing going on.

All of the 150 text messages showed on Dani's phone as a different number which made it look like 150 different kids. How devestating could that be to someone currently contemplating taking her own life. She was depressed because of problems associated with Type 1 Diabetes, the problems faced by 15 year old girls in this day and age and from being relentlessly picked on by classmates each and every day she went to school, telling her things like:
you don't have a future, you have diabetes and will be blind and have your legs cut off...
callously laughing at her, making her burst into tears and run out of her classrooms crying...
and so many more outrageous things that I cannot bring myself to write any more because I am Danielle's Grammy.
I have been told by students that Jason knew of Danielle and her problems before he sent all those text messages.

Your comments about incumbents overlooks some of the collateral results that can come from the judge's race. You said that some of the blowback could only help John Slattery and Whit Graves but DA Marvin is in a win-win situation wtih Nerren and Slattery. Slattery is the city judge in Springhill and the city attorney is Charles Jacobs, an assistant DA for Marin. There are only two attorneys in Sprinhill, Slattery and Jacogs. If Slattery wins the election then Marvin's boy Jacobs will replace Slattery as judge without opposition. Slattery is not yet supported by Marvin but will be if Nerren comes in 3rd place again like he did when he ran for DA and there is a runoff between Slattery and Graves. There's no fight between Marvin and Slattery, Nerren just got Marvin's support first and with Marvin's slipping popularity he didn't want Nerren to mount another challenge for the DA's office in 2014, so the deal was made. If Slattery gets elected then Marvin wins two judge positions. After reading Graves' website I would vote for him anyway and with him not being associated with Marvin, it's a no-brainer.

If you would go back and read my original statement, you could see that my point is that we're already paying for legal representation, why not use it? Do you like paying twice for a product or service?

I said nothing that the school boards were required to use the DA, but that if they chose to use the DA, the DA could not refuse.

Anyone see John Settle's comments in the inquisitor? I know a lot of people don't care about his opinion but I just wanted to point out something I found interesting. He made a comment about Jimmy Hall but failed to call him by name. He didn't have a problem naming everyone else. I'm just wondering why is everyone so scared of him?

As usual, you mislead the public by curiously leaving out sub section B which reads:

B. Notwithstanding any other provision of this Section or any law to the contrary, nothing shall prevent
the governing authorities of the parishes of St. Charles, St. John the Baptist, Ouachita,
Morehouse, Calcasieu, and Vermilion or any city or parish school board in the state from each employing
or retaining its own attorney to represent it generally. The employment of attorneys by said governing
authorities shall relieve the district attorneys of the judicial districts serving the parishes of St.
Charles, St. John the Baptist, Ouachita, Morehouse, Calcasieu, and Vermilion from any further duty of
representing said governing authorities, and THE EMPLOYMENT OF AN ATTORNEY BY ANY CITY OR PARISH SCHOOL BOARD SHALL RELIEVE THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY OF THE JUDICIAL DISTRICT SERVING SUCH CITY OR PARISH SCHOOL BOARD FROM ANY FURTHER DUTY OF REPRESENTING SUCH SCHOOL BOARD. (emphasis added)

Bossier Parish School Board (and Caddo and Webster and DeSoto and many more) have chosen to not employ the DA as their lawyer and hire their own private counsel. That relieves the DA in each of those parishes from representing the school board.

The Bossier Parish School Board, per section B above, can choose its own lawyer (and did) and in almost all parishes school boards do hire private, civil litigators to represent them.

Again, why would you post sections A and C (skipping B) if you were not trying to distort the truth?
