Gustav Warnings for Northwest Louisiana

From the National Weather Service in Shreveport:
THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR PORTIONS OF SOUTH CENTRALARKANSAS...SOUTHWEST ARKANSAS...NORTH CENTRAL LOUISIANA...NORTHWEST LOUISIANA...SOUTHEAST OKLAHOMA...EAST TEXAS ANDNORTHEAST TEXAS.
DAY ONE:
THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT...SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL DEVELOP WITH THE ONSET OFWARMING TEMPERATURES IN A MOIST AND UNSTABLE AIRMASS ACROSSTHE NORTHERN SECTIONS PRIOR TO EARLY AFTERNOON AND INTOREMAINING PARTS OF THE REGION INTO THE AFTERNOON. THUNDERSTORMSSHOULD WANE INTO THE EVENING AFTER LOSS OF DAYTIME HEATING.STRONG THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS WILL BE POSSIBLE WITH THE STRONGERCONVECTION ALONG WITH BRIEF BUT LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL ANDDEADLY LIGHTNING. NO WIDESPREAD ORGANIZED HAZARDOUS WEATHERIS EXPECTED AT THIS TIME.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN: SUNDAY THROUGH FRIDAY...
HURRICANE GUSTAV IS EXPECTED TO MAKE LANDFALL ACROSS THE SOUTHERNLOUISIANA GULF COAST LATE MONDAY NIGHT INTO EARLY TUESDAY MORNING.FROM THERE...THE HURRICANE SHOULD WEAKEN TO A TROPICAL STORM AS ITNEARS THE LOWER END OF THE TOLEDO BEND RESERVOIR LATE TUESDAY INTOTHE PREDAWN HOURS WEDNESDAY MORNING.
THE STORM IS EXPECTED TO MAKEVERY SLOW PROGRESS EAST NORTHEASTWARD TOWARDS THE INTERSTATE 20 CORRIDOR OF EAST CENTRAL TEXAS BY EARLY THURSDAY MORNING AS ATROPICAL DEPRESSION. TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS SUSTAINED NEAR 40MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS WILL BE POSSIBLE ACROSS THE SOUTHERN HALF OFWEST CENTRAL LOUISIANA AND DEEP EAST TEXAS AS EARLY AS LATE TUESDAYAFTERNOON AND THROUGH THE NIGHT TUESDAY NIGHT INTO WEDNESDAYMORNING. THIS WILL LIKELY RESULT IN WIDESPREAD POWER OUTAGES...DOWNED TREES AND POWER LINES ACROSS PORTIONS OF NORTHWEST LOUISIANAAND THE SOUTHERN HALF OF NORTHEAST TEXAS. BEYOND THE WIND THREAT...ISOLATED TORNADOES WILL BE POSSIBLE ACROSS ALL OF NORTHWESTLOUISIANA...NORTHEAST TEXAS AS WELL AS PORTIONS OF SOUTHWESTARKANSAS BEGINNING LATE TUESDAY AND CONTINUING THROUGH THE DAYWEDNESDAY.
PERHAPS THE GREATEST THREAT WILL BE WIDESPREAD FLOODINGACROSS ALL OF THE FOUR STATE REGION. RAINFALL AMOUNTS WELL IN EXCESS OF 10 INCHES WILL BE POSSIBLE ACROSS PORTIONS OF NORTHWEST LOUISIANAAND NORTHEAST TEXAS WITH ISOLATED RAINFALL AMOUNTS AS HIGH AS 15 TO20 INCHES...CERTAINLY NOT OUT OF THE REALM OF POSSIBILITY WITH THISLANDFALLING HURRICANE EARLY INTO THE MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK.
