Bossier School Board needs to explain

KTBS has run a couple of stories (one of which we commented on) about School Board attorney Patrick Jackson. The questions about Jackson are his relationships with Air Repair and Cochran Construction. Air Repair and its owners, of course, were among those indicted for fraud a couple of weeks ago.
Cochran Construction has been sued by the school board over roofing problems at Haughton Middle School.
Jackson was present during a closed-door meeting last March where school system administrators gave Air Repair a $1 million, no-bid contract to do mold remediation and repairs at the Haughton school.
Jackson said he didn't recommend hiring Air Repair but acknowledged it looks bad because he was present while one of his clients -- the School Board -- was deciding whether to hire another client -- Air Repair -- to fix something built by another client -- Cochran Construction.
Jackson said nothing improper was done.
"Sometimes when grenades go off, innocent people get shrapnel," he said. "And I think that's what's happened here."
It appears that this goes beyond Jackson’s representation of Cochran and Air Repair. Jackson is also a partner with Carl Cochran in CC&J Development Co LLC.

How could the School Board allow someone who was so conflicted to represent them in matters regarding construction?
There are still a lot more questions than answers, and the School Board needs to come clean now.

  3. "convicted murderers walking the schools and ya'll are worried about mold!"

If you have any information about a convicted murderer 'walking the schools' I wish you would email me the information.
Until then, I'll continue to concentrate on the FRAUD to which two people have already pled GUILTY and to the lackadaisical practices on the part of school officials who apparently had NO oversight whatsoever.

  4. From the KTBS-TV web site:

Wilson in 1995 was sentenced to 15 years in prison for his involvement in the murder of a man who was followed from a Bossier City casino after winning money. The victim was robbed and killed on Interstate 49 in DeSoto Parish after one of his tires was shot out.

Wilson, who implicated two companions in the murder, pleaded guilty to being an accessory to murder and armed robbery, court records show. He was later released on parole. The other two men are serving life sentences.

Lee served prison in Louisiana for a burglary conviction in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana Department of Corrections records show. They said he was sentenced as a repeat offender because of prior arrests in Texas.

  5. Jim,

While you are on the Secretary of State Corporations database, search
"calliope court." It's up on Viking Dr and is a NON PROFIT corp.

  6. Interesting, Calliope Court does connect Cochran and Jackson in another company, as you said, a nonprofit.
    What is it?

  7. It's an office development on Viking Dr built by Cochran. Jackson has an office there. They are selling the 1100 ft offices like condos, not leasing or renting. CC&J built them and I suppose Calliope Ct is the equivalent of a homeowners assoc.

  8. Thanks. KTBS said that Jackson advised the school board that he had represented Cochran. This was 5 days after he had recommended that the Board not sue Cochran.
I wonder if he advised the school board that he was a business partner of Cochran as well?
And Jackson still claims no conflict?

  9. Yes, and the superintendent held that letter from the board members for 11 months. Funny thing though, when I suggested he ran the school board, he informed me that he was an employee of the board. Yea right. The main conflict with Jackson is that he represented the owners of Air-Repair, knew their legal history and said a word to the BPSB that they were violating state law by contracting with two violent felons. How's that for representation of the BPSB?

  14. Hello. My wife and I bought our house about 6 months ago. It was a foreclosure and we were able to get a great deal on it. We also took advantage of the 8K tax credit so that definitely helped. We did an extensive remodeling job and now I want to refinance to cut the term to a 20 or 15 year loan. Does anyone know any good sites for mortgage information? Thanks!

    Mike
