Relationships and the Bossier Marshal's race

Lynn Austin sent out a flyer to make sure that everyone understands that Sammy Wyatt isn't related to Johnny Wyatt.
Okay, we understood that when Sammy noted that in his announcement, and when he made sure that the Bossier Press Tribune noted that in their article.
He also noted in My Bossier that "Although Johnny Wyatt and I are not related I have always thought of him as family. He was a friend, a confidant, and a mentor."
Austin is apparently afraid that the voters of Bossier City can't take a hint.  If he is concerned about relationships, he would be advised to distance himself from his recent relationship as Mayor Lo Walker's right hand man.  I realize that the powers that be in Bossier City government don't get it, but a large number of people in Bossier City became very disenchanted with city government during the budget crisis in December of 2009, and most of that was aimed at Lo Walker.
Here's the flyer.
If Sam Wyatt had tried to capitalize on his last name, perhaps this would be justified.  He hasn't and he won't.
He is related to this guy, however.  Gene Wyatt was a country singer and was Sammy's uncle.  If you like good old country music, give it a listen. Maybe the boys are afraid that Sam's about to steal the flowers from their garden.

  1. Good Luck Sam -

Don't let the Good Ole Boys beat you down

Hate to see Sammy's negative mail sent aimed at Lynn Austin - probably be about him cutting jobs and the salaries and retirement he had over the years

  2. I doubt that he would stoop to that level. But the city hall machine - you bet. It will get worse.

  3. I was weighing between Lynn Austin and Sammy Wyatt, leaning Austin until I got the flyer in the mail. I remember Sammy saying he wasn't related to Johnny Wyatt during his announcement. Because of the flyer, my vote is going to Sammy.

  4. This is funny, I am supposed to take the recommendation from a guy who does sleazy real estate deals in Bossier.

  5. Sleazy realestate deal? what are you talking about? who are you talking about?

This isnt that hunting trip deal that everyone was talking about on the Duke board was it?

    Gosh, this place is crazzzzzzyyyyyyyyyyyy.......

  6. That is the most asenine thing I have ever read.

  7. Jeff Wyatt is involved in real estate development, as I understand, I have never heard of any 'sleazy' dealings.
It's a political race, it will come down to the person who can best get out their message.
The people are listening and I see a pretty high level of interest in this race.

  8. Thats strange that someone mentions Jeffs sleezy deals on here because I heard the same thing. Without saying names of the property owners, the land in question is about mid way between Bossier and Benton off of Benton Rd.

  9. It's easy to say that someone is 'sleazy' without giving any facts. Jeff Wyatt is not a candidate and he has the right to support whomever he chooses. If you want to fill in some details, go ahead, but you don't gain anything by calling someone sleazy.

  10. Jim,

I may have been called a miserable person with hair on his teeth, but at least I wasn't called sleazy.

  11. jeff has the right to endorse anyone he wants, my only point is i don't see where this guy has any credibility or credentials to have any weight to add validity to sammy's run for office. it doesn't mean sammy isn't a good candidate, but when someone shady recommends anyone or anything to me I certainly take a more critical view of their perspective.

  12. Jeff is endorsing Lynn Austin, not Sam Wyatt.

  13. I think the flyer was a chicken-s&%$
move. Makes Austin look desperate. Wyatt has always made it clear that he was not related to Johnny Wyatt, but to spend a boat load of money to mail out flyers when the fact has already been printed is stupid.

  14. I know with this flyer Austin lost my vote

  15. Didn't Sammy come out in Dec last year saying he wasn't running and he was endorsing Lynn Austin? What made him decide to run?

  16. Look to me like Austin wants to say so bad, "Johnny Wyatt wanted me to be Marshal"!, he just comes across as pompos.

    Nobody can speak for Wyatt.

  17. "What made him decide to run?"

Maybe he gained some support from some places he didn't expect it.

  18. Sam has a lot of supporters, at the police department, sheriffs department and marshals office. He changed his mind about running and we are all glad he did. Sam is a good man and is well qualified.

The flyer was a joke, Austin should be ashamed

  19. The facts are no matter how many times Sammy specified he was not a relative of Johnny Wyatt, there were still a lot of people under the assumption he was. That's the reason for the flyer.

As for "sleazy deals", talk to anyone who has ever been in business with Carl Richard. There is a reason everything he has ever done has failed.

  20. Anon 3:03. Your candidate had to bash Sam, now you guys gotta be fair so lets bash Richard.

Funny, when you don't have anything positive to say about your candidate, you gotta tear down the other candidates.

Good luck with that campaign style - hope it works for your candidate - NOT

  21. Well we have talked about a lot of things but I think Sammy Wyatt is a great guy. I have been around him many times and at events he always seems to have great personality. Lynn I've had the opportunity to work with in the past also is a great guy seems to be well rounded and good ethics. But Carl is bad news I know first hand all about Carl jr. From bossier high to auto auction to parties I've been around him a lot in the past and all the girlfriends his been through how about the girl at dillards or the panama city trip well I can list a lot. But what has Carl ever managed that did not go out of business. He keeps going broke and he'll do the same thing again but who cares.

Carl has been in law enforcement for 20 years or so, no? Your experiences seem to be from high school 25 or so years ago, right?

It seems you don't have anything solid this side of Ronald Reagan to legitimately criticize Richard.

  26. tell us more you have our undivided attetion.the citizens of bossier need to know if this is true please come forward

  27. Well I dont think Carls indiscretions dont belong here. I grew up in Shreveport but I work and live in Bossier. I find it very important to choose the right person for the Marshal I started having dealings with the city during Katrina. While working with the city Lynn Austin, Police, Fire and many churches worked together like a machine. I saw many acts that were above the call of duty. If I remember correctly Lynn Austin and Johnny were in charge. After Katrina I went to Lynn and told him anything we cound ever do to help him or the city we are there. Thank you Lynn for being there and serving us as police chief, our children and mayors office. Also surely Carl Richard is not working and campaining at the same time.

  30. Hey Sammy, looks like you are outta the woods with that Relationship Mail Out and now they are on to smearing Carl.

One thing that is clear from all these blogs - Sam and Carl are not slinging mud at all. So, one of them will get my vote and all my friends and family.

Keep up the smear campaign - its working
