  1. Its friday, so Jim should we start predictions here?

    Austin 34%
    Wyatt 30%

To close to call, what say you?

  2. It is hard to call, you never know what the voters will do.
I'd like to see more predictions.

  3. I think Austin will win but I don't want him to. Wyatt second, Richard third. I believe Wyatt is the best choice.

  4. Hmm - I'm taking a deeper look at the ICAC Task Force and looking at the interviews again for Sammy and Carl.

A couple of things were brought to my attention this morning.

  6. So what I have read is it is okay to protect a child form a preditor but not an elderly person. It was stated by Sammy Wyatt that we have law inforcement for that. We also have law informent to protect children but they but as you seen in the past they also cannot be everywhere. I believe welfare of elderly people are as important as any.

  7. to 4;16 YOU ARE RIGHT BEING A SENIOR MYSELF SOME SENIORS NEED PROTECTION AND WE ARE FORTUNATE TO HAVETWO SHERIFFS ANTHE POLICE CHIEFS WHO SUPPLY THIS SERVICE IN CONJUCTION WITH THE SENOIR CITIZEN ORGANIZATION IN AN EXTREMELY CREDITABLE MANNOR. NOT TRUE WITH THE PREDITOR TASK FORCE AS THEY ARE THE ONLY ONES MONITERING.

  8. Protecting the elderly is very important as Wyatt has always stated. As he also stated, the Crimes Against Persons units already investigate thoses cases and the Louisiana Attorney General's Office has a specialized unit which does exactly that! As he, and Lynn Austin have stated, No local law enforcement agency offeres the services of the ICAC Task Force. Good try and attempting to twist things around but it won't work!

  9. I PROTECTED MY CHILDREN WHEN THEY WERE GROWING UP (THEY ARE IN THEIR EARLY 20'S NOW). I WOULD HATE TO KNOW I HAD TO RELY ON A PART TIME TASK FORCE TO PROTECT THEM.

  10. the task force is another tool for law enforcement to use there is a couple hundred or more dedicated police and deputy sheriffs to handle the rest.,

  11. I am voting for Lynn, but if Sammy wins I could live with that, I don't think Carl fits the Bossier image.

    Hey Jim
I was reading in "conservative drink" where the bcmo has made 200 arrests but only 59 convictions. Uh, I'm not a smart man but, uh, that is only a little more than 25%. Does anyone else see the problem with this? That is way too low.

  13. Good question. That's a number that Rick Ware threw out. Those are just the ones they are aware of, he also said that they had no mechanism to track convictions. I have a feeling that the actual number may be higher. We're going to try to find out.

  14. Jim,
There could be several reasons for those numbers. The could be alot of cases still pending. The prosecution of these cases always takes longer than the initial investigation and arrest.

  15. I can tell you how long it takes. 1 Month to build the case. 1 to 2 months to get subpoena/court order returns from the isp. Then the search warrant is served, preview is done by someone on the taskforce, person is arrested on evidence collected there. You spend the next 3 or more months going to court for motions to suppress and every other motion that can be made to find a technicality. Then its refixed and then they plead. Normally at least 6 to 9 months to actually get a conviction on each case. This normally slips through without the officer knowing because it drags on so long. He's another 10 case in by then. Realistically there are at least 8 cases a month initiated by the task force. Oh yeah, the forensic exam is performed by the Bossier City Marshals office/task force being as they have 3 of only about 7 people in the entire state certified to do so. The feds have a lab but you can't preview if you start the case federally so you walk out and leave the pedo to possibly continue abuse. Those pictures sometimes turn out to be children inside the home/family. Thats why the task force is so important. Without them you leave the pedo's behind until the forensic exam is completed 6 months later.

  16. I wrote the previous post but left something out. I don't particularly care who gets Marshal as long as they understand the importance of it. The next step is obviously convincing the public of that. I was almost in shock the first time i read this blog and seen the number of comments not really supporting the task force. Those that feel that way have never looked into the face of a 4 year old child who doesn't have to be abused tonight because the cops showed up and locked uncle john up for looking at child porn and find that some of those pictures are of her. Those things go hand in hand.

  17. The voters are well informed and cannot be bought, they Love Bossier and they watch FOX. What gets my attention Rex is 18+ years of training and education for this very department, any Candidate other than Carl will need training and a learning process before they can even think of running the the dept in an efficient manner! Not a opinion just,FACTS FACTS FACTS!!!

  18. I personally think Carl Wayne is greatly qualified to work in the Shreveport Marshal's office but NOT the Bossier City Marshal's office. Anyone that works with any part of the NW La. court system knows the difference between the two. So many working in the system can tell you that most court papers sent to S'port to be served are either returned "unserved" or returned way past the hearing date. They hardly ever answer the phone at the S'port office and when they do you are placed on hold for up to thirty minutes IF they ever come back at all. It is not that way in Bossier. Service in every way is their motto. So if you want your Bossier marshal's office to become the Sport marshal's offce, then go ahead and vote for Carl. Otherwise, either of the other two will be a fine replacement for Johnny Wyatt. Also, I don't think you will find anyone in BC Marshal's office with an arrest record. You cannot say that about Sport.

  19. I think Rex got the instructions wrong. He must have thought he was supposed to pick the person who will finish last.
