FBI Investigation

The Inquisitor is reporting that the FBI is investigating matters affecting Bossier-Webster District Attorney Schuyler Marvin’s office.
I blogged earlier about  a series of articles published in the Inquistor regarding the DA’s office.
According to Inquisitor sources, FBI agent Chris Plant is heading the investigation.
Among allegations the Inquisitor has reported on in recent weeks are instances of non-prosecution of DWI cases for relatives of employees of the DA’s office.
I will put up more about this by the first of the week. Meanwhile, better grab a copy of the paper at your local store.

  1. If this is true I hope the FBI doesn't stop just at the D.A.'S office. The investigation needs to include the corruption that is rampant in Bossier Parish and Bossier City. A maggot infested trash can is cleaner than the Bossier Parish and Bossier City political machine.

  2. Well all those people who said if you got anything then call the FBI. I say be careful what you wish for. I bet there are going to be a lot of nervous people. The rats will start to jump off the ship. Watch

  6. I don't know about what goes on in Benton, but it is way past time that the FBI should be digging into the rat's nest of corruption at Minden. We all saw the video of the drunk ADA who got the officers fired for arresting him. And he is back in the DA's office. And then the Webster sheriff is just completely blatant in being an old fashioned political boss, taking over all of the local police departments to consolidate his power in the parish. A while back one Webster deputy arrested another for DWI, and I suspect it will be the one trying to enforce the law rather than the one endangering the public who will lose his job.

  8. If the D.A.'s office is innocent of wrong-doing, then any accusation Lawler makes is just cheap journalism, not extortion. If there is nothing to expose, then there is no threat, therefore, again, there is no extortion. Either the FBI is investigating the D.A.'s office or it's not; we will all find out soon enough.

    1. I love that people are speaking out. Not afraid to expose corruption. It is scary. I am affected personally by it, corruption, I mean. I have now been given a cause in which to speak out. And I will, in due time. I fear for my family members safety and well being when dealing with the above mentioned "office."

  9. We all know Danny like to use his paper for personal reasons. The reason he is able to scare government officials into giving him business is they don't want there wrongdoing printed in the paper. Do things right and you don't have to worry about him. Even if he does a negative article nothing happens because your not doing anything wrong. Danny is no saint but without him and his newspaper none of this would be covered by the other news organizations.

  11. Did it ever occur to you that people use our auction company because we do an awesome job at what we do? Our staff, which consists of great auctioneers, clerks, ring people, cashiers, etc. take great pride in the fact that we provide leading edge technology that no other auction company in this area provides. The government agencies that use us know that their auctions will be conducted with integrity and professionalism that you simply can't find anywhere else. As a result, we are able to net more revenue for the taxpayers, government agencies, and consignors who entrust us to conduct their auctions. I challenge you to come out and see our operation and check out our team at work. Our state of the art, air conditioned operation is like no other operation around here and our internet bidding allows bidders to place bids from all over the world, netting our clients more money for their items. That's why people use our auction company. Government officials who use our auction services use us because they are good stewards of the taxpayers' money and because they know that our auctions are conducted with integrity. Our clients don't have to worry about being in the paper in a negative way because they have nothing to hide. Sure, there will be times when we have to report something that is not positive about their agencies, but our clients understand that and they expect that we will print the truth.

  12. Since I won't be around most of the afternoon, and since someone refuses to play by the rules, I am going to moderate comments for the next day or so. If the problem continues then, I will just block that person's URL from the blog. Thanks.

  13. sounds to me, we hit a nerve. the way you try to intimidate through your tabloid is disgraceful. If we did not live in Louisiana, I would think we were in Cuba. How in the hell can you claim that you have character and integrity when you put half truths and leave out other information that would competely change others assesment of the situation. Example, you spoke in one of your tirades that the DA had given special treatment to C.R. Pilkinton in a murder trial. What you did not mention was that the first trial ended in a mistrial, sorry you forgot to mention that. You know that most other DA's would not even have retried Mr. Pilkinton In another tirade , you mentioned that a former law officer over heard Buddy Mondello on the phone with Larry Thompson during the bank hist. What you did not mention the person you got your information from was a former employee who was fired by the DA office and vowed revenge. One more bit of evidence, you claim that it is illegal to sell the seized cars at a private auction. You are competely WRONG! it is perfectly legal, look it up. My point is Mr. Lawler, has less creditability than Former Senator and Presidential canidate JOHN EDWARDS. Please try to retain what little creditability you have left. Just tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Rember the FBI may be watching you also.

  14. Danny,
Think back to the stories you did regarding your brother and your dad's businesses and your own admission to stories your purposely ignored then you should understand the negative comments. Nobody has said anything negative regarding your auction. Due to your articles in the past, people are questioning your integrity for one and your motives as well.

  15. I wonder if Lawler's auction company does business with the BPSO and if so when did this relationship begin?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Reading these posts, particularly as it relates to the DA's office on the auction business he was sending to Lawler, and the subsequent blasts in the Inquisitor by Lawler designed to be embarrassing, socially damaging, and incriminating, even if true, sounds pretty close to some form of blackmail. I'm not an attorney, and perhaps I am incorrect on how the courts would interpret the law on blackmail or extortion.

But I do know Lawler certainly has a pattern and practice well known to the public of disseminating negative information about criminal offenses of high profile politicians and public figures. Lawler himself confessed in an earlier post that he had received negative information on marvin in the past but since he had a business relationship with marvin conveniently overlooked it. A very similar situation occured with Larry Deen a few years ago.

The way I understand blackmail is when an offender threatens to reveal information about a victim or his family members that is potentially embarrassing, socially damaging, or incriminating unless a demand for money, property, or services is met. Even if the information is true or actually incriminating, you can still be charged with blackmail if you threaten to reveal it unless the victim meets your demand.

It goes unsaid that a newspaper article in the Inquisitor fits all the criteria. And I think Lawler admits had he not lost the auction business, there would have never been any information about Marvin printed. So I guess the question becomes did Lawler "threaten" Marvin in any way? At minimum, there was an implied threat given lawlers reputation, however it seems Marvin might have not anticipated the actions of Lawler beforehand.

I'm glad the information is surfacing, however it brings to light the way in which this information is coming to fruition as another form of abuse of power, for lack of a better term.

  18. 12:31 - so you are saying that the story about the FBI investigating the DA's office is not true?

    ReplyDelete
  19. WELL PUT JUNE 10 12.31PM. LAWLER IS NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN PREDICT A INVESTIGATION COMING..MAYBE IF MARVIN DID NOT HAVE CERTAIN RULES TO FOLLOW IN THE COURT ROOM AND COULD FREELANCE ON HALF TRUTHS AND HEARSAY LIKE LAWLER, HE COULD GET MORE CONVICTIONS.AND WHAT HAPPENED TO THE RESULTS OF THE FBI REPORTS OF THOMPSON ON THE PHONE THAT WOULD BE IN THREE WEEKS?? AND I NEVER SAW A APOLOGY AS HE PROMISED,AND I AM SHOCKED BY A MAN OF SUCH INTEGRITY NOT TO KEEP HIS WORD. REALLY!

  20. 3:40 - I see nothing on here but attack the messenger. How about the message, is the FBI investigating the DA or not?

  21. Let me state for the record, one more time. We do not want Marvin's auction business. He needs to take it somewhere else, but it he needs to sell the drug seizure vehicles at a public auction, like the law states it should be sold, at a public sale or auction conducted by a licensed auctioneer. Title 9 defines an "auction" as a "public sale" so yes, the vehicles were not sold properly. He made a mistake, in my opinion. I also believe he doesn't need to be paying storage fees for storing vehicles on one of his employee's property, period.

Kartman, we've been doing business with BPSO far before Marvin got elected, if that answers your question. I'm almost certain that BPSO has done business with another auction company as well. For that matter, Marvin has done business with an auctioneer in Webster Parish as well, and as far as I know, he met the guidelines of selling the cars at a public auction when he did.

As far as the FBI reports on Thompson's phone calls, we have not received a response yet from the FBI after submitting the Freedom of Information Request. I am in hopes that will either prove one way or another what the truth is in that matter. (Whether Mondello was on the phone with Thompson on the day of the chase.) But you have to remember, even if the records reveal that Mondello was on the phone with him that day, it doesn't necessarily mean that Mondello had anything to do with the robbery or the chase, etc. Thompson gave us a recorded interview detailing the fact that Mondello and Thompson were in business together on the date of the robbery and were buying and selling cars together. As I've stated before, whatever the FBI phone records reveal, we will let our readers know, either way. We just don't have that information to report yet. I need to call the FBI and inquire about that tomorrow.

  22. jim to answer your question of the fbi investigation, i would think only the fbi would know that, but apparently they clear everything thru lawler. but there is no question were you stand, based on your comments.

  24. But were cars sold by a "licensed auctioneer?". Isn't that the rub? If the same thing then why have it defined both ways? I don't think there is any accusation that cars were sold to someone's kin folks or friends in some back room but were rather sold at a licensed auction where the cars were sold to the highest bidder to car dealers other than through Lawler. . This is a crime? I'm sure the FBI has better things to do.

  25. where did the word or come from?? ive never heard lawler quote that before. it should be easy to clear up by getting the other auction to show their legal paper work. surely they thought to get a license before they opened. u think???

  26. "but there is no question were you stand, based on your comments."
All I'm saying is that we have nothing but attacks on Danny Lawler.
Anyone is welcome to email me at mybossier@gmail.com and inform me that there is not an investigation and I will be happy to publish that. Of course, you will have to identify yourself so I can use you as a source. If there is no investigation, I don't know why the DA's office would hesitate to say so. And no, Anonymous on My Bossier saying that Danny Lawler is a bum isn't the same thing.
Hope everyone has a great week!

  27. Jim, I use to think your were objective, I was WRONG! I have responded numerous times and you refuse to print the e-mail. There were no personel attacks, no accuations. You just don't like the truth about your buddy, Lawer. You should change the name of your site to, the truth as Jim and Lawler see it, sorry no other post allowed, you know we are in tdhe brotherhood together.

  29. I hear the CIA is looking into whether Buddy Mondello was abducted by exterrestrial aliens. I wonder if the DA's office will verify that there is no investigation on this either?

  30. I know how to save everybody time and money, instead of having auction companies sell the seizure vehicles, sell them on the courthouse steps just like a sheriffs sale and do away with all commissions. Have someone who is already on the state payroll do it and make all goverment agencies do the same.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Good idea. They do it for other land and property. They would find a way to get a cut of it though.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Selling the cars at the courthouse used to be the way it was done but then it was discovered that more money came from selling the cars at auction houses because more people show up than at the courthouse. If you get more money at the auction house in public sales (Danny Lawler) than at the courthouse or at a private sale (Keith Hightower), the question is WHY? Are there kickbacks? Favors? I was told that Keith Hightower put a comment on Mike Nerren's facebook page telling Nerren he was behind him and to let him know what he could do. I don't do facebook so I couldn't confirm it. Auction the cars off where they get the most money. That should be the bottom line.

  33. What is the law on department's seizing vehicles and then being able to drive them for official business instead of selling them? I've got a DEA agent that lives in my neighborhood who drives a jaguar sports car as his work vehicle. How is this regulated and how do local law enforcement get to keep vehicles instead of putting them up for auction?

    ReplyDelete
  34. ^^^^^

Privilege. The war on drugs booty.

    ReplyDelete
  35. To answer the question about the DEA Agent. Federal laws are different than state. Federal laws allows the vehicle to be put back in service. This helps with the Goverment not having to purchase new vehicles. I'm sure the DEA agent really appreciates you identifying DEA with this vehicle. Good job there wise one!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. 2:20, The DEA is doing a mighty fine job on this war on drugs. How long has this war been going, now 50 years?

I am impressed. Just may be some strategies need to be changed.

Fiscally and just plain common sense speaking of course.

  39. Jim we were speaking of Lawler on the D A about dwi,s and someone stated the attorney who writes the articles in his paper has had several dwi,s and is on probation from the bar for 5yrs? They stated he came to the door of his house to greet police after a wreck naked? If this is not fact delete my comments, but if this has truth to it would you print the facts as you know them?
