Two Caddo ADA's resign

Looks like a political staredown in Caddo Parish between Sheriff Steve Prator and DA Charles Rex Scott ended today when Scott blinked.
Top prosecutors Hugo Holland and Lea Hall have apparently resigned in lieu of being fired over the acquisition of surplus weapons.
Both were accused of not being truthful on an application for the weapons, an application which Scott himself signed.
Wonder where two seasoned prosecutors could find a job in the area?
Hey Schuyler . . . .

  1. I tried to tell everyone about Hugo. Really weird guy. I'm interested to what Shane McWilliams does now.

  2. interesting. So, are the weapons going to be returned?

  3. Hugo Holland holds a law enforcement commission with the Bossier City Police Department. I wonder if Patrick is going to put him on full time

  4. Hugo may be a little weird but the guy is one hell of ADA. Keep in mind the guy volunteers countless hours to Bossier City as a reserve officer. If Bossier Parish is lucky enough to get Hugo we should count ourselves lucky. I know how people feel about our DA but Marvin would be making a good move if he could get Hugo.

  5. 11:18,
Hugo's knowledge of law is not in question. It's his integrity which is now questionable. No, we would not be lucky to have him. But you are correct, he would be an improvement over here though.

  6. Yes, an ADA who can't be trusted to write the truth on paperwork does seem to be a big improvement on the caliber of people we have over here in Webster Parish.

  7. I wish there were an article on here about the couple who went to court today at a "special" setting in Judge John Robinson's courtroom who were arrested for the rape of a mentally retarded woman and had their charges downgraded from agg rape to conspiracy to committ misdemanor carnal knowledge of a juvenile and criminal tresspass. Glenda Young, who was the caretaker of the handicapped woman, conspired with her "husband", Marvin Young, to allow him to rape the woman while she was in her care. (Not to mention that Marvin Young had recently paroled out of jail before he committed this crime) The Bossier D.A.'s office downgraded the charges of Glenda Young to 4 counts of conspiracy to committ misdemeanor carnal knowledge of a juvenile and Judge Robinson sentenced her to the time that she had served in jail with the intent to allow her to leave jail today. She is being detained for I.C.E though, thank goodness, because I would hate for her to have the opportunity to do this again to another mentally retarded person since there is no requirement for her to register as a sex offender for misdemeanor carnal knowledge. Marvin Young, who actually perpetrated the rape of the woman was allowed to plead to 4 counts of criminal tresspass and also sentenced to the time he has served in jail, which would have allowed him to leave jail today, but he is being held on a parole violation at this point until the parole board makes a decision to release him or not. If Schuyler Marvin's office would have had their way, this couple would have been free today to head on out and hit the next victim, and Judge Robinson allowed it to happen. These two have been in jail for well over a year, so if there were no case, why would they have sat in jail that long before the D.A. offered them this little sweetheart of a deal? This is the stuff that happens all the time in Bossier Parish that doesn't hit the news or The Inquisitor front page that people NEED to know about. Marvin is as crooked as dog's hind leg, and anyone with any sense that doesn't have their head buried in the sand can see it! Our judges just sit back and allow these things to happen whenever the D.A. proposes them. Bossier parish citizens would be sickened to see half of the things that happen in those courtrooms while our D.A. and Judges sit back and let it happen until one of these backdoor deals jumps up and bites them in the butt like the Alan Haltom deal did when they had kept letting him out and granting bond reductions until he shot his wife at First Baptist Bossier. How funny that Judge Bolin left office so soon after that happened since he was the one that signed off on letting him out of jail. That is just one example, and there are NUMEROUS others. How bout Joshua Hastings, who was arrested last night for nearly beating a 4 year old to death? He has has been let off of so many drug charges over the last few years that it would make your head spin, but here we are, a 4 year old clinging to life while the 26th JDC representatives relax at the house. If he had received some serious penalties for all his crimes previously, maybe this wouldn't have happened. The list goes on and on, but I just wanted to mention that in hopes that Jim may do a post about some of those things that happen up there to enlighten the rest of the readers of this blog.

  8. I am putting up a post about Joshua Hastings later this evening. I will definitely look into Marvin Young.

  9. Hugo Holland is the best state prosecutor in the state. Bar none. His record speaks for itself. He is also a lawyer of unquestionable character and ethics. His resignation, for whatever reason, is a tremendous loss to Judge Charles Scott, who is also a fine man and a great public servant. I have a feeling Hugo won't be without a job very long. Prosecutors with his skill, knowledge and wealth of experience are rare indeed.

  10. I wish there was an article on here about all the drunk drivers Whit Graves has (for 10+ years) has and continues to represent!!! Jim, please follow up on that. Has he done anything else?

  11. It's abuse of power. The District Attorneys Office did not need any automatic weapons much less that many. The tax payers end up paying for wanna be secret service agents. Please. I'm sure there is more to the story but this all we will hear. Just as people do good they can be bad as well. Some people know how to show good face and know how to show only what they want you to see. They did wrong! Shut up and pay the price.

  12. @9:59: how about his 11 years as a State Trooper; 10+ years as prosecutor for Bossier and Webster Parishes, not for political purposes, prosecuting major felonies, including but not limited to, murder, rape, armed robbery and drugs; and countless time contributed to Shriners. If you need more info go to his webpage or ask people that know him, because quite frankly I don't feel like typing for the next several hours.

  15. August1 at 9:59, I know former Bossier City Marshal Johnny Wyatt was a well loved man, yet there was still the coverup and rush to hush hush the story of his death. Let the truth be told.

Hope not offend but there is guilt on both sides of controversy.

  19. I may be wrong, but insnt it a crime to inaccurately fill out a weapons application? Seems like the Feds may be looking into this and haven't released any findings yet. And, hasn't BCPD fired employees for false reporting? I remember that happening to on officer who was accused of false reporting. He got his job back but is working a menial assignment. He was a very dedicated officer who tried to do the right thing, and was crucified because it was a high profile suspect. False reporting can ruin an officers ability to testify in court as a credible witness. Anybody? How has that turned out for that officer?

  20. Why was the news link about the truth of the old City Marshall removed?

  21. Because this blog post isn't about Johnny Wyatt. Why do you feel a need to throw stones at his grave?

  22. There is a lot of talk of pseudo important people and their DWI's. If that man we are talking about killed a car full of kids, would we not still be talking about it. Just because that man had a lot of friends and support, bottom line that hypocrite was driving very fast and drunk.

Regular folk, non LEO, when killing someone while Driving While Intoxicated are persecuted. Why not that Dude.

    The frigging truth!!

    It hurts doesn't it,Sir.

  23. And every one who posts here is guilty of throwing stones. Seems like the new normal, hence in the written words of a great song lyricist, Robert Hunter,

While the politicians are throwing stones
Singing ashes, ashes all fall down.
    Shipping powders back and forth
Singing "black goes south while white comes north"
And the whole world full of petty wars
Singing "I got mine and you got yours."
And the current fashions set the pace.
Lose your step, fall out of grace.

    Please interpret as you may....

  24. Has any new developments come to light in regards to the Caddo DA controversy? Shame that high profile people get off so easy. Seems that the powers that be are only waiting for a new scandal to happen. Then they will sneak the caught crooks back in and business as usual. Or appoint another crook who just hasn't made news yet. Good ole boys at their finest.

    1. It will only be a matter of a short time before he comes back to Bcpd. As soon as it appears to be old news. New issues arise, and the old snakes reappear. That's how the good ole boys have done it for years. It just shows that the city administrators don't really care what is best for the citizens. Only what they can do to pat each other on the back. It seems there is no longer any virtue in honor, or pride in doing the right thing. The rules are only enforced on those who don't succumb to agendas.

  25. Hence, cyclical stone throwing and ricochets.

Round and round and don't let the deal go down.

  26. Hugo got what he deserved and karma caught up with him. He ran the reserves, so it would fit his needs and requirements. Shitty leader!!!
