  1. Candidates, please rock the boat. Show us what you have. Get some originality on ya. No more same old same old.

    ReplyDelete
  2. You must be a candidate.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Your to get same old same old whether you like it or not. I've accepted it and you should too.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Thanks, you are a candidate. Your is spelled you're in the context of above said statement.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Same old, same old....? You sound like you go to all the town meetings and really stay up to date on what is going on in your community. WOW... such a civic minded person such as yourself must really be current on that "same old, same old".

    ReplyDelete
  6. "Talk about your plenty, talk about your ills,
One man gathers what another man spills." Garcia, Hunter, Lesh

    I might add.

    Yep, same old, same old.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I like same old, same old. Bossier is the envy of the State and the elected officials are part of the reason it is so. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Hey, we are better than Shreveport!

    ReplyDelete
  9. According to most posters on this blog Bossier is very broken. I think it could be a better.

    ReplyDelete
  10. We are the envious part of the state. When was the last time Gov. Jimdal was here? Oh yea just before CIC was built. He hasn't been back because he found out what idiots are running this city.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I drove around Bossier the other day and most of the city looks run down. Just what is do envious about it?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Bossier is not broke. These bloggers could not read a city budget if it hit them between the eyes. The general fund is maxed and that is based on taxes we pay. The other funds are flush but what idiot would spend one time money in the general fund. The only people crying broke are a small handfull of cry baby cops that want more. Go find it. Bossier property taxes that fund the general fund are at a thirty year low. Wanna pay more. Maybe the cops should push for a tax and let's see what the people really want.

    ReplyDelete
  13. "what idiot would spend one time money in the general fund" . . .
That would be Bobby Jindal, he does it every year.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Good point. I'll give you that one!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Jindal is pathetic. Wished I could have my vote for him back. No local politician wants to be near him. Just ask his last losing puppet, Jane Smith.

    ReplyDelete
  16. You say Jindal is an idiot? Well your local politicians are the ones who pushed to build the empty CIC building and voted to build another. They also are fully redpondible for the U.L. Coleman debacle in south Bossier. $40 million on a parking garage. The Benton Road overpass was built with local money but should have been built with state money instead. So I would watch who I call idiot. Your an idiot for voting for these local people too.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Fool, you don't know what you are talking and my vote will cancel yours. By the way are you running?

    ReplyDelete
  18. If any politician had the testicular fortitude to just stand up and say,"I made a mistake or two." , I would vote again for that politician.

There used to be forgiveness in this country. Now,,, nothing but finger pointing, blame, and fear tactics.

    ReplyDelete
  19. 1:06,
I can see why you support the idiots running the city. Monkey see monkey do.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Very nice statement 4:54. A point to ponder also. Some new candidates might be trying to relive some glory days. Not that this is a bad thing. But some one ready to shake a rattle, create a bump or three and awaken the sleepers might not be such a bad thing.

    ReplyDelete
  21. In my above post I meant to address 5:14 not 4:54.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I would just like to see improvements to our day to day lives. Why can't the street be repaired on Shed Road West of Benton Road where the railroad tracks USED to be. Why can't the traffic signals be set to where if you do the speed limit you would make all the lights on Benton Road, Airline Drive and Barksdale Blvd? The bridge on Benton Road is spilled milk and we should just leave it alone until someone wants to name it the Lo Walker Memorial Bridge. It should have been an underpass but that would have saved too much money. And we'll make up the money on rent of the Cyber Space building about the same rate we pay off the Superdome. Will we ever have a train station in Bossier? The large parking lot between Bossier High and the Horseshoe Casino belongs to Bossier City. Pretty soon Dallas will have a train station at DFW airport. How neat it would be to catch the train in Bossier and ride it to the airport. A lot cheaper than driving, paying for parking or buying a plane ticket to shreveport.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Jim...things are getting boring on here, need to shake it up some with some commentary on the DA marvin and the Randy Mathews fiasco!!! (from inquisitor)

    ReplyDelete
  24. Shed road west of Benton is not near Stonebridge or Oak Alley. Therefore there will be no improvements.

    ReplyDelete
  25. No underpass because the water table is at about 8 feet. A train station - really - it would take 6 hours with the mail stops and if it was a good thing the casinos would be pushing for it. Thank God you are not in office!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. YOU PUT TO MUCH STOCK IN THOSE BLOOD SUCKING CASINOS!! REMEMBER WHEN WE WERE MISLAED BY THE ELECTED OFFICIALS, THE PUSH WAS AS FOLLOWS, IF THE PEOPLE VOTED TO ALLOW CASINOS IN THE SHREVEPORT BOSSIER AREA, WE WOULD NEVER HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT TEACHERS PAY, FIRE FIGHTERS PAY, POLICE OFFICER PAY AND ROAD REPAIRS!! ALL LIES TO HURT THE LITTLE GUY. ALL WE GET FROM THE CASINOS IS SIGNS POSTED WITH A 1-800 NUMBER TO GET HELP FOR GAMBLING!!! I WOULD RATHER HAVE A TRAIN STATION!!!

  26. Glad to make you informed!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Anon 9:22AM This is the explanations the public has not been informed of. Thanks for posting your info. Thanks for explaining in a way we can understand.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Anon 9:22AM Thanks for the info on the water table being about 8 feet. I guess that is why Hamilton Road and Traffic Street underpasses are always under water and useless. The train taking 6 hours with mail stops--evidently you haven't been to Dallas on the train. It leaves Marshall at 7:50 and gets to Dallas at 11:30. Thats only 3hours 40minutes and it costs only $36. How many days of parking do you think you can get at DFW for $36? At 200 miles from Bossier City to DFW at 20 MPH, that's 10 gallons @ $3.52. WOW you saved 48cents driving yourself before parking fees!!!!! Glad you're not in office and making things up as you go.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Ever wonder why the underpass at Hamilton is always wet? Ever wonder what it cost to add rail service. 1 million for the train station - all public knowledge. Want to catch a train on Hamilton and leave you car in the rail yard? I have gone to listen in the public meetings and I don't want my officials spending that much money for a handful of people. If you can't afford the gas or parking - can you really afford the plane ticket? Why not take the bus and save even more?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Anon 3:34 PM The bus is what takes about 6 hours to get to Dallas because of all the stops between here and there. You switch between time tables to economics. The only thing consistent is you don't want a train station. One of the things big corporations look at and decide on locations is whether there is Amtrack service to the area. Stay on your agenda of not doing anything to attract business to the area and not let Bossier thrive so we will always be in the dark shadow of Shreveport. We fight every year to keep Barksdale and one day it is going to disappear. Then what? I don't want Bossier to wind up like so many other places where our children have to move away to find a job. If the FAA closes the tower at Shreveport airport you will have to drive to DFW or somewhere else to catch a commercial flight. We need to quit putting all our eggs in one basket. By the way, went under the tracks on Hamilton Road toay, NO WATER!

    ReplyDelete
  31. NO WATER!<<<
    ^^^^^^^^^^

No correlation, but for what it is worth, The Water Treatment Facility is doing very well and is a cohesive self contained
very well run and productive managed entity. One of the few departments that runs well in the city.

Accolades to that crew. Besides sales and property taxes the water plant works well with what crew has to work with..... Income to the city.

    ReplyDelete
  32. 4:47

Ever look at the ditch running along the tracks at Benton Road. You gonna go under that also?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Anon @ 6:45AM IT'S A DEAD ISSUE. IT COULD HAVE BEEN DONE BUT THE CITY WANTED TO SPEND THE MONEY FOR AN OVERPASS AND THEY DID. NO REASON TO DO AN UNDERPASS NOW BUT IT COULD HAVE BEEN DONE FOR A LOT LESS THAN WHAT THE BRIDGE COST. THE POINT IS THE LACK OF VISION TO INVESTIGATE ALL POSSIBILITIES AND UTILIZE THE ONE MOST COST EFFICIENT AND STILL GET THE JOB DONE.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I wish someone would run against Lo Walker. I have pointed out to him problems the BCPD and he has never answered any of my Letters or E-Mails. I guess it is better for him just to turn his head the other way.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Not another problems with bcpd post! Nobody cares!

    ReplyDelete
  36. The only thing that you are going to build on a state highway is what they want you to build. But I guess you did not know that because you just want to gripe. There is a ditch and a LOT of pipe in the ground there that CANNOT be rerouted unless you want to deprive everybody west of Benton Road of water and sewer.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I have watched these post with amazement. Some things right a lot wrong. The facts are in 1997 Aillet, Fenner was hired to work with the state to determine how to address the crossing and what would DOTD approve. The overpass design was the cheapest. An underpass required geometry that would force the road to go so deep that it would have to go under a ditch, pipes, utilities. That would require the purchase of every property from -porters to the edge of krogers on both sides of the road. So contrary to the griping posters belief, there was a process. Sorry you were not invited 11:17. Public meetings occurred for 1 year.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Thank you to the above poster for speaking with common sense.

    ReplyDelete
  39. You are welcome. I was on the committee.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Jim, your blog seems to attract some important folks. Is there a way that you can may be suggest a challenge to the candidates to organize a debate in their respective districts.

I get a thought that would separate the educated from the uneducated, the truly experienced from the truly uneducated, the using public safety fear tactics of true needs like infrastructure to the tactics of completing the needs of infrastructure.

Police and fire Depts. are doing pretty good with what they have to work with. Other short handed departments are not.

Debates would be of interest. I would like to see a challenge.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I meant to say the truly experienced from the truly in experienced in my above post. My bad. I am not that experienced or educated. Just a tad skeptical of the way things are going.

      Delete
  41. With all due respect, the police dept. is not doing well. I can assure you of that. Way understaffed and way underpaid. Those are just facts.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Stop the whining about the police dept! You got what you deserved!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Really? Why do you say that?

    ReplyDelete
  44. Because you have what the people want to pay for.

    ReplyDelete
  45. The people have what the city council is willing to pay for. A second class police force that's getting worse by the day. Veteran officers leaving for higher paying departments and rookies who were rejected by other departments. That's all we can hire is bottom of the barrel. Just askingbpeople to wake up thats all. The city is not a crime free as they would have you believe.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Why don't the police push for a tax since the general fund is maxed? What is so hard to understand about the fact is the general fund and a dedicated sales tax pays cops and they are maxed. Push for a tax!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Because its not maxed. In 2009 the tax was renewed and rolled forward. That gave and extra 3 to 4 million to the fund. We are working with less officers and firemen now than we were back then. The dispatchers are making more money than the officers. This is why veteran officers are constantly leaving. There is no need for a new tax. Just new councilman that don't hate us.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Pardon me, but the general fund is maxed and I will bet any amount you want to lay out with Jim as the holder of the funds.

That roll forward gave an additional $600,000. That does not come close to increased liabilities of pension, etc. Not your problem, certainly not mine. I don't where know you people get your figures, but it is a good thing you don't have to post your name. Master of mis-information.

What say you on the wager - $100, $1000 ? If this is as smart as you are, you need to leave before you get us in trouble.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Jim, If this wager gets off the ground I want in. It is obvious the 9:39pm does not know the difference between a mil of tax and a million dollars. What a genius!

    ReplyDelete
  50. I got my information from the mayor who you obviously love do much. I guess he got his information from the finance director who at one time said we were 6 million in the whole then a few months later said we had a 6 million dollar surplus. Don't tell me my information is bad when that was the information that was put out there. I personally don't think you really know what your talking about Genius.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Anon at 9:39 if you are truly a police officer, you are not presenting your case very well. Most departments in Bossier City are very short handed and under paid. The rest of the city's departments absorbed layoffs and firings and loss due to attrition and cushioned first responders actual allotted position in the cities projected budget. We are all working harder and taking on more daily duties.

The rest of the cities departments are truly taking on more responsibilities and still taking on the sucker punch a few years ago when the city leaders finally admitted they did not have more money than God.

First responders have continually received the annual increases that the city council changed the wording from annual raises to "merit raise"that all other departments have not received until this year(%2) when the FICA tax hike(%2) actually reduced the take home pay.

There is currently a so called hiring and wage freeze. There is promotions and hiring going on almost daily. I would like to challenge the city leaders to quit hiding behind their own financial mistakes and declare the financial crises is over.

No more resolutions needed to hire. Let the department heads do their job. Ridiculous.

Pay the meat and potatoes of the inner workings of the operations of Bossier( the best asset they have),,, employees a livable wage. Also certain PD personal(so they claim) keep posting crime rate is going up when actual reported crimes are going down.

Quit blackmailing the public under the guise of public safety.

Jim, you apparently carry a little weight with your blog. How about that blog about the other departments lower tier employees being under staffed and under paid. Maybe stirring the proverbial kettle at election time might reveal some truisms instead of the constant Bull****.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Also 9:39. Are you a non incumbent candidate for city council looking for first responder votes?

    ReplyDelete
  53. So tired of whiney police officers. I wish chief mcwilliams would shut them up.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Like you said. You get what you pay for.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Hey 1:13, Jim has the budget and posted a link to it but I doubt you could read it. What about the wager and Jim holds the money loudmouth? Smart person like you could pick up some cash, huh? Grow a set and take the bet.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Amazed again! All right 1:13, After reading this mess, I am going to take it slow so I don't loose you. You have to keep six donuts in a box called fund balance. This maintains your Bond rating so you can borrow money cheaply. People have eaten all the donuts in the other boxes and are headed for the last box. They are told if you start into this box we are headed into a donut deficient and we must not eat the last six. Surplus mandated - eating toward it deficits. Hope the donut thing helps.

    ReplyDelete
  57. As someone who knows, there will not be pay increases for at least several years without a tax and maybe not then. The only other possibility would be to farm out public service to the sheriff to get away from the police pension. Nif one cop is hired at 38 k a year, his pension cost another 11 k a year. More and more cities are just contracting with the sheriff. Happy golfing!

    ReplyDelete
  58. 9:28,
Thanks that does help. What your saying is that the mayor and your fellow city councilman have spent so much money on frivolous things that you had to cut city services to make up for it. Oh and great reference to donuts. Never that before. Your a credit to our city. No wonder we are a laughing stock.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Just find money and pay the "Good"quiet workers. Infrastructure folks.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Hey 9:28 I have a few questions for you since you seem to be a know it all. Who was responsible for the Walker Place fiasco? Why was Jimmy Hall allowed to run up a huge attorney bill for 4 years only to settle? An honest answer would be appreciated since we've yet to get one. Oh and please use your donut reference if you need too.

    ReplyDelete
  61. 4:42. Doing this on duty? New software is going to find out who is patrolling and who is surfing. Get another donut.

    ReplyDelete
  62. First of all I'm not an officer if that's what your trying to insinuate. Second I figured you would try and dodge the question. You don't seem to mind putting down officers. I guess one of them were right. You simply must hate them for some reason.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Anon at 9:33, Thanks. I truly believe you are someone "in the know". Thank you for your candor.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Wow Jim,

Have not been on for a while. Full moon, huh?

    D

    ReplyDelete
  65. 9:33 and 7:00 are the same person. Lol

    ReplyDelete
  66. Hey 10:23,

You are confusing regular donuts with the box of choclate covered ones and the box of the sprinkled covered ones. Glad to keep tutoring you!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Any chance of a dog park in Bossier City. Dog owner's votes would cancel out the BCPD Vote, the Reality Vote, The long term politician vote. Rover needs a running trail. Keep it in Bossier.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I was going to ask the same thing. My guess is Shreveport would have to do it first. Then Bossier will do it afterward and rant and rave about how progressive they are. I don't think it would be that expensive. We have plenty of unused space in our parks that could be fenced in. Don't hold your breathe 10:15. Our leaders are not as progressive as they claim to be.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Anon at 8:25 nope. Reminds of a joke about a piece of string walking into a bar. I do not remember the joke but I remember the punchline. Afraid knot.

    ReplyDelete
  70. The mayor has never answered any information that I have sent in regarding as to what I view as corruption within the BCPD. I would
like to see Chief McWilliams, Officer BJ Stewart, Lt. J Stewart, Det. Stockton, and Chief Worley take a polygraph, stating there was no wrong doing in the Funny Bone Case in 09. I guess it is easier to turn your head, than to deal with the real problem. Mayor I hope
one day you find out Corruption, only grows, it does not go away.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Police Officers do not take polygraphs, their to honest. Everyone knows the police don't lie.

      Delete
    2. Charles Wilder is a liar too, take a polygraph you idiot.

      Delete
  71. 12:03 I would presume a dog park is in our(Bossier City's ) future. Perhaps the ex-cop looking for the your not safe vote and the career politician could have a debate on this issue.

    ReplyDelete
  72. A dog park is a great idea. We have plenty of room at mike woods park that is not being used. You fence in an area for not a whole lot of money and add to it little by little every year. Same thing at the north bossier park. Mike Beam for city council.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Correction on March the 30th BJ Sanford not BJ Stewart is the one I would love to see take a polygraph test in the 2009 Funny Bone case. I thought the time Sanford was giving me answers on the case I was getting punked. Lo walker has never tried to look into the matter. There were a lot of people on this case of a person that tore two ligaments in my shoulder, and the great BCPD would not even question him, even though I told them where
he was working, this sure sounds like it could be corruption. Why did Sanford give me the wrong name of the person that assaulted me. And the person that made the statement he was not worried about the BCPD, well I hope they come to screw you one day, I meant help.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. please GOD get the crazy funny bone guy outta here. I heard about him, complains to the mayor all the time everybody laughs at him cause he is a joke. ain't that right wildr

      Delete
  74. Anon at 3:13, Just my observations. It would seem easy. I am sure the ex-cop looking for the you're not safe vote or the career politician would have to get permission from the city's attorney. Liabilities!!!!!

Heaven forbid if someone got bit by a dog on city property. Lawsuit.

This my uneducated guess why Shreveport and Bossier has no official dog parks. Lot's of lawsuits around.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. You need to be worried more about an honest Mayor than a dog Park. The lawsuits that could pile up against what could be corruption against the BCPD could far surpass a dog bite. Shreveport will get their dog park, this blog is called My Bossier.

      Delete
  75. 4:00,
There is a statute that covers municipalities from lawsuits from injuries that occur in city parks. I'm sure our city attorney doesn't know about it. But he should because on the positive for him if somebody sues he can call his buddies at the law firm and ride it out for 4 or 5 years then it'll be thrown out but his buddies get rich. We get a dog park and he and his buddies get rich. Win win

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Why don't we just wait and see what the owner of Margarita Ville thinks about a dog park. He, just like the people that owned the Funny Bone are the people that get what they want. Right Lo. Anyone can fake getting two torn ligaments in their shoulder, happens all the time, in Bossier City.

      Delete
    2. I hope for the people that for Lo Walker have to call him with a problem, and see the little or no help you get out of him. His check has to come in the mail, because there is no way he could have it handed to him.

      Delete
  76. So really, why should I vote for any one,,,really?

Gonna change, heard that sh*t too many times.

Got till poll close time tomorrow to convince me.
