Shreveport Media ignoring local twist on bizarre Landrieu phone bugging story

The Shreveport/Bossier media seems to be ignoring the local twist to the Mary Landrieu phone bugging story. One of the 4 men arrested is the son of William Flanagan, who is the acting U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Louisiana.
I checked The Times, which had the story sans Flanagan, KSLA & KTAL, which had nothing at all and KTBS, which had the story but didn't mention Flanagan.
Here is an excerpt from the Times-Picayune. Click on the link to read the entire story.
Alleging a plot to tamper with phones in Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu's office in the Hale Boggs Federal Building in downtown New Orleans, the FBI arrested four people Monday, including James O'Keefe, 25, a conservative filmmaker whose undercover videos at ACORN field offices severely damaged the advocacy group's credibility.
Also arrested were Joseph Basel, Stan Dai and Robert Flanagan, all 24. Flanagan is the son of William Flanagan, who is the acting U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Louisiana, the office confirmed. All four were charged with entering federal property under false pretenses with the intent of committing a felony.

  1. Perhaps O'keefe knows something we do not. Maybe he has heard rumors of a prostitution ring?
    (shame on me)

  4. Nyuk! Good ones, Alex & Jim!

I have not heard of this story until now. I need to edjumacate myself on this one.

I can't really wrap my head around WHY someone would bug Mary's office phones.

Hmmmm...At first glance, all I can think of is that someone wants tickets to the Super Bowl, and was trying to extort Mary for a pair...

    But that's not likely it.

Hmmmm...thanks for bringing this to our attention Jim.

  5. I heard he was also associated with the ACORN undercover busts??

  6. O'Keefe did the undercover thing on ACORN, pretending to be a pimp. What were these guys thinking, a charge of entering federal property with the intent to commit a felony will probably carry a mandatory sentence. And Fed sentences serve the full term.

  8. Well, they're on it now, but not heavily. Nationally the story has gone nuts. When I wrote the blog post, it was all over national news that Flanagan was involved but not a peep here.
