Benton man drunk in Legacy Elementary Parking Lot

A man was arrested late last night for driving while intoxicated and disturbing the peace drunk.
Brandon Kane Butler, 29, of the 4500 block of Lawndale in Benton, was found in the driver's seat of his parked truck in Legacy Elementary parking lot after 11:00 p.m. last night. Butler stated that he was driving and realized that he was too drunk to do so. He then pulled into the school parking lot and turned his parking lights on. He showed signs of intoxication and performed poorly on the standard field sobriety test.
Butler was arrested and transported to the Bossier Maximum Security Facility for booking. He refused the Intoxilyzer. Butler's bond is set at $1150.

  1. This is inane! Since when did speeding and DWI's become newsworthy! Nothing against the S/O, but this is basic law enforcement. I am happy they are taking enforcement action, but enough of this making a mountain out of a molehill. Spend your efforts on something of importance!

  2. Well I consider DWI and speeding over 100 mph to be very newsworthy! Especially DWI, as that is just outright disregard for human life. But this particular person realized that he was drunk, and stopped the vehicle, and the law is giving people an incentive to just keep driving drunk and try to make it home before the police notice them parked for safety.

  3. I think the fact that he was parked at an elementary school drew the attention.

  4. 1:18,
I agree with you but we are talking about BPSO. Be glad he didn't drop a name of one of the sheriff's contributors. If he had done that he would have been given a ride home and possibly an apology for bothering him.

  7. Why didn't he just lie, we all know that is what Larry Deen did when he got stopped. How long and how much it it going to take to get Larry Deen investigated?

  8. I sure BPSO does double duty at this school since Deen's sister is the Principal..........
