Did BCPD jump the gun in arresting Needham?

Read the entire story at KTBS website.
Simply put, the gun used in the Bill Norris killing was used in May in a robbery at Emerson's store in Haughton.  The suspect fired a bullet into the floor.  The crime lab says that it is the same gun used to in the triple murder at Bill Norris appliance.
Gerald Needham was arrested in April and charged with the crime.  Obviously, he was in jail at the time of the Emerson robbery.
DA Schuyler Marvin said he believes Needham is guilty based on the testimony of two eyewitnesses.
This is developing, we will keep it updated.

  1. Has there been a motive released?

  2. I think Schuyler said robbery, that some money was missing from Mr. Norris' pocket.

  3. I think that obviously more information developed and that they are working on getting it resolved. If the information exonerates Needham then they will have to release him. But at least they are working on it. It is easy to armchair quarterback, "Did the police jump the gun in arresting
Needham?", That title is BS. I read the times article and the DA clearly states that they have two eye witnesses that put Needham at the scene of the crime as well as two jail house confessions from other inmates. If Needham was named had not been arrested and it was him, you would see public outcry. If Needham was named, then arrested, then released due to further information that it was not him, you would bee public outcry. Damned if you do, Damned if you don't. Police will not win the media. I am not an advocate for the Shreveport times, but they have a good article online. One of channel 3's reporters is the boyfriend of a court appointed attorney on this case, reckon that had anything to do with their article? Cops are human just like you and me..... and S%&$ Happens.

  4. This new information added with misleading the public and the media by the BCPD is a recipe for incompetence!

  5. I don't think that a relationship between a court-appointed lawyer and a channel 3 reporter has anthing at all to do with the situation. Do you think that the reporter planted the bullet at Emerson's Store? People socialize and copulate and have all sorts of relationships with all sorts of other people. But none of that has anything to do with the facts of these two cases. Anon 8:20 is blowing smoke to be bringing up such a relationship that is not relevant to any of the facts.

  6. Anon at 8:20, what do you think happened with the gun? Do you think that maybe the guy they arrested for the Haughton robbery was an accmoplice in the Norris shooting?
I have no idea what happened, but the gun turning up being used after Needham was jailed does raise some legitimate questions.

  8. ""Did the police jump the gun in arresting
    Needham?", That title is BS."

From the Times article that you mentioned:
"And it also causes Marvin to question if a man indicted in connection with the triple homicide is the right suspect."

  9. I believe Needham killed Bill Norris and got rid ofvthe gun. Clark came into possession ofvthe gun afterwards. They are all pieces of sh**. What is disturbing to me is that these guys use to never commit crimes in Bossier. But for some reason they are becoming brave.

  10. The BCPD use to be respected, because they used to go after real criminals and kicked ass on those who needed it. Now the BCPD will stop some teenager for a minor or made up fraction, call three or four more cars to join them, and crawl through the kid's car for thirty minutes looking for a marijuana roach. When they don't find anything they'll tell the poor kid he looks like someone they had reports on earlier that was dealing dipe in the area. How do I know this? It's happened to my son and a couple of his friends on different occasions.

  11. I guess when they were kicking other oeople's ass you were fine with that but since it's your kid you no longer respect them. Did they get arrested or ticketed. If not then why you crying. Me personally, I would appreciate the cops stopping my kids and searching their car. That's to ensure they are not doing things theyvate not suppose to be doing whenvthey are not in my presence. I guess your one of these parents who thinks their kid dors no wrong. Good job BCPD. I can't stand crybaby parents.

  12. Why must you always create a blog that is going to start a big bash the cops festival? Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't your son part of the department being criticized? Why don't you do something to support them instead of tear them down?

  13. Anyone that lives in Bossier knows the police can be overzealous..i dont think that is a problem commonly associated with only bossier city.

To the parent, explain the law to your child that the police have to have reasonable cause to search, otherwise they need a search warrant. You can REFUSE consent to search.

We don't really have enough information to bash the police at this point. Maybe there is a connection between these two thugs, maybe not. It certainly brings into play reasonable doubt at this point if there is no connection and it will be hard to prosecute.

The police do things that piss us all off. But guess what, so does every other profession, its just that the police are always in the spotlight. If everything we did at work was scrutinized by the public we would all probably look bad. There are always some bad apples in the bunch, but frankly being a police officer is a thankless job.

I think those guys take their jobs seriously, but they make errors and are human (god forbid) Corruption is another matter. Im not a Marvin fan but like an earlier poster mentioned with two eye witnesses he had a reasonable basis to arrest the guy. I would be more worried if after they found the bullet evidence that was covered up.

  14. Just because there may be no connection between the two men doesn't mean anything. Copperhead is a low life. He associated with other low lifes. It's possible that copperhead got rid of the gun and it ended up in the hands of this other guy. I know most people who read this blog can't comprehend this because they don't live the lifestyle which these drug dealing thugs lived. They all criminals that's their connection.

  15. I think in the end this is goingvto make the D.A's case stronger. The fact that the other dumba** got the gun and went and robbed a store using the gun only helps. Without that guy being such an idiot, the police may not have ever been able to recover the weapon used. The fact that neither one is talking also helps. These are two high profile cases. Marvin and the police know they have to get it right. In the end I predict copperhead is convicted of murder and the other guy is convicted of armed robbery.

  16. Big shocker Loresha Wilson wrote the story. She has been trying to create doubt since this incident began. Let the evidence play it self out. I have no doubt they are both guilty. They just happened to use the same gun.

I could blog about the flowers blooming and some people are going to bash the police. I have always supported the police. I have never said anything that could be construed as 'bashing'.

  18. Only a fool would always support the police. It was all of humanity that fell from the holy estate to which humans were created. It is not like everybody has a fallen human nature except the police. We all came from the same stock, and the citizens need to watch the police just as closely as the police need to watch the citizens.

"I read the times article and the DA clearly states that they have two eye witnesses that put Needham at the scene of the crime as well as two jail house confessions from other inmates."

'cause those are unassailable sources of evidence. come on, dude, your resting your case on a snitch? and other than snitches, eyewitness testimony is the LEAST reliable type of evidence. do a little research. of all the cases in which DNA freed innocent people from prison, the vast majority featured eyewitness testimony and snitches. it's common knowledge, except to our own da, i guess, that eyewitnesses are not reliable.

  20. oh, and jim, i like the title. "jump the gun" haha.

  21. It was a poor investigation by BCPD. The only thing Bossier City police are good at are giving tickets to pregnant women and families at Brownlee park that are forced to park in the grass during little league football practice. The can arrest many people, just not get a conviction.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Anon@1:04,
First of all what do you about the investigation to know it was poor? Second of all if the police are ever writing "chickensh** tickets, it because someone called the station crying about something to the chief, mayor, or city councilmen. Those officers are then instructed to write those tickets by the "higher ups".
Know your facts before you sling mud.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Wrong....

There is a high ranking official in the BPSO who lives across the street from the park who calls in on the people who park on the grass. He thinks he owns the park and he parks on the grass all the damn time in his unmarked car. If he cant park their, he calls BCPD and has all of the cars ticketed.

  24. If what I read is reliable, the second dude had the gun before the triple homicide and perhaps after. Forensic evidence like projectiles and shell casings have and will continue to be part of the evidence linking someone to a crime scene.
Guns are quite portable, however, and are capable of being in two or three places in different hands, without defying the laws of physics.
Deceiving the public and closed door hearings got this case off on the wrong foot. This gun and his doubts because of it being discussed liberally by the Bossier DA have shot this case in the foot, unless the suspect confesses before a live studio audience.
