I had a bet with a couple of guys on Facebook. As a result, they are displaying fleurs de lis as their Facebook photos for a week. Not easy for them.
Had the Cowboys won, I would have to display their logo on Facebook and on the blog.
Not going to do it on Facebook, but as a nod to the great performance of the Cowboys tonight and as a nod to all our readers who are Cowboy fans, I will sport the logo on the blog for a couple of days.

Labor Day in Louisiana
Means the start of LSU and New Orleans Saints football. Saturday's game against NC was a squeaker, LSU style, but they got the win.
The Saints will open Thursday night against the Vikings.
For your enjoyment, the LSU Golden Band from Tigerland performing before the BCS Championship game in New Orleans - you know, the last one that we one.
They are at the Jackson Brewery. For you younger folks who don't remember Jax Beer, and especially for the oldies who do remember, the classic Kangaroo commercial.

A Super Bowl Drinking Game
I ‘borrowed’ this from Mostly Cajun. I’m hoping he has a ‘name game’ post today, I never miss that on a Sunday! Check it out.
Pat also listed a few of them at And So it Goes in Shreveport. She also has coverage of her adventures at the Centaur Parade with some good pictures.
A SuperBowl drinking game. (This one’s been making the email rounds. Go figure!)
1. Every time they mention hurricane Katrina, drink 1
2. If they show pictures of the City of New Orleans right after Katrina, drink 1
3. Every time they say how much the Saints mean to the City of New Orleans, drink 1
4. Every time the words “tragedy”, “flood”, or “devastation” are used, drink 1
5. Every time they talk about how good Reggie Bush was in college, drink 3
6. If they show Kim Kardashian in the stands, drink 5
7. Every time they show a picture of Reggie Bush with a bat or say “bringing the wood” drink for 5 seconds
8. Every time Reggie Bush gets negative yardage trying to run around in the backfield a bunch and outrun the defense, drink 1 and turn to the person next to you and say “I told you Vince Young should have won the Heisman”
9. Every time Reggie Bush gets up and flexes his arms in that pose he likes to do, drink 1
10. If they mention Tim Tebow for any reason, funnel a beer.
11. Every time they say that “it’s destiny for the Saints to win” drink 1
12. If they show footage of Katrina survivors at the Superdome, take a shot of cheap liquor If they do it twice, on the second, chug a jug of Mad dog 20/20.

16. If Jeremy Shockey pretends to be hurt after dropping a pass, drink 2
17. If they mention the Saints beating the Falcons in 2006 in the first game after Katrina in the Superdome, drink 5 and remember that we are still a better football team with better fans.

22. If they show Chris Paul at the game, drink 1 and mention to someone how much better he is than Marvin Williams.

New Orleans judge delays asbestos trial due to Saints Mania
“Considering the historic victory of the New Orleans Saints, the court finds that the trial will not be able to proceed as originally scheduled,” Judge Baneris wrote in his order delaying the start of the trial.
“The court takes judicial notice that Saintsmania permeates the City of New Orleans. Many prospective jurors for the Parish of Orleans, several attorneys involved in this litigation and court personnel plan on traveling to the promised land—the Super Bowl in Miami, Florida. The court recognizes that this pilgrimage enhances the chances of the Who Dat Nation to acquire the long sought-after Holy Grail—the Vince Lombardi trophy,” the judge wrote.
The case in question is Dano Paul Becnel v. Northrop Grumman Ship Systems, Inc. et al.

Bobby Hebert in Drag
One week before Super Bowl Sunday, hundreds of men wore dresses, in a parade to honor the late sportscaster Buddy Diliberto. Buddy D, as he is affectionately called, had promised his listeners that if the Saints ever made it to the Super Bowl, he would wear a dress. Here's former Saints quarterback Bobby Hebert at the parade - he poured beer on a Colts fan, all in fun of course.

Saints first win ever was in Shreveport
I had the privilege of being at the first game the New Orleans Saints ever won. It was a pre-season game, so didn’t count officially, but it counted with those who were there!
The St. Louis Cardinals came to Shreveport to play the Saints on August 12, 1967.
It was held at Fair Grounds Stadium, now Independence Stadium, home of the Independence Bowl. It was a good bit smaller 42 years ago.
I was 20 years old at the time and got together with a group of friends to go see this new Louisiana team.
It was a great time and a pretty good party too, before, during and after!
Any of you other oldies out there attend this one?

KMSS will carry Saints game this weekend
When Channel 33 in Shreveport announced that they would carry the Dallas Cowboys this Sunday at 3PM rather than the Saints, fans reacted. In fact, it caused such an uproar that KMSS decided to put a poll up on their website and let the viewers decide.
The results were not surprising, to me at least. Geaux Saints!
