Congratulations Alabama
Jordan Jefferson, don't let the door hit you on the way out. Hopefully with Mettenberger and Kiel next year LSU will have an offense.
I know there are some smart people reading this....Can one of them explain why Les Miles treated Jarrett Lee like he has? After tonight I will continue to support the LSU players, but look forward to the day Miles is gone! His treatment of Lee is inexcuseable! Jefferson had the look of a "deer in the headlights" all night, and was unable to generate any offense. But Miles kept him in. Lee must have really done something terrible to get the kind of treatment he's received this year! Have to believe some potential recruits are turning it over in their minds.
Jarrett lee is just as horrible at QB as Jefferson. All it took was a good defense to expose it. Les Miles was right when he said Jefferson gave them a better chance. It's football. It's not a popularity contest. I like LSU but I hate LSU fans. Les Miles has one 10 games a year ever since he has been the coach. Yet you all still criticize him every chance y'all get. Remember LSU probably wouldn't be playing for the championship if it weren't for the mad hatter. Be proud of the team and what they accomplished and let the man coach.
People sure have turned against that man considering how supportive they were of him when he was in trouble. Apparently right or wrong depends upon whether LSU is gonna win or lose.
8:17, Neither one of the QB's got them there. Their running backs and defense got them to the big dance. Remember, in the first game LEE threw two interceptions before being pulled. I'll stick with my first comment. LSU got lucky the first game.
How about this for a perspective. It was just a figgin' game. No one lost any limbs or any other body parts or their lives. The other day an airman from Barksdale and two others real heros died in Afghanistan when they were trying to dispose of a bomb that could have killed countless others Get real folks.
The first game was nothing more than a scrimmage. It meant nothing. What it did was allow 2 coaching staffs to get game film on each other. Now go home and prepare for the game on Jan 9th in New Orleans. What was proven last night is that Nick Saban is a better coach than Les Miles. Alabama was prepared for the rematch, LSU was not. I am not sure Alabama is a better team than LSU, although they certainly were last night, but they do have a better coach.
As much as I like football, anon at 1:04 is correct. We put way more importance on entertainment than it deserves and that is all football is for most of us, Entertainment. I enjoy watching sports a lot but couldn't care less about Snookie or Hollywood couples, but those things are important to some people.
A lot of parents, mostly dads, do not know their child's English teacher but will know each coach. I hope at some point our priorities change.
Relax, we are just discussing sports.that's what men do. Nobody has forgotten about the soldiers. Before every sporting event there is usually a moment of silence as we remember our brave men and women. I certainly enjoy discussing sports more than politics.
You can argue jefferson may be a better quarterback than Lee, the fact remains Lee had a great track records minus the first half in the first alabama game.
I like Miles, he has done a great job with the program, but I do not understand why that didnt pull Lee sometime during the second half...we all know in sports, whether it be baseball hitting streaks/slumps, or basketball scoring and slumps, that trends dominate in sports-jefferson clearly was off, but I also think the play calling was not jefferson's fault...all the failed quarterback options plays and lack of vertical attack. oh well
1) Yes, Lee is serviceable at best...but so is Jefferson. Look at when LSU was at (arguably) their best. I'd say it was most of 2010 and the early parts of this season. We don't win Tennessee, Florida, or Alabama without Lee last year. Same thing this year with Alabama and Jefferson. Les was correct when he said something along the lines of, "we will need both QBs to succeed this year." The question is, why didn't we play both on January 9th?
2) Les is a good, maybe even great, coach. Anyone that wants him fired is just being reactionary. We went 13-1 this season and beat the orange bowl champs at their place, the rose bowls champs at a neutral site, the cotton bowl champs at home, AND the national champs IN Tuscaloosa. Sure we struggled in 2008. Jefferson hit some sophomore growing pains in 2009. We were pretty damn good in 2010, and in 2011 we went undefeated in the regular season, won the SEC championship, but got smoked in the BCSNCG. Every team has a bad game, we just had ours at the worst possible time. That doesn't mean that Miles should be canned. If you say that then I ask you this...who could do what he has done? I can think of ONE guy, and even he has had rough seasons and made some pretty crappy QB and in-game decisions. Plus, he ain't coming back.
3) The sky isn't falling. LSU lost the "big one" but they still had a better record AND season that anyone else in the country. Compare their resume to ANY other team in the country's and try to argue that. You can't. LSU had the best season of ANY TEAM in the country. Period.
4) Drop the "oh well, we'll be better next year" talk. The fact of the matter is, nobody knows that. Yes, LSU went 13-1 with undoubtedly the toughest schedule of any team in the NCAA and the schedule is easier next year but there are no guarantees. Is Mett better than Lee or Jefferson? Probably. That still doesn't mean LSU is automatically a better team than they were this year. The bottom line is this: be thankful for the season that team just had. Despite the end result, this was arguably the best LSU team that most fans have ever seen or will ever see. Those guys busted their asses for a long time to get where they were this year, enjoy it.
Rules of the road: 1. No personal attacks or insults. 2. No accustory statements about wrongdoing or criminal acts against anyone. 3. Say all you want about the pros and cons concerning the candidates and the issues, or the general subject of the blog post, just follow Rule #1 and Rule #2.

Mr 3:27 AM, perhaps you can tell me who was the QB that got them there in the first place, it was Jarrett Lee, not Jefferson!

Did The bus make it back to Baton Rouge yet?
