The Bossier/Webster Judge's race: an Update

Since the primary election on November 6th, the race for 26th JDC Judge has taken some twists and turns.
For anyone who is not aware of everything that has happened and is happening, this is an attempt to help you sort it out.
In case you have really been hiding under a rock, the candidates remaining are Michael Nerren. Nerren is an Assistant DA and has a private practice in Bossier City.
Whit Graves is a former State Trooper turned lawyer who served at one time as an Assistant DA, and is now in private practice.
Nerren has the endorsement of DA Schuyler Marvin, Mayor Lo Walker, Marshal Lynn Austin, and other public figures.
Graves has the endorsement of the Louisiana Republican Party.
Eleven years ago Whit Graves was sanctioned by the State Supreme Court for failing to file a sentencing memorandum in a timely manner. He received a nine-month suspension, deferred, and two years supervised probation.
You can read the Opinion here.
Earlier this week, the Nerren campaign sent out a flyer stating that Graves had been suspended. In response, the Graves campaign released this letter from the State Supreme Court.
In the meantime, the Louisiana Republican Party endorsed Whit Graves for the position. The reason was a flyer that had been distributed by Julian Darby prior to the November 6th election. The Nerren campaign paid Darby $2,000, of which at least part was for the flyer.

The State Republican Party didn’t take kindly to issuing campaign material supporting Barack Obama for president, thus their endorsement of Graves.
The Bossier Parish Republican Executive Committee has a meeting scheduled for late next week, but I have no idea if this will be discussed.
I’ll keep you posted.

  1. Jim please get your facts straight. Have you looked at the flyer yourself? The flyer clearly states as follows: "The Louisiana Supreme Court suspended White Graves from the practice of law in the State of Louisiana for nine months (deferred)..." The flyer clearly states that the suspension was deferred so please correct your column which states otherwise.

  2. I only know what I hear about it, the Nerren campaign hasn't found it in their heart to send me anything. If they had, I would publish it.

Allow me to give you some examples of what the blog post means. I'll even use pictures of the flyer and relate them to how they are a lie. Here are the picture for evidence.

The fact that he used these words is the part that makes this flyer incorrect. Graves didn't lie in court. It was a miscommunication. Also Nerren forgot to put deferred next to suspended. Please make sure to get your facts straight before trying to correct someone.

  4. Jim stated that the flyer did not mention that the suspension was deferred. Simple as that Mr. Z. In fact the flyer did state the suspension was deferred. Simple as that. Mr. Z the facts are straight as an arrow. You stand corrected.

  5. My great grandaddy once told me to believe nothing that you "hear" and half of what you "see". Guess the proof is in the pudding.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Hey Mr. Z, since when does "misled" mean "miscommunication." Your play on words leads me to believe that vocabulary wasn't your strongest area in grade school.

    ReplyDelete
  7. mis·lead
    verb \ˌmis-ˈlēd\
    mis·ledmis·lead·ing
    Definition of MISLEAD
    transitive verb
: to lead in a wrong direction or into a mistaken action or belief often by deliberate deceit

This is from Webster's Dictionary. Let's see does "lied" mean the same as "deliberate deceit" Uhhhhh....Come on man talk about backwoods education.

    ReplyDelete
  8. so basically Nerren would put his name next to charles manson if he thought it would get him more votes.

Off topic, I do appreciate the name Mr. Z. It's kind of catchy.
On topic, I ask you to take a look at the two pictures. One says suspended in big red letters. The fact that it doesn't say deferred next to it is a lie from the Nerren camp. I am not speaking of what the highlighted words say that are in the flyer. I am going to also go ahead and assume you are Anon @ 3:26 and 3:32 also. So...

    Anon @ 3:26 and @ 3:32
If you would like to have an actual discussion instead of throwing insults about my education level, which you know nothing about, then please feel free to. I would love to discuss this topic with a clear minded person that won't turn to belittling or attacking anyone based off of who they are choosing for District Judge.

  10. Who in the state republican party did not take kindly? Who voted for this endorsement?

  11. Whit Graves privet practice specializing in DWI CASES, miscommunication (yea) lie. READ IT FOR YOURSELF!!!

Respondent eventually filed a brief in this matter on October 18, 1999, but did not file a Sentence Review Memorandum. On November 29, 1999, this court personally informed respondent before beginning oral arguments in the matter that he was required to file a Sentence Review Memorandum. Respondent told this court he had a copy of the memorandum with him and would check with the clerk’s office after arguments to take care of the matter.

After one month, respondent had still not filed a Sentence Review Memorandum. Accordingly, on December 28, 1999, this court ordered respondent to show cause why he should not be held in contempt for failing to file the Sentence Review Memorandum in a timely manner.

Respondent appeared before this court on January 18, 2000, claiming that he had not received any notice that he was required to file a Sentence Review Memorandum, despite the order dated June 14, 1999 from this court and despite being personally informed by the court before oral arguments on November 29, 1999 of his obligations under Rule XXVIII. Respondent blamed his failure to file the Sentence Review Memorandum on his poor health, absences and incompetent staff. The Sentence Review Memorandum was finally filed in this court on January 18, 2000.

  13. 6:46 PM That link is just another pro Graves and bash Nerren ad.

    ReplyDelete
  14. A better course of action would be to acknowledge that Whit made a mistake and simply apologize for the mistake instead of foolishly minimizing what Whit actually did. The true character flaw of Whit and his supporters is the refusal to acknowledge the mistake instead of trying to put a spin on words. Man up and show responsibility and accountability instead of denying the truth.

    ReplyDelete
  15. There is no attack and belittlement based upon who you are supporting. Just acknowledgement that your denial undermines any credible position you may have. Acknowledge the mistake and bad judgment concerning the Supreme Court case against Whit then maybe we can have an actual discussion concerning the election. Until then Mr. Z your position appears to be clouded by bias and uninformed decision making process.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I have to chuckle when I read this...the video is discredited because it’s another bashing of Nerren? Hmmm let's see...what have ALL the others been...Bashing Graves on something that happened in 1999, apparently that is when Ms. Darlene worked for Graves because she takes it’s so personal. Obviously, she let the ball drop at some point or would not have such a personal vendetta on Graves. I would be more concerned with what is going on in the here and now. Ok, so Graves, messed up, obviously the Supreme Court forgave him, I have seen the letter of good standing and so has everyone else, so what’s the problem. He got his hand slapped. The way this Darlene carries on I would not be surprised if she ever told Graves about the calls, letters etc., who knows. From what I read on here, I would not be surprised at all if that ever came out. Which like I said, that was in 1999 or at least that is when she dated it. That was 13 years ago. The video from the above link is what is going on today. Who Nerren associates with, works for, the accusatory, below the belt flyer, payment to the UID, the sample ballot. Yet Nerren supporters want to say he is a man of integrity. I was raised birds of a feather flock together. People surround themselves with LIKE people. If Nerren wanted my vote, he should have chosen his friends more wisely. WHIT GRAVES DISTRICT JUDGE

    ReplyDelete
  17. ditto anon 755 well said

    ReplyDelete
  18. How about Whit's bogus claim that a District Judge has the ability to lower taxes. Come on man! That claim is like the Pope claiming the ability to stop premarital sex !!!

    ReplyDelete
  19. 11:22 - you know he never said that. He said he has a plan to make the system more efficient so no additional judges would be needed to keep up.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Yea he did. In his flyer he said "the only candidate that has a plan to lower your taxes" and that's a joke.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I got that flyer that said Whit would lower taxes. Why does he always have to lie about something. Seems to me Whit has a problem telling the truth. If he will LIE to the Supreme Court He will Lie on a Flyer.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Jim great update Birds of a feather Flock togeather you bunch of Liars.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Whit never said he would lower taxes. The flyer said he has a plan to not make your taxes go up by not adding another judge and support staff. Carlson tried to attack the flyer in her "opinion" article in the Bossier Press saying it would not "substantially" increase "local" taxes to add another judge because they are paid by the State. The letter to the editor the next week pointed out that State taxes were our money also. Everybody does know that Carlson is 1st Asst. DA Lane Pittard's personal secretary don't they?

    ReplyDelete
  24. It has been my experience that less than 500 or so people are passionate about a local race. The rest just try to filter out the garbage to pick somebody. I just try to identify the most negative of the bunch and vote opposite.

    ReplyDelete
  25. 12:10 - I think that's a very good observation and I agree.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I did not know that about Marty Carlson. It makes complete sense now why she is clearly in the pocket for all the good ole boys.

    ReplyDelete
  27. You can agree or disagree with Marty Carlson's conclusions, but she is one of the most informed people in the City/Parish. She attends meetings, talks to people, and often has more knowledge of what is going on than do a number of elected officials.

    ReplyDelete
  28. The cognitive skill level on this blog is either very low or used to be one sided. At least as a Graves supporter, I see Nerren’s camp issue with the Supreme Court, got it. Yet once again, the Supreme Court, who has the right to judge, gave him his punishment. It is over, he messed up, and they punished, forgave and moved on. I have very low tolerance for people that take bits and pieces and run with it like it’s a winning lottery ticket. Did you read the flyer? It states he would streamline the court system. If the court system gets backed up another judge would be placed. With another judge come lots of courtroom expenses. These costs are paid for by us, the tax payers which in turn could mean raising taxes to cover it. So help me out, where is the LIE? Whit Graves for District Judge. Carlson is informed...like I have said birds of a feather flock together.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Yal need to remember , those of you that say whit just 'made a mistake' when he got suspended need to know this: the Supreme Court does not sanction lawyers that 'make a mistake.' Lawyers are people and people do make mistakes. But whit graves was suspended for lying, not because he made a mistake. Lying is a flaw in a persons character and honesty

    ReplyDelete
  30. You Sherlock at 2:01 I would love to meet...I have never known one person who has never lied in some fashion. But in this case, you have been told in a million ways what happened...take a mixture of incompetent staff, work overload, and politics and you have your anwser, but you are not going to let this horse alone so I don't know why I even bother. It is just I am so sick and tired of all the hoopla over nothing..You best look at the video circulating. The information on the video does not surprise me; however, I do wonder how many other dots could be connected. Your candidate is a fine person. His achilles heel was not disassociating himself from the DA office prior to his decision to run for judge. He is a done goose.

    ReplyDelete
  31. If you ask me if I will submit a report to you, and I do not, that is not a lie--it is more along the lines of exactly what the supreme court stated, he misled the court. Lying would be saying he submitted it when in fact he had not. (nerren and others love to double speak about what happened all the while claiming nerren is mr integrity. you cant have it both ways.

Certainly it was a mistake in judgement on his part, 14 years ago. on the other hand we have a candidate that is being financed by a da's office under fbi investigation and other power players with a history of good ole boy sweetheart deals from that same office.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Lie carries such a broad scheme. He without sin cast the first stone. If you breathe air...you have lied at some point.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Of course everyone lies at some point in their lives however only a buffoon would lie to the Louisiana supreme court like whit did. Lieing to the supreme court can cost an attorney his livelihood and shows the true character on ones self. I wonder how many times whit stereotyped individuals when he was a state trooper.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Both candidates are full of trash...the only difference is that Nerren is supported by criminals (watch the video). Nerren will probly win this thing but if u had a conscience I would say stay at home or vote for Graves.Bossier City is starting to look like Gothem City and the voters are responsible for this pathetic display.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Jim,
Marty Carlson may be well informed but that's becausevshe is on the good ole boys side. I bet if she wrote a couple negativevarticles about them then she wouldn't be so "well informed.". I bet she wouldnt be well employed either.

    ReplyDelete
  36. the above poster is correct. mr graves was punished for lying, not because of any mistake. I also agree that lying is a way to measure a persons honesty. If a person lies, then that same person is not an honest person. It is simple.

    ReplyDelete
  37. If you read the decision, he was sanctioned for failing to follow an order of the court regarding a sentencing memorandum. No lawyer in their right mind would deliberately lie to the Supreme Court, and the opinion cited mitigating factors.
The Nerren campaign seems to be very worried and obviously feels that unslung mud is the obstacle to election. Better be careful, that tactic has been known to backfire in the past.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I did not read it that way. his statements to the court about having already filed it (lie) is what the court referred to when they suspended him. maybe you should read it again.

    ReplyDelete
  39. "The facts in this case are undisputed. Respondent failed to comply with the orders of this court in connection with the filing of the Sentence Review Memorandum."

  40. wow!!! deep throat now in bossier-new video!

    http://tinyurl.com/bossierdeepthroat

    ReplyDelete
  41. The cases in the video that this "anonymous" keeps posting were very weak thus they were nol prossed. Just because they gave money to Nerren proves nothing!!!! Whoever is doing these video's had better watch there back because you are making a lot powerful people upset by bringing there innocent family members into this. This goes against the very principles of a campaign.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Just saw Nerren commercial on TV 12. The ad stated Whit Graves was suspended from the practice of law. That is a lie. And about the video, when you expose corruption of course you are gonna be threatened. That is why I doubt anybody will ever find out who made video.

    ReplyDelete
  43. ANON 4:40,I think you just proved what the video suggests. You said "Whoever is doing these video's had better watch there back because you are making a lot powerful people upset by bringing there innocent family members into this."

Sounds like a threat to me. Negative campaigning has been around since the beginning of time, this is nothing new. Either you are personally in the video or you are AWARE of what these people are capable of.

Thanks for proving that out. Also if they were "innocent" given their "power" as YOU claim, there would be police fired over these false accusations-haven't heard of that happening recently.

    ReplyDelete
  44. The problem with not knowing exactly who made video, multiple heads will role in attempt to get it's creator.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Incredible that anyone would threaten the creator of a mere video which is all public record. The creator should be applauded for the balls to expose totally corrupt tactics. Thank you is in line here. You confirmed my vote.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Typical Graves tactic to mislead and deflect the real issue. But, the people are seeing the Graves strategy of distorting the truth that the legal community has seen for years.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I've read the opinion attached and typical of lawyers, the opinion is less than direct. Was Graves suspended or not? My vote depends on that answer.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I think it is so sick to hurt all the familes and children in that video just to get votes. I do not feel a thank you is in order at all for I feel that who ever made that viedo and the supporters that keep posting it on facebook may one day be faced with a less fortunate situation and pray someone don't hurt them or their familes with their less fortunate situation. I support Nerren and know how Greaves will do anything even hurting familes and children and Lie to get what he wants. It was a horriable thing to do to drag supporters and their family through the mud just to get votes. Yes Graves has run before and everytime he has run this is what he does he Lies when the truth would serve him better. I pray for the supporters and their familes and Nerren and his family through all this.

    ReplyDelete
  49. 10:03 i pray 4 u that u r so blind.

    ReplyDelete
  50. How many other elections has mr graves lost?

    ReplyDelete
  51. 10:16 Graves has run 3 other times

    ReplyDelete
  52. 10:03 spoken like a true Graves supporter Evil!

    ReplyDelete
  53. As Danny Lawler would say, if you don't want it printed, don't let it happen! These people in the video are CRIMINALS that got sweetheart deals from the DA's office. Turning this into the "poor families" routine insults our intelligence. The information is all in the public domain. It is also curious to me that the names I saw are some of his biggest supporters (nerren's)

maybe someone should investigate some of those individual cases, and in the mean time figure out which ones the video producer did not find that I'm sure are out there.

    ReplyDelete
  54. What is the video everyone is talking about, and who's children are being hurt?

    ReplyDelete
  55. Wow...watch your back? Really, you just gave affirmation to all the talk I have heard. No way would I vote for Nerren and I hope the FBI cleans house in the DAs office.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Anon 10:03, i suggest you lodge your complaint about families being hurt by the video to the family of the 68 year old that had her throat slashed, was murdered, then was run over by a car and left for dead following multiple nolprosse cases in the da's office that nerren is working for, endorsed by, and apparently being financed by. now that is what i call SICK

    ReplyDelete
  57. cockroach theory comes to mind on video, u wonder what else

    ReplyDelete
  58. I voted early today (for Whit Graves, btw) and I was all alone. I doubt there will be much of a turnout for this election, so if you care about it either way, you need to get to the polls and VOTE. Use it or lose it.

    ReplyDelete
  59. If you people would think a little bit and put 2&2 together the video maker has to be Danny Lawler of the Inquisiter. He obviously has no fear of attacking corruption or the DA because he does it all the time.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Nerren now running another false TV ad. He claims Graves suspended and he never was. Folks if you get a speeding ticket and the Judge says I am letting you go but don't speed again cuz if you do you gotta pay both. That is what happened to Graves. He never was suspended or lost a days work. Why caint Nerren tell the truth?

    ReplyDelete
  61. ANONYMOUS 6:40 why can't Graves tell the truth he would't know the truth if it fell allll over him he has Lied and continues to Lie. Get real. Nerren stating FACTS EVERYONE if you have any Questions about Graves go look it upppppp!!!!! The fact is Graves LIED!!!!!! OH and Anonymous 10:03 I was talking about alllll the familes the supporters and their familes and the Victums family for it is a unfortunate event that both familes will never overcome. I hope your children never mess up or have problems for someone may put it alllll over you tube!!!!! Graves and his supporters attacked supporters of Nerren and their familes to get votes and Graves knows all to well about Lying he does it every time he opens his mouth this Lie is just one in a long line Graves and his supporters have been telling. Graves even attacked Nerrens family and his children he will do anything in desperation to win. Nerren has my vote and that Video Has brought a big eye opemer for many along with all Whits other dirty politics! NERREN has mine and all my familes vote.

    ReplyDelete
  62. A6:56 are you saying that Nerren supporters and their families are crooks that deserve not to be prosecuted or exposed? Bet Nerren glad you supporting him.

    ReplyDelete
  63. You people need to get a grip and grow up. Everyone has the right to their opinion and to support whomever they feel is best for the job. And to sit and keep up the hateful bashing of both candidates and people supporting them says a lot about you people. Live and let live and mind your business. If people put this kind of effort into their own lives and families and focus on raising the children in this town with some morals and set better examples for the children then this would be a better world to live in.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I heard that channel 3 was going to run a story on the contents of the video and the odd coincidence that so many Nerren supporters had received unwavering prosecutorial discretion by the DA's office. They will also address the grim reality that many prosecutors determine who to prosecute merely on political considerations. This ought to be interesting!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  68. I think it is pretty clear that Collier wants a new DA--these ads have nothing to do with a judge's race -or Mike Nerren that works in the Juvenile Division. Collier has a vendetta and has been attacking since he lost the Burchett Race. He and Adley together have done more to revive the good old boy system than Nerren could do in the rest of his life.

Nerren is a baseball coach and a good man, these attack ads are not related to him.

How many of Whit's cases have been nol prossed? Has anyone done a video on that?

I respect both men, but do not like how this election has become more about replacing a DA than picking the best candidate for judge.

    ReplyDelete
  69. If Collier had anything to do with the video he would'nt of had his best friend Henry Cantrell's name involved. Bark up another tree!

    ReplyDelete
  70. 6:36AM, your 2+2 is not adding up because Danny Lawler is on the list of contributors to Michael Nerren, and for big money too. I think he is about making money, not caring about corruption, and the Inquisitor is just one of his tools to do so. Scandal sells, and he sells it. But as long as the authorities use his auction business, he seems to be happy with them.

    ReplyDelete
  74. The irony of all this is that Nerren is running ads accusing Graves of "lying" like some of the other genius posters on here, when in fact the Supreme Court made no mention of "lying". The Nerren ad is a lie and a misrepresentation of the facts.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Supreme Court said Graves "misled this Court". Not much room to wiggle on that quote. If that was my experience at the Court, I don't think I'd be bragging about it.

    ReplyDelete
  76. you are correct anon 547, and that is what nerren should have put on flyer. effective mailer though im sure. i have yet to see where graves was bragging about it, i think he has tried to clear up the embellishment and misrepresentation of nerren by supplying the letter.

    ReplyDelete
  77. If you will Lie to the Supreme court you will Lie to anyone. I went to read the case and Graves did Lie. The fact is He Lied!!!!! MISLED is just a nice way of saying he Lied. I went through the case word for word and how the Grave supporters can say ohhh it was just a slap on his hand. yea do not think he got all that for telling the truth. Graves is dirty and has proven that to hold truth with all his Negative attacks. Let me give everyone a little run down Graves started first out the gate with a Lie about Nerrens wife and son, then Graves and his side kick Collier and Lawler started putting anything and everything about the DA'S office in the enquisder the one that Lawler owns every week to try and attack Nerren. Then Graves went and told a family member that he did not realize was family Mike Nerren worked for the Sheriff office and Marvin only hired him because he was broke. OH it gets better Graves then once again attacked one of Nerrens Family members his sister. Then from there a youtube viedo to attack Nerren's supporters and family then to send out a flyer and a commercial that Nerren voted for Obama and supported the Obama Health Care and paid for votes. Then to put out another youtube viedo called DEEP THROAT so I do believe that Graves has showed his true colors. Nerren's mail out and commercial state facts that has a case number to look up and read it all for yourself its facts and the fact is Graves has a history of Lying and vicousley attacking everyone to get what he wants. Do we want a Judge that will do whatever even Lie to win votes no matter the effect it may have on others.

  86. Rules of the road:
    1. No personal attacks or insults.
    2. No accustory statements about wrongdoing or criminal acts against anyone.
    3. Say all you want about the pros and cons concerning the candidates and the issues, or the general subject of the blog post, just follow Rule #1 and Rule #2.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Nice try Darlene. If you look at the facts, the first attacks were from NERREN, everyone knows this except you apparently. Negative campaigning is part of politics, and it's normally done when you are behind, which I don't believe Nerren was, but nonetheless he initiated it.

All these other accusations about Graves attacking Nerren's family is complete non-sense otherwise you would have "PROOF". You saying it's say doesn't make it so.

Graves obviously did not produce the video, and I don't believe he even was aware of all the nol-prosse stuff that was exposed otherwise you would have seen it in traditional media (tv,radio) I wish Graves would expose to that media because people need to know about it.

Who knows what is going on with the FBI investigation into Mike Nerren/Schuylar Marvin office, but nothing would surprise me at this point with that group.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Jim maybe you can weigh in on this, but on the ballot above it looks like to me the Darby flyer that nerren paid $2000 for is in violation of the (Political material; ethics; prohibitions) set forth by the State of Louisiana. Here is the link:

As for personal attacks on families you obviously have missed the message, the good ole boy, favors, crookedness was meant to be exposed, price of getting in bed with DA office, being backed by the DA and they are already donating to cover their ass. I hope none of them that get off ever hurt your family or loved one. If they do, you will know who to thank.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Anon 858....I agree.

    ReplyDelete
  91. another point about the video---every single piece of information is factual and based on public record. If telling the truth is "attacking" then I suggest you take another look at your candidate. If learning the facts about a candidate and it's supporters give you pause, then it may be time to re-examine your basis for supporting them.

    ReplyDelete

You can delete every post but it will not ever change the fact you allow Grave supporters to always Lie and assume and point fingers but let a nerren supporter really tell the TRUTH and it gets deleted!!! I am not assumeing anything Graves STARTED THIS and did in fact attack Nerrens wife and Son and Sister and told everyone of the Lies I said he told FACT. I do not see how the Lies come from the horses mouth are assuming. Graves once again started with the first attack on wife and son then talked to a family member and trashed Nerren some more then trashed Nerren allll over Webster and Bossier he was to busy trying to bash Nerren he did't realize the person he was talking to was Nerren's fAMILY!!! Then he starts that Lie about all the Obama mess then if that wasn't enough he attacks Nerrens sister then straight to the youtube videos then to his mail out and commercial packed full of Lies. Oh but that is ok right Jim?? if Whit lies as long as he blames someone else or puts it back on Nerren or the Da's office or Mikes supporters and Family members and oh almost forgot the trash Collier and Lawler and Whit all put in Lawlers paper every freckin day to bash Nerren and while they talked about for the world to hear of all they planed to do to Nerren. You Grave supporters are full of as much Lies as who you support and I have no reason to Lie its a fact all Whit has done to Nerren and his own family so you need to get your facts straight. Jim you really need to call this my Whitley instead of my Bossier. I hope all the hell the Graves supporters and Graves his self have put so many people through was all worth it. Nerren never has been dirty like Graves! Nerren stated facts and left it up to the public to see themself and never attacked Graves or his wife or children or his supporters or their familes nor Graves camp has been bashing Nerren the day this rase started starting off with Nerren's wife and Son. Jim and all Grave supporters this is not Darlene there are a lot more people that don;t like Whitley other then just Darlene.

  94. Nothing in that video had to do with Nerren. Graves has already said he is running for DA even if he was to win this race and this is all about getting at Marvin because you have nothing on Nerren but a bunch of trash you put out there that is Lies. Graves did this very same thing when he ran the last 3 times its all he knows is to Lie. Go Nerren

  95. This blog is a joke. Nerren supporters put your energy in getting the best man in for District Judge Mike Nerren. Don't wast time on this pro Whitley Blog. Everyone knows of the Lies and know Nerren well enough to know fact from fiction. Whit did Robinson and the other guy and family the same way when he ran before its history repeating itself and everyone knows. no more My Whitley.Go Nerren

  96. I guess what I am having trouble with is figuring out whether the last three posters believe what they are saying. Everything in the video "had to do with nerren". He is endorsed and financed by people with criminal records that have mysteriously been nol-prossed. I doubt the police are running around making false arrests these days. He also paid Darby $2000, who was written up in the bossier tribune for "dirty politics". Of course this has nothing to do with Nerren right? You claim Nerren is this all american kids baseball coach/lawyer that is a good man, meanwhile he is ASSOCIATING and PAYING someone like Darby to distribute flyers (that are illegal by the way) to support none other than Obama and Nerren. In addition, he sent out the first attack ad by either candidate that misrepresented the facts, accusing Graves of doing something he was doing at the same time, LIE!

    ReplyDelete
  97. Whit Graves has won no matter how the election turns out!!! The bashing he and his family have gotten have not been baited by him. It is hard to combat stupidity and shady deals and distortions. I dont believe any Graves' supporters have burned any signs. Perhaps there is a mole in the da's office or from someone who once worked there.

    ReplyDelete
  98. The bottom line about the Nerren campaign since the run -off started is all about Whit Graves. Every single word uttered by Nerren is Whit is a lier. He has not said one positive word about himself.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Go Whit...we love you and respect you!

    ReplyDelete
  100. Whit is a Liar proven fact and no Nerren has not had a Nerren sign burned they just Cut the sign out the frame and stole them many of them!and that is ILLEGAL by the way. Nerren did not pay for votes and has done nothing Illegal and guess Graves forgot he knows Darby and used his company ohh but I guess that is a Lie to??? Nerren and his supporters have said many good things about Nerren and trust me Grave and his family started this bashing right out the gate bashing Nerren and his Wife and Son and then all the LIES Graves has told so many that were either family or supporters and from there the Lie about Nerren and Obama and what Nerren did or did not support so many Lies and bashing on Nerren and his family even his sister. That wasn't enough the you tube videos to his bashing and LIYING on his commercial and mail out. Nerren stated the facts and that is the only mail out or commercial out by Nerren don't see Nerren nor his supporters bashing supporters and families and Graves family or children!Collier and Graves are evil and will stop at nothing to win a vote and I do not believe for one minute he knew nothing of the viedos and no the videos are all about getting Marvin and Whit running for DA seems to me he forgot he was running for District Judge and thinks hes running for DA. GRAVES FEELS THE ONLY WAY HE CAN WIN IS TO DO JUST LIKE HE DID THE LAST 3 TIMES HE RAN LIE,LIE,LIE and hurt anyone and everyone on the way just as long as he gets a vote. NERREN STATED FACTS FOR THE PUBLIC TO SEE FOR THEM SELF AND MAKE UP THEIR OWN MIND HES NOT PUTTING OUT YOU TUBE VIDEOS or Liying about who Graves did or did not support nor attacking all his family and supporters and their families.Nerren stated facts in his ad Graves Lied and no Graves put out the first attack on Nerren and his wife and Son and all the other Lies while Nerren never said a word and never bash Graves family or children. Nerren's mail out and commercial just came out and its facts I know you really don't like facts you all would rather Lie but its all facts in Nerrens ad and commercial and to this day Nerren has never crossed the line when it comes to family, children and Graves supportes. I along with many Nerren supporters will vote Nerren because we all know he will be the best one for District Judge.

  103. A744 Does have a point.Looks like to me Nerren just stated a fact in the mailout.Word on the street in my community is that Whit is trying to turn this into a racial issue.I voted for Obama and Nerren.I wish someone could explain to me what is wrong. My people told me that Mr. Nerren is a registered Republican but i voted for him because he is a good man.Am i to believe Mr.graves when says he did not do wrong according to the flyer? My son showed me on the computer and looks like Mr.Graves is really really having a hard time trying to explain why he was untruthful.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Webster is going to a big problem for Mr.Graves.
It could go 65-35 Nerren`s way

    ReplyDelete
  105. Just curious Anon 9:40, how is Graves trying to turn it into a racial issue? Simply pointing out that Nerren paid Julian Darby to put out sample ballots with Obama is not trying to turn it into a racial thing. Please explain your logic if you have any.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Mr.Ed how about reading what i ask and answer my question. The flyer Mr. Nerren put out just stated a fact. Why is it a problem with me voting for Obama and Mr.Nerren. Please explain your logic Mr. Ed to me.Is Mr.Darby a black man?

    ReplyDelete
  107. The problem with Darby is his reputation. Bossier Press wrote an article on him "dirty politics". Everyone knows this. On one hand people on this blog claim Nerren is this really nice guy with integrity, but his actions by utilizing Darby indicate something entirely different. i dont think mr ed can speak for graves, but from my viewpoint its the people he is associating with, as well as who he is being financed by (rich fat cats with various criminal charges mysteriously nol-prossed by his office)

i would go back and read evodna springers endorsement of whit graves. she said it best. anyone that cannot see the big picture of what is going on here is blind, uninformed, or a part of that same group.

    ReplyDelete
  108. I love it when someone answers a question with asking another question. :) But to clear it up for you, here it goes. Yes, Julian is black and he's a democrat that pushed for the Obama vote. However, the color of Julian has got nothing to do with it. What is relevant however is that Nerren is running as a conservative republican and paid to have his name put on a sample ballot with a liberal democrat that collected a whopping 26 percent of the vote in Bossier Parish. A huge mistake on his part in my opinion when the overwhelming majority of the parish votes "R". Nerren's mailer is very weak. It's "misleading" at best, but we all have come to accept that in a political campaign haven't we??

    ReplyDelete
  115. What is wrong with a liberal democrat voting for Mike Nerren? nothing, as long as you are ok with Nerren being financed by a bunch of rich fat cats that have various drug charges, theft, dwi's, etc mysteriously removed (nol-prosse) from court records! Not to mention a prospective judge endorsed by an office under investigation by the FBI for who knows what, a very likely propensity to return favors for that "endorsement" at who's expense is left to be determined.

    ReplyDelete
  116. I noticed the nerren people are unable to explain, or even attempt to explain, the political contributors donating to his campaign that have sweet heart deals from his office.

It's a free country, if Nerren was backing Obama I have no problem with that, I just don't think its right to claim to be a Republican but putting out ballots for obama. This is dishonest and self serving

    ReplyDelete
  117. The Nerren supporters are upset that the Louisiana GOP endorsed Whit Graves as the best man for the job. Apparently the LAGOP felt Nerren did the Republican party a disservice when he paid to have a professional canvassing company to "turn out" the minority vote and then tagged his name to a sample ballot. The local party leadership will discuss this tomorrow.

  119. This election is embarrassing for Bossier/Webster, specifically the 26th JDC. I'm at the point where I feel bad for Cox, Self, Stinson, Craig and Robinson. Fact of the matter is, in my lifetime I have not seen a bad judge come out of Bossier or Webster, and this will not change after Dec 8th. Both are good men, good attorneys and good citizens that have contributed to this area and will continue to do the same regardless of the outcome.

  121. My wife and I early voted today. I know both candidates and like both of them. Either one would make a fine judge but we could only vote for one. What made up my mind was the state repubs endorsing Whit and I thought to myself, Self, are you tired of the complete stupidity that our state is going through and how everything is so messed up with the repubs running things. Self told me to vote against the one the state repubs endorsed and I would be voting for a very good man. Mike has at least 2 votes and I know he will be a very good judge. I am no party and sick of dems and repubs!

This small time local election has to to a real brain cell burner for the true hard core right ringer type with all the finger pointing and dirt flying within the mostly solidarity ridden-oxymoron ridden campaign in full ways of committing an attempt at the beginning of a clean race that has gone awry.

Right winger evangelical tea party types really are an angry type with not to much common sense, yet have extreme tunnel vision.

The local true moderates(patience prone not to jump to conclusion types) no party affiliations are sitting on the side line and enjoying the $2:00 pictures show.

Viva non partisanship. The silent free thinking majority. I truly hope we get out and vote.

  130. This is election is bigger than Mike Nerren or Whit Graves. It is about having a true separation of powers where we don't have the DA's office pulling all the strings at the judicial level. When I received that negative flyer from Mike Nerren at Thanksgiving, my mind was made up to vote for Whit Graves.

    ReplyDelete

  132. Is there anyway we can ask the other judges who they would like to work with. They see both lawyers in court and seem the best to make that call. I understand from some at the court house the other judges do not like Mr. Graves at all. I understand he ran unsuccessful campaigns against both Robinson and Stinson and was on the campaign committee for Burchette against Craig. I would be interested to see what they have to say. Jim, can you ask them since your the unbiased moderator of this thing

  133. I wonder who the Judges will vote for? A guy who ran a dirty race against two of them (and lost both), has been suspended from practicing law, who has spent 150k of his own money in this race because he doesn't have enough support and has taken this race into a political gutter. Hmmmm? I wonder.....

    ReplyDelete
  134. Judges are not allowed to comment ethically on a race, which is why you haven't heard anything from slattery. However Bolin made some choice comments in the times about the DA's office. (negative)

  138. Nerren did run for DA and lost which means Whit has lost more political races (2-1) and been suspended from lawyering more times than Nerren (graves -1 Nerren -0). Anyway you slice it Junior, Nerren wins!!!

Obviously you are trying to degrade one or more of our judges in the 26th JDC, or the 26th JDC in general. I can tell you from working with each and everyone of them and its staff on a daily basis, results of any drug screen...NEGATIVE!!

  143. VOTE MIKE NERREN THE BEST MAN FOR THE JOB!!!

  144. Please allow me to paint a portrait of the Graves campaign. I have been at most activities for months now which have included meetings, walking streets, attending football games, participating in parades, waving signs at busy street intersections. I have not heard one person...candidate nor supporters... say anything derogatory about the opponent. In fact at the onset I heard Whit's lovely wife Robin say that there was not going to be any negativity. If you had been present, you would have heard a lot of "uh and ahing" when a dog would peep through a window in a vehicle as he passed by, or you would have heard our cheers to the sound of horns, a thumbs-up jesture, or simple wave. You might also hear Robin yell, "Don't stand too near the curb!" You would also hear a lot of laughter and see embracing in hugs upon arriving and departing. What a great joy it has been to be a part of this exceptional group of folks. Thank you.

    ReplyDelete
  150. I'm trying to find out, will have something tomorrow morning hopefully. I do know that neither side asked for an endorsement.

    ReplyDelete
  151. I heard they asked the state party to either withdraw the endorsment for whit or co endorse both candidates.

    ReplyDelete
  152. If that's the case, maybe they should gather the SCC members to vote for Nerren too. Fat chance.

    ReplyDelete
  153. I heard that Ann Price and John Kay are are the State Central Committee and they are the ones that pushed for the State Committee to Endorse whit. John Kay runs Whits campaign. No one else was asked about the endorsment-- Nerren was not even allowed to talk to the State before they made the endorsement--Looks Price and Kay pulled a fast one on the local republicans.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Ann Price, John Kay and a few others ARE the State Central Committee--- they are the ones that forced the committee to prematurely endorse Whit-- without giving Nerren (a lifelong Republican) a hearing. Ann is the Vice Chairwoman of the State Executive Committee-- what a black eye for the party to treat a life long republican like Nerren like this. NO explanation-- No hearing and an endorsment without contacting ANY LOCAL republican leaders for their opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  155. I wonder that the state party is going to do when they get a letter from the local pec asking them to either withdraw the endorsement from Whit or co endorse Nerren. I wonder if they will listen to the local leaders of the party?

    ReplyDelete
  156. How can John Kay be a paid consultant on Whit's campaign and be on the State Central Committee AND actively seek an endorsement from the State Central Committee of his candidate? Isn't that just a conflict of interest?

    ReplyDelete
  157. ANON at 6:04-- it is a fat chance, seeing how Ann Price and John Kay are on Whit's side and are on the SCC--- If those are the gatekeepers of the endorsment, then no wonder no one wants that endorsment.

    ReplyDelete
  158. So the PEC voted to send a letter to the State Pary requesting that the State Party either withdraw the state party's endorsement of Whit OR also endorse Nerren.
That's not an endorsement, but it might be a game changer.

    ReplyDelete
  159. Anon at 6:20--So the local Republican Leaders did not endorse Whit or Nerren, but asked the State Party to do the same?

    ReplyDelete
  160. I could vote for Nerren because he's a great lawyer and knows the law. Because he dedicates countless hours coaching baseball to our youth. Because he loves his family. Because he has been a conservative his entire life. Bceause he has all the qualities of a judge in that he does not see people as democrats and republicans--- BUT Im voting for NerreN because his name is spelled the same backwards and forwards.

    ReplyDelete
  161. It's always funny to me that when a candidate doesn't get their way, then the other campaign's candidate or worker must've pulled a fast one.

Speaking of fast ones, the following votes asked the party to rescind the endorsement today.

Richard Ray (works for Jeff Thompson)
Jeff Thompson (via proxy given to Richard Ray)
Bobby Edmiston (king of the good ole boys)
Ryan Gatti (Schuyler pawn and failed candidate who always pulls the establishment line)
    Laura Adley (lol)

Maybe Mike McConnell (trying to get elected to something, sometime)

    The others were against.

    ReplyDelete
  162. ANON at 6:26-- some sad news for you -- John Kay and Ann Price just read your post, and they petitioned websters dictionary to endorse whit by changing the definition of palindrome to specifically exclude the word NERREN-- but Racecar, toot, eye, madam, tot and hannah still are good. NerreN is the only one that's excluded- even though he meets all the time honored requirements. They are also on the editing committee of the dictionary-- and wanted me to tell you, you have to vote for Graves now.

    ReplyDelete
  163. Anon at 6:28--- how do you know the vote? Are you Collier or Ann Price?

    ReplyDelete
  164. I would like to know how Whit got the endorsment of the state party if Six of the eight elected members of the PEC voted today to have the endorsement rescinded or nerren co endorsed?

    ReplyDelete
  165. Anon at 6:28--"Adley (lol)" that is completely disrespectful of Mrs. Adley. She is the most studied member of the PEC. If you are man and wrote this it is a shame. If you are a woman-- you must be jealous.

    ReplyDelete
  166. There is no doubt after today's meeting that Ann Price and Mike Collier pulled a fast one- in securing an endorsment for Graves from the state-- no one else knew how the endorsement occurred and John Kay and Ann Price said they were not at liberty to dicuss the secret vote that resulted in Whits endorsment by the state. Sound like good ole boy er girl politics behind closed doors.

    ReplyDelete
  167. I heard they could not even produce a written endorsement of Whit from the state party!!!! what a joke!!! How can the state endorse a candidate and not put it in writing-- that is as fishy as it gets. They said the endorsment was "VERBAL."

    ReplyDelete
  168. anon at 6:32-- did they get that in writing or is it just verbal?

    ReplyDelete
  169. Ok so Richard Ray, Jeff Thompson, Ryan Gatti, Bobby Edminston Laura Adley and Mike Mcconell are fine with Republicans helping elect Barack Obama. True Republicans indeed.

    ReplyDelete
  170. So you're telling me that Ann Price and John Kay have enough pull to get an endorsment from the state in a two person race where both are republicans? There had to have been someone else in on this. Do they have this power because they are both on the committee?

    ReplyDelete
  171. ANON- 651-Dude OBAMA LOST in Bossier Parish-- did you see the returns-- OBAMA lost in Bossier Parish in 2008 also--- the flyer did not help OBAMA--

The flyer represents a group of people endorsing NERREN, not NERREN endorsing someone--- CAN YOU HEAR THE WORDS COMING OUT OF MY MOUTH?

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  173. ANON 656 so you are ok with the contribution to BARACK OBAMA'S campaign no matter what the result was? Don't distract from the point, just acknowledge the fact that Nerren gave money that went to support Obama and a majority of the PEC listed above are ok with it. Its as simple as that.

    ReplyDelete
  175. To all reading this the push card above is not real, its a Graves lie. Nerren realy didnt pay for the promotion of OBAMA. The finance report reflecting Nerren payed the man who handed these out, thats a Graves lie as well. The only truth to be found comes from only those who do not support Graves.

    ReplyDelete
  176. This is a non-issue. Presidents race over. Graves still can't explain why he's the only candidate suspended for lying to the LA Supreme Court. His last 2 excuses were the suspension was "insignificant" and "not a big deal" - The Forum. Stay tuned. I think lying is a Big Deal - and I think voters agree.

    ReplyDelete
  177. Anon 704-- let me follow you. Nerren has been a republican for over 29 years. A group in Minden endorses Nerren and puts him on a ballot with the other issues and candidates they endorse- including constitutional amendents-- This makes nerren an obama supporter? Wow that's great logic.

    ReplyDelete
  178. Looks like the DA's office is working late tonight to try to spin their dirty politics in Nerrens favor.

    ReplyDelete
  179. Have you seen the latest Whit "not going negative" campaign flyer. Great Job John Kay-- looks like we are going to chalk up two losses for you after this one. Great move!! Are you even from Bossier? I changed mine to read "Obama appoints local republican lawyer to US Supreme Court."
Seriously, has John Kay ever won a race up here? These flyers are silly. BTW thanks for reminding all the undecided democrats that Nerren is not a racist. And thanks for reminding us republicans not to use you in the future.

    ReplyDelete
  180. 8:08 - A group didn't endorse Nerren, he paid them to put him on the Obama ballot.

    ReplyDelete
  181. So does the state party have to follow the recommendation of the Bossier PEC to withdraw the endorsement that Graves received? Do they have a deadline?

    ReplyDelete
  182. I pretty sure they endorsed him or he would not be on their flyer.

    ReplyDelete
  183. But you know what, at least Nerren gets his endorsement in WRITING. Could someone please post a link to the written endorsment of Whit Graves by the republican party? Ann, John, Mike? Anyone?

    ReplyDelete
  184. I changed my whit negative mailout to read-- Local Republican invited to beer summit with OBAMA to dicuss cruel treatment from the secret meetings of the Louisiana State Republican Party-- the only thing they have in common.

    ReplyDelete
  185. What do Jay Dardenne, Mike Nerren, Barak Omama, and Barrow Peacock have in common? They all won without the endorsement of the State Republican Party.

    ReplyDelete
  186. 8:18-- I think they turned down whit didn't they?

    ReplyDelete
  187. anon 6:28-- SO now even the republicans that are elected to serve on the PEC by the voters are not republican enough for you.

So you attack, Edminston, Gatti, Thompson, Ray Laura Adley and Mcconell? Those are the most conservative republican people in the Parish.
That's why they were elected to the PEC.

maybe your mad that these six leaders could not be bullied by Ann Price, Mike Collier and John Kay to just shut up and follow the state party.

  192. A letter? Can we get a copy of the letter that was sent to the State Party from the PEC? How did they ask the State to withdraw the endorsement? Does the state have to comply? has this ever happened before? An endorsement not in writing to be withdrawn? Do they have to withdraw the verbal endorsement in writing or do they have to withdraw verbal endorsement verbally?
