Attorney John Settle has announced that he will appeal the 26th JDC ruling on the School Board bond election.
Judge Jeff Cox ruled Settle did not prove that the Board had misrepesented the proposition as a renewal. He also ruled that any wrongdoing by school officials in promoting the election were a criminal matter, not a civil one.
KTBS stated in their story that “Bossier DA Schuyler Marvin has not returned repeated calls from KTBS as to whether he will review Settle's allegations.”
I can answer that one. Ummmmm, no . . .
1. Settle files lawsuit and gets assigned to Stinson.
ReplyDelete2. Stinson recuses after Settle files motion because Judge Stinson son teaches handicapped kids nothing to do with school tax at all.
3. Case assigned to Cox who dismisses first count as no standing.
4. Cox then rules against Settle as no merit on other count.
5. Marvin should follow up behind and clean up Settle's crap?
Sounds like a great use of my tax dollars. Last time I checked unhappy school officials weren't breaking into houses or shooting folks.
Oh, I forgot genius Settle filed to recuse Cox too because he had smoked a cigar with Masoura. Sounds like some conspiracy to me.
ReplyDeleteCalm down "contractor/Machen family member". You'll be milking all that tax payer money soon enough.
ReplyDeleteFYI I am not a "contractor/Machen family member" and even voted No, No, No on the taxes. However, right or wrong, when an election is over, it is over. This was nothing more than a publicity stunt by Settle.
ReplyDeleteI know there are plenty of schools in Bossier, very expensive schools. So why is it that so many do not seem to be aware of the The Constitution of These United States, and the first ten amendments thereto, known as The Bill of Rights. John Settle, and every other citizen, has a constitutional right to petition the government for redress of grievance.
ReplyDelete8:22,
ReplyDeleteI agree. Besides you don't hear about people challenging the government entities around here that often but their spending has gotten so out of control and frivolous that sometimes it has to be done. I think in the end we will all benefit from it. Now that they know that someone will challenge their decision, they will think a little harder about what they are doing. How many tax increases have we had in the past few years? Think about it.
@9:59,
ReplyDeleteI'm glad Settle is challenging the election outcome. Americans, especially after the screwing we took yesterday from the Supreme Court, need to fight back and stop taking it from our politicians just so they can pad theirs and the pockets of their family and friends.
I'm glad too. I hope he wins. I live in bossier city and with this last election, this will make the third time in the last two years my taxes have been raised.
ReplyDeleteSettle really showed them, didn't he?
ReplyDeleteThis was not a challenge of the government, but of the will of the people when they voted. No, no, yes vote makes no sense, but that really doesn't matter. A judge should not overrule the people who cared enough to leave the t-ball field or get off work early to go vote. If you can set aside an ele tion because a candidate lied no one would ever get elected to anything.
ReplyDeleteThat Settle is one great lawyer isn't he?
ReplyDeleteLOL, anon at 259. Settle has been and will be a joke, this is all a waste of time.
ReplyDeleteJoke or not I thank him for standing up to the bossier machine. I personally feel because of him and all the attention these politicians' actions have brought on themselves caused them not to roll our property taxes forward. Without all this outside attention, they would have huddled up in their circle of friends, raised the taxes and continued business as usual.
ReplyDeleteA much better use of our tax dollars is for Schuyler to lobby in BR to keep his power while a triple homicide investigation is being botched.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know Marvin was the investigator. I thought the cops handled that
ReplyDeleteMarvin has the final say on any investigation. He decides whether or niot to try the case or not.
ReplyDeleteAnon at 454. Here we go. Back to Marvin, Hall, Deen - oops he's retired so we'll find a new target of stupid posts. Nice try but getting old.
ReplyDeleteIs it just me, or is this post about Settle and the school board? I fail to understand what Marvin did about a BC police investigation has to do with it. It's not like Copperhead is some boy scout. Last I heard he was convicted on federal charges.
ReplyDeleteCopperhead is not a boy scout, but he did not kill the three people, and the real killers got away while the police were busy framing someone who didn't do it.
ReplyDeleteUnconfirmed report appeals court ruled in favor of school board. Now settle yelling he is going to supreme court. Got to hold on to his 15 min of fame...!
ReplyDeleteGuess he has beat this horse to death. Maybe Settle can revive him so he can beat him some more.
ReplyDeleteStop insulting horses
