Ryal Siem to announce Tax Assessor bid

My name is Ryal Siem and on March 3, 2011 I will be formally announcing my
candidacy for the Bossier Parish Tax Assessor.
I am a lifelong resident of Bossier Parish having attended Bossier Parish Schools in Haughton and Bossier City. I graduated from Airline High School in 1979. I then attended LSU-Shreveport where I earned an Associate of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in General Studies.
My wife, Terri Hamous Siem, and I have been married for over 28 years. My wife works for the Bossier Parish School System and teaches 5th grade at Benton Elementary. We have two children who are both married. Our children and their spouses live in Bossier Parish.
This June, I will have 30 years of service with General Motors. Currently I am a
Production Superintendent. However, I have held many leadership positions and several special assignments within the organization. I have been recognized by GM management for my integrity, trust, perseverance and composure under stress. I have multi-functional experience in Employee Relations, Human Resources and Manufacturing. I have become very accomplished at planning, budgeting and conflict resolution. I have managed groups of employees from as small as five to as large as several hundred. I have maintained a very strong rapport with both GM leadership as well as our workforce. I have demonstrated professional agility and the ability to lead
change.
The Parish Tax Assessor’s primary responsibility is to ensure the citizens of Bossier Parish, that all property is assessed in a fair and equitable manner. If elected Tax Assessor I assure you that all assessments will be fair and equitable.
I have the skill and leadership that is required to perform the duties of the Tax Assessor.
I also have the integrity, the trust and character that the citizens of Bossier Parish are looking for.

  1. Ryal,
Hope you're not a mason/shriner, because you won't get my vote. We have too many of the s.o.b's ruining things as it is right now.

  5. Bobby Edmiston has done an excellent job - I can't imagine what he would be criticized about - hate that mr reed has Put this man in the race because he is not willing to pay his fare share of taxes - but to each his own - go Bobby - four more years

  6. A few days ago someone on this blog suggested going to the sheriffs website, clicking on property taxes and checking by name how much people paid. I tried it. Some folks with houses worth a lot more than mine paid less than I did. Did some people get a break because Mr. Edmiston knew them? Just asking.

  7. Do not believe Mr. Reed put Ryal into the race. Believe Ryal put himself in the race after realizing how many supporters he had. He will do a great job.

  8. Who is Mr. Reed?

  9. how much does the tax assesor make a year? i bet its big bucks, otherwise you wouldn't have a private sector guy from GM that you know makes good money going into the public sector. this is an example of compensation for these positions being out of balance

  16. wow - if you did stood outside Kroger anywhere in Bossier with 500 dollars offering 50 dollars for each person that can tell you who Ryal Siem is - you would still have 500 dollars after a 10 hour day - he goes down in the 1st round by knockout

  17. Isn't that the point of a campaign????

  18. Anyone weather you have heard of them or not would be better than Bobby!

  19. My dealings with the assessors office have been good. What are your problems with them?

  20. I dont like anyone who says I have to pay more taxes no matter what his name is. Which ever will work to reduce my taxes gets my vote.

  21. Idiots - read the law - the assessor has very little discretion if he follows the law - you assess a house based upon the fair market value of the property and appling the millage approved by the voters = tax - good lord - if the assessor had e authority to lower taxes - you would be right

  22. Who makes that determination of fair market value and who makes the determination to check a company or not and how often?

Idiot: To funny. What stories will emerge in this race. I hear plenty.

  23. Ryal will not get my vote. From my experience, he is one of those 'better than the general public' type people. And just like now, he's looking out for himself because GM's days are numbered. I alreaady don't like his politics.
