Birthers: If the (tinfoil) hat fits, wear it

I haven’t been called a socialist or a liberal Democrat in about a week, and I must be missing it, because I cannot let this one go any longer.

What is the deal with the birth certificate controversy? It has actually become a sort of movement, and people seem happy to carry the label ‘birther’.

Examine the facts.

World Net Daily is generating a lot of money in product sales and in donations, so it is easy to understand their continued demand that a ‘long form’ birth certificate be produced.

World Net Daily originally ran stories that the birth certificate posted on the website was a forgery, but later withdrew that claim.

  • “A separate WND investigation into Obama's certification of live birth utilizing forgery experts also found the document to be authentic. The investigation also revealed methods used by some of the bloggers to determine the document was fake involved forgeries, in that a few bloggers added text and images to the certificate scan that weren't originally there.”

DOH spokeswoman Janice Okubo said about the birth certificate posted by the Obama campaign last fall “is considered a birth certificate from the state of Hawaii."

The governor of Hawaii has been accused of ‘sealing’ Obama’s birth records. The governor, who by the way is a Republican who campaigned for John McCain, did not interfere in the matter at all. State law in Hawaii requires that the records are confidential. Louisiana has the same requirement.

  • “State law (Hawai‘i Revised Statutes §338-18) prohibits the release of a certified birth certificate to persons who do not have a tangible interest in the vital record," DOH Director Dr. Chiyome Fukino said.

Fukino said that no state official, including Gov. Linda Lingle, ever instructed that Obama's certificate be handled differently from any other.

Fukino said she and the registrar of vital statistics, Alvin Onaka, have personally verified that the health department holds Obama's original birth certificate.

  • "Therefore, I as Director of Health for the State of Hawai‘i, along with the Registrar of Vital Statistics who has statutory authority to oversee and maintain these type of vital records, have personally seen and verified that the Hawai‘i State Department of Health has Sen. Obama’s original birth certificate on record in accordance with state policies and procedures,"

Think about it. The Director of Health and the Registrar of Vital Statistics, the people who are in charge of maintaining these records, certified that they have seen the original and are certifying that Obama was born in Honolulu.

I had a conversation with someone last week who ‘had his doubts.’ I outlined the above facts and his reply was “there are still too many unanswered questions . . “. When I asked what questions he was referring to, he simply trailed off into some comments about ‘he may have traveled on a British Passport and he won’t release his college records because they might show that he was registered as a foreign student . . “.

Some people just won’t give up.

Perhaps they would be better served if they turned their attention to the healthcare debate, the stimulus, and a national debt that is out of control.

Even Anne Coulter thinks it's wrong:

  1. Tin foil hat? Jim, you are just jealous because the little voices are talking to me and not you. LOL, just kidding. I saw that on a bumper sticker somewhere. I may be wrong, but I do believe he has an authentic American birth certificate. I will admit that when the story first came out before the election, I hoped it was true to derail his election. You know anything to win. I think they could have done something after the story first started to satisfy everyone instead of letting the story grow legs. And I may have missed that too. And don't get me wrong, I don't hate him. But I do disagree with "many" of his decisions. But I won't chase that rabbit.

  3. ok here is a question I don't know the answer to and seems to me to be critcal to this whole debate and yet I haven't seen this questiion explored. Who do you show thecertificate to so you can be president? Someone had to ok him to be president.

  4. You like research Jim, here's a start for you. How did Obama live and go to school in Indonesia in the early 70's when AMERICANS weren't even allowed in the country at the time? This is very simple, why won't Mr Transparent release his actual longform birth certificate and passport? Seriously, why? All of this "tin foil hat" noise could have been put to rest long ago, why?

  5. Jim, you would have made a great little German citizen back during the rise of Hitler's popularity.

  6. If all else fails, yell NAZI. Sorry, anon, you can do better.

  7. what about the 10:14 anon, no response there huh? Think about it, early 70's Indonesia, Americans can't even travel there must less live and go to school. Come on be an independent thinker, don't just spout the party line.

  8. I see you're keeping up your subscription to World Net Daily. What travel ban are you referring to? Indonesia under Suharto had a U.S. backed government for more than 30 years.
    Why would I comment on a non-issue?

  9. So you also don't have a problem with our President not producing a passport or birth certificate. Non issue, right?

  10. He did produce a birth certificate. Why should he produce his passport? There have been no credible questions about his travels.
You may have to put down the World Net Daily just long enough to get a dictionary and look up the word "credible".

  11. He produced a birth certificate? You have a copy? WOW!!! What hospital and who was the attending physician? You sure know alot about world net daily, what's up with that?

  12. I have to read WND so I can keep up my discussion with you. Otherwise, I'd be at a total loss as to what the hell you're talking about.

  15. Good try, another preacher who got 'saved' in prison. Great sermon, but not one word of evidence that anything he says is true.
He has endorsed WND's birther agenda, but he should stick to his original schtick of trying to run all the white-owned businesses out of Harlem (because it belongs to the black people). They don't OWN it, but it belongs to them.

  16. Jim, you're beginning to look "stupidly.". What hospital and which physician? It's clearly on his birth certificate and you clearly stated he has provided it.

  17. Present me some evidence that these officials are lying and we'll talk:
"Therefore, I as Director of Health for the State of Hawai‘i, along with the Registrar of Vital Statistics who has statutory authority to oversee and maintain these type of vital records, have personally seen and verified that the Hawai‘i State Department of Health has Sen. Obama’s original birth certificate on record in accordance with state policies and procedures,"
DOH spokeswoman Janice Okubo said about the birth certificate posted by the Obama campaign last fall “is considered a birth certificate from the state of Hawaii."

  18. Jim, you know as well as I do you cannot take that certificate of live birth and get a passport. You also are aware a parent can apply for it weeks or even months after the birth of the child no matter where they were born. I'm not convinced he wasn't born in Hawaii, but he is definitely hiding something. You don't spend hundreds of thousands on attorneys if there isn't a snake in the woodpile. Where is King Obama's transparency?

  19. He could very well have something to hide, I think most politicians do. I don't think much of them as a group.

  20. Constitutional term -- Natural Born Citizen

Parents -- Both are U.S. Citizens

    Conjunction -- AND

Location of Birth -- Born in U.S. Mainland

Legal Reference -- US Constitution Art II, Sec 1, cl 5

    U.S. vs Wong Kim Ark, 169 U.S. 649 (1898)

    Perkins vs Elg, 307 U.S. 325 (1939)

COLB says his father is AFRICAN - not a US Citizen, nor has anyone ever claimed he was.

  21. If you are born on U.S. soil it doesn't matter. That's why the children of illegal immigrants who are born here are citizens.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Jim, you are wrong. Native born is what you are refering to. Google U.S. vs Wong Kim Ark and understand NATURAL born vs native born citizens.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Thanks. I looked it up on Wiki (not the best authority) and Supreme Court ruling was that he was a citizen because he was born on American soil, although neither of his parents were citizens.
I did not see how it affected natural born as opposed to native born, but it was just a short article. I'll research it more when I get a chance, but have to work on a computer right now.
