Shreveport City Judge Laleshia Walker Alford Removed from Bench

FROM: CLERK OF SUPREME COURT OF LOUISIANA
The Opinion handed down on the 15th day of February, 2008, is as follows:
BY TRAYLOR, J.:
2007-O -1893 IN RE: JUDGE LALESHIA WALKER ALFORD
(Judiciary Commission of Louisiana)
For the foregoing reasons, we order that Judge Laleshia Walker Alford
of the Shreveport City Court, Parish of Caddo, is hereby removed from
office, and that her office is hereby declared vacant. Further,
respondent is ordered pursuant to La. Sup. Ct. Rule XXIII, Section 26
to refrain from qualifying as a candidate for judicial office for five
years and until certified by this Court as eligible to become a
candidate for judicial office. Finally, pursuant to La. Sup. Ct. Rule
XXIII, §22, we cast respondent with costs incurred in the investigation
and prosecution of this proceeding in the amount of $5,000.00.
REMOVAL FROM JUDICIAL OFFICE ORDERED.
JOHNSON, J., concurs and assigns reasons.

  1. I believe the old addage that what goes around comes around, and so it is in this case. Mrs. Alford showed no mercy therefore she received no mercy. Mrs. Alford talked in such a demeaning manner to people and she really must have allowed those pills to alter her memory--in other words she forgot where she came from. I had the dubious pleasure of being in her courtroom and I was outraged when I left. If I could have gone up to that bench and slapped her face I would have felt better. When she was removed from the bench I'm sure that left a "sting" to her face.
