The meeting of the EMS Board that was scheduled for tomorrow at 3PM has been postponed. The meeting will be re-scheduled at some point within the next 10 days or so. The reason given was that more time was needed to complete the investigation that is ongoing.
The entire 5 person EMS Board has resigned this month, 3 of the members after being asked to by the Parish Administrator. Word is that the board was planning to terminate Director Duxie Scott, who was suspended last week. Apparently the meeting was being held at the new EMS facility on Swan Lake Road in order to maintain crowd control, as it will accommodate fewer people than the Police Jury chambers in Benton. The meeting, whenever it is held, is expected to be volatile.
I also heard a rumor that unauthorized individuals had gained access to the Swan Lake Road facility over the Easter weekend, and that computers at the site were being checked to see if they had been accessed and any information altered.
I bet this is going to get ugly. Hope no one has any dirty little secrets they are hiding.
ReplyDeleteThings never get ugly in Bossier City or Parish. It is all hid well
ReplyDeleteWe just need to unhide it.
ReplyDeleteI really thought that there would be more interest in the wrong doings at BPEMS.....guess the people of Bossier Parish really don't care.
ReplyDeleteMaybe nothing has developed yet.
ReplyDeleteI'm a little confused, if they all resigned who was going to meet?
ReplyDeleteAll EMS board members were asked to resign. Then Bossier Parish Police Jury picked an interim board to meet with interim director Sammy Halphen. The BPPJ is still accepting applications for permanent members of the EMS Board.
ReplyDeleteIs it a conflict of interest that the Chief Investigator is also the Interim Director???
ReplyDeleteI would think that it would be a huge conflict for Halphen to be an investigator. It is like the fox gaurding the hen house. Halphen thinks he is as sly as a fox, but many people know him too well to believe that. The Police Jurors need to really think about appointing Halphen. Re-election time is coming up for some of them.
ReplyDeleteI'm not saying it would be any better than Halphen but shouldn't the Sheriff be the one investigating this?
ReplyDeleteI read the times editorial this morning. it is clear that the former director violated all kinds of laws and directives from his board of directors and needed to be terminated (sooner according to the article) i say the police jury did the proper thing here
