If you live in Palmetto Park or any of the other subdivisions around the country club you may want to keep an eye out. It may just be kids vandalizing, but there is no excuse for it. I received this letter today:
I live on Parkridge Drive in Benton, Louisiana and would like to let my neighbors know we have a thief in the neighborhood. I noticed the other morning that some of our Halloween decorations were stolen out of our yard and then again this morning I noticed that the decorations that I have on our porch were also stolen. Please post this and see if anyone else in my neighborhood is having this problem and maybe we can catch this thief!!!!!
Don't be too hard on the thieves. I'm pretty sure "the devil made 'em do it."
ReplyDeleteOkay...lame, I know.
I bet Matt Sciba stole them. He needs make believe friends.
ReplyDeleteNo, Evodna stole them. She always wanted to be a twin.
ReplyDeleteStop it!
ReplyDeleteThat's just mean. Heck, some woman is trying to put folks on alert that their decorations might get stolden, and y'all are making light of it, and saying bad things about folks. For shame.
ReplyDeleteBut, if I had to make a guess, I'd guess that roving bands of chirrens from Haughton are at guilt.
Got it! Andy stole them for props in the Babs Norton campaign parade. gotcha Andy.
ReplyDeleteY'all quit, you know I am scared of certified mail, dogs, and ghost.
ReplyDelete"I'd guess that roving bands of chirrens from Haughton are at guilt."
ReplyDeleteHeh. Because the devil made them do it . .
I can't believe that there are 7 comments so far and no one has blamed Jimmy Hall . .
Anon @8:37. Nyuk!!!
ReplyDeleteMaybe it is Sheriff Deen's fault. The old men he has in the cars can't see after dark....
ReplyDeleteBaaaHaaaaa! These comments totally made my day!

So what's your point, do you want to on days or something so you could save the day. That is if you could find your bullet Barney!

ReplyDeleteNope. Just pointing out that if you don't send your people out to find the criminals first, they will set up shop in your own backyard. With the majority of guy's out there being old men who are tasked to wave and shake hands, it's hard to be tough of crime. If you think that a lot of criminals don't know that already and that they haven't set up shop in Bossier Parish then you haven't been paying attention. If we don't step up to the plate soon in B.P. then we will be in the same shape Shreveport is before you realize it.
ReplyDeleteI agree with anon 10:41. I live in Lakewood and over the years have reported a theft and a prowler to BPSO. I asked if maybe patrols after midnight could be stepped up a bit but I do not think that has happened. I don't think Larry has enough deputies after midnight to properly patrol the parish. I hope Whittington will change that but we elected him without asking any questions so I doubt if anything will change. Maybe I'm wrong. I hope so.
ReplyDelete3-5 deputies working from roughly midnight until 7 am is not nearly enough! Maybe some of the "good will ambassadors" (aka: the old timers club) should be forced to work some schedule besides the 7am-3pm shift. There are so many cars up and down the roads all day long that you can barely keep from hitting them (not counting the dinosaur posse). Everyone in the parish knows that these guys are stacked up during the day because it is a favor being paid back to someone for something or another. Collect a nice paycheck to ride around all day on free gas and be a good will ambassador who never has to work a night shift. Where do I sign up? I'm not holding my breath, but hoping Mr. Whittington will try to make some changes regarding much of this silliness.
ReplyDeleteLet me start by stating that the people you deal with on a routine basis during daylight hours are usually different from the people that are dealt with during evening and nighttime hours.
ReplyDeleteThe characteristics of the deputies who are deployed on days are usually more mature and can communicate in a less aggressive manner. Whereas the deputies deployed during evenings and/or nighttime hours tend to be usually younger and a more aggressive; this is by design.
I do agree we need more deputies deployed during the evenings and nighttime hours, but we also need a mix of older and more matured deputies to produce and bring a more calming and methodical aspects to the table. Being younger and more aggressive does not always produce a better deputy or the lower crime stats, but could just bring more civil suits. In addition, age does not determine aggressiveness, I know some young deputies who are outright lazy, but being fair there are as many older deputies who fall into this category.
Manpower allocations are easy to determine as are days off during a week and are directly in correlations with calls for service.
With the above in mind, whom do you think the public would rather deal with? I think common sense goes a long way!
Not everyone is made for police work. I just think we should be more concerned about who CAN do the job when the going gets tough, and a little less concerned about who the public WANTS to deal with. I am not saying that anyone should get a pass and be allowed to not be professional; however, what happens when something really bad happens and grandpa is the only person nearby and he isn't prepared to deal with it? The public will really be upset when it comes to pass that some of these people CAN'T do what needs to be done when push comes to shove.

ReplyDeleteAre you referring to the Sheriff’s Posse as grandpas or the older deputies in patrol? If you are referring to the older deputies in patrol, I would rather have one of them backing me up over some younger and aggressive deputy who thinks he knows all. Some of those older guys have forgotten more than some of these younger deputies know.
10:01,
ReplyDeleteSo let me get this straight. You your saying if you were getting your ass whipped you would rather one of BPSO's political hires show up than a young deputy full of piss and vinegar. Really? You must be one of those old geazers who does nothing and has never done anything but collect a paycheck.
I am an old geazer and if getting an ass whipping, I will take the young, strong deputy any day.
ReplyDeletePiss and vinegar guarantees nothing, but I am glad I want need the assistance anyway!
