Six teenagers drown in Red River in Shreveport/Bossier

Reports are just coming in.  The coroner is on the scene.
You can keep updated at KSLA, KTBS or The Times.
I will update here as more information comes in.

From the KSLA site, according to Cindy Chadwick, spokesman for the Caddo Parish Sheriff's office, two adults and six teenagers were on the scene.  The teens, who didn't know how to swim, were wading and as they walked out into the water there was a sudden dropoff.

  1. What a horrible thing. People need to realize that the river is very dangerous, not a place to play around in. I feel for these families.

  3. Oh man, that's sad. I was having this very conversation on Sunday with a teenager that had been out goofing around with others on the Red.

    Dangerous.

    Tragic, indeed.
