Scott Gray, fatally shot by Bossier Police, had conviction for Battery on an Officer

The man who was fatally shot by Bossier City Police on Friday has been identified as Scott Gray. Gray had attacked a 77 year old woman in Walgreen’s at Shed Road and Airline shortly before being pulled over by Police on Old Minden Road at East Texas Street. Gray resisted and fought officers, and was shot. Details of the incident have not been released.
Gray had a conviction in 2002 in Bossier District Court for Battery on a Police Officer and Resisting Arrest. At that time, Judge Dewey E. Burchett, Jr. sentenced him to 4 months in jail without suspension on the battery charge, and to 2 months on resisting, which ran concurrently with the first sentence.
In addition, over the last 22 years he had several other misdemeanor charges.

  1. the cops will say scott went for one of their guns, so it was kill or be killed. i will reserve judgment of when we see video tapes, provided they release them. since he died, once the "investigation" of the officers is over, their is no reason not to release-legally speaking

  3. I think that when all 12 eyewitnesses are interviewed, the cops' version of the story will be gravely contradicted. The media released everything Scott Gray has ever done wrong but didn't mention any of the two officers prior wrong doings. One of these officers involved is said to have a prior involvement in a wrongful death. Wow that's not released at all. Scott was not a monster. Neither cop involved was even admitted to the hospital. How bad could he have really "beaten" either of them up? Why doesn't the media release how many times these two cops really shot their guns at the unarmed Scott Gray? I hope and pray that it goes to a grand jury and that the truth is told by the eyewitnesses. Scott Gray may have had mental problems but that doesn't justify killing him. Maybe my views will change somewhat after more than just the officers stories are told.

  4. I hope when an officer comes to help me in a time of need they do not have to stop and think how the media will judge their decisions. This incident happened in seconds. That is not much time to judge a persons mental state and discuss his options with him. I have not heard anyone say the officers are glad the suspect died. I do not know anyone involved. I do know if he had not attacked the old women in Walgreen's he would have never been pulled over by the BCPD. Mental illness does not excuse his actions.
